The ‘More Than Alot’ stars – who are currently working on their third studio album – will play the Eden project venue on July 4, with rapper Labrynth set to support.

The dance group join the likes of  Frank Turner, Plan B and The Vaccines/Noah And The Whale, Blink-182 and Example, in playing an Eden session.

They are due to headline the event on July 8, with ‘Kickstarts’ rapper playing on June 30, Turner on July 1 and the ‘Strickland Banks’ man Plan B plays a show on July 6.

Klinghoffer joined the band in 2009, after John Frusciante left following 20 years with the four-piece, to concentrate on his solo career. In an interview with Spinner, Smith cryptically said: “Having Josh come in, he’s such a great musician. He’s so well rounded. He plays many instruments and writes great. We’re just so lucky to find someone right in our backyard. It has to be different. And that’s something that helped us grow and change, having the voice that he brings with his musicality to our group. He changed our sound a lot. But also, everybody else changed too. And that’s just keeping things fresh.”

The performance saw an intimate close up show with the singer songwriter who will continue his tour with a show at Leicester’s Summer Sundae Festival this weekend.

The Gorillaz and Blur star has now started his own opera, Dr Dee which documents the life of John Dee, the 16th century astronomer and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I.

Albarn plays songs from a high up platform looking down upon the stage action and singing about the events below.

It may seem as though the move is rather a risky venture, but critics have given very positive reviews of early showings of the opera.

Paul Vallely from the Independent gave the show 4 stars and stated “Albarn and the director Rufus Norris have created something thrilling and visually stunning.”

Stephen Pritchard from the Guardian was slightly less praising but still commented, “it already deserves a gold medal for sheer imagination and invention.”

The show has just finished playing at the Manchester International Festival and will be running at the English Natural Opera next Summer.

After having the injury confirmed at hospital on June 21st, she posted a message the following day which read, “Turns out I’ve been hobbling around with a broke foot. Morrissey started his UK tour on Wednesday and premiered three brand new tracks.

Morrissey played three tracks off his forthcoming album, he played ‘Action Is My Middle Name’, ‘The Kid’s A Looker’ and ‘People Are The Same Everywhere’. He also treated fans to some Smiths songs and did a cover of Lou Reed’s classic ‘Satellite Of Love’.

Morrissey has 18 dates remaining on his tour and all venues have been asked to remove meat from the menu on the nights that he is performing. He also plays Glastonbury and Hop Farm festivals this summer, perhaps he’ll take a pack lunch to these.

With permed hair, braces and huge glasses Katy plays the character of Kathy Beth Terry, Katy’s teen alter ego,  who now has a huge following on facebook and twitter. During the video “kathy” accidently flashes her boob (it’s pixelated to keep her modesty and husband Brands jealously in check) and she throws up into a roller skate.

The band have upload two homemade videos to youtube promoting their new album ‘Gold Cobra’.

Limp Bizkit’s singer Fred Durst dons a storm troopers helmet and plays their title track ‘Gold Cobra’ whilst tapping away at his computer and chatting with a fellow storm trooper.

Comedian Brand has had success as an actor in ‘Forgetting Sara Marshall’ and ‘Get Him to the Greek’ where he plays a rogue rock’n'roll star – a theme seems to be developing….

U2 frontman Bono got caught in a downpour on Tuesday forcing him to hitchhike. He was rescued by Canadian Ice Hockey star Gilbert Brule.

Gilbert Brule  plays for Edmonter Oilers and recognized U2′s frontman instantly but his girlfriend wasn’t convinced. After some persuasion they turned the car around and collected Bono much to everyones delight.

U2 were performing a day later in Edmonton and Gilbert was cordially invited, Bono then told the crowd: ”I like ice hockey, because people who play ice hockey are the kind of people who pick up hitchhikers. I know this from personal experience.”

Tinchy Stryder will perform ahead of tomorrows Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium in London.

Manchester United take on Barcelona in the biggest match of club football. For the special occasion Tinchy has prepared ‘special self-penned lyrics”.

One Man, Two Guvnors is The National’s latest offering. It is Richard Bean’s adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s eighteenth century play, The Servant of Two Masters.  Bean has relocated the Italian comedy to 60s Brighton. It is quite a surprise turn from the National as it is funny, seriously funny, perhaps the funniest production the National has ever staged – it is honestly wet yourself funny.

Starring tv actor, presenter and all round ‘funny man’ James Corden, who plays Francis Henshall, an unemployed musician who decides he can make his fortune by working for not one but two crooks.

The hilarity of the play lies in the way Bean and director Nicholas Hytner have sown the visual and verbal comedy together. There is a familiarity to the rhythm of the gags which sings of British humour. There is a very clever slapstick to it:  ”love passes through marriage quicker than s**t through a small dog”.

James Corden can for many be a big pill to swallow. Unapologetically arrogant, smug and with an over inflated ego he’s not someone you can just ‘gloss over’ but it’s important to remember where his roots lie. Nicholas Hytner propelled Corden to stardom in Alan Bennett’s The History Boys at the National Theatre.

Whether returning to the stage or the union with Hytner, Corden is fantastic as Francis. His nonchalance on stage sweeps aside the complex and difficulty of the role. We see Cordens gift of interweaving physical comedy with sensitivity and touching gentleness. He effortlessly involves the audience, inviting them in but still letting the characters hunger and desperation play through.

He returns to his previous form of Gavin and Stacey before stardom polluted his brain and he gave the world monstrosities like Lesbian Vampire Killers (which was named “the worst film of the year” by the Observer) and Horne & Corden. Remember the first Corden and ignore the rest of it, ignore it. He’s is brilliant, the play is brilliant and you would be sorry to miss it.

If you really can’t stomach the thought of encouraging Corden’s ego then go for the rest of the cast, who are equally as mesmerizing in their talent and comic timing:  ’Green Wing’s Oliver Chris and  Neil Morrissey’s yuppie brother in ‘Rain Man’, West End stalwart Martyn Ellis, Trevor Laird who played the drug dealer in ‘Quadrophenia’ and Jemima Rooper who mans up to play one of the Guvnors, a sister in disguise. All performing fantastic hands.

One Man, Two Guvnors is a play of epic hilarity and enjoyed from start to finish, it really should not be missed.

Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have been announced as another UK exclusive headline act, while The Chemical Brothers are also confirmed to play.

The Big Chill is to take place at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire between August 4 and August 7. Previous headliners include Massive Attack and Lily Allen.

The Irish supergroup surpassed the magic $558 million (£341m) mark at their recent Sao Paolo gig, following sales of over seven million tickets since the tour began in July 2009.

According to Billboard Boxscore, the 360° tour plays to an average of 63,000 people a show, and rakes in $6.4 million (£3.9 million) a night.

Last August, U2′s manager Paul McGuinness predicted the tour would break all records, saying: “This tour by the end of this year will be the biggest grossing music tour by anyone of all time, and we will still have another 30 shows next year, 20-30 shows next year.”

The massive tour is due to end in July at Canada’s Magnetic Music Hill Musical Festival. A month earlier, the band will make their bow on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage when they will headline the festival alongside Coldplay and Beyonce.

The ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ singer took to the stage in front of 8,000 people at RMIT University in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, on Sunday evening.

The concert is part of the 69-year-old folk star’s Asia-Pacific tour, which marks 50 years since his first major performance, and on Wednesday saw him play in China for the first time.

Although The AP reports that the young crowd were largely unfamiliar with Dylan’s contribution to the anti-Vietnam War movement, older concert goers also came out in force to revel in the music legend’s timeless message of peace.

“Bob Dylan’s music opened up a path where music was used as a weapon to oppose the war in Vietnam and fight injustice and racism,” Tran Long An, vice-president of the Vietnam Composers’ Association, stated.

Arkansas native Stan Karber, who served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and now resides in the country, added: “We listened to anything that spoke of peace. We called him the peace poet.”

Dylan will next perform in Hong Kong and Singapore, before moving onto Australia later this week and playing European dates in June, including the London Feis.

He said moments in Back And Forth, screened in 165 cinemas across the UK tonight (7 April), made him feel “incredibly uncomfortable”. It charts Grohl’s time in Nirvana to the formation of Foo Fighters up until the recording of their recent album Wasting Light, released on 12 April.

The film shows the near death of drummer Taylor Hawkins back in 2001. Hawkins, who has expressed his discomfort at the film being released, spent two days in a coma following an overdose from painkillers.

“I watched the movie first before the band did,” said Dave Grohl, speaking in February. “I asked to watch it before the band did because I didn’t want it to break up our band.”

On a personal note Grohl said the most difficult footage for him to watch was where he binned the recordings made by Foo Fighters original drummer William Goldsmith for second album The Colour And Shape and rerecorded them himself.

“It was brutal,” admitted Grohl. “That part made me incredibly uncomfortable. I told everybody, ‘There’s going to be something for each one of you in this movie that will make you feel incredibly uncomfortable.’

“I think that’s good because it means we’re telling the true story.”

The film plays in cinemas in the UK tonight.

He apparently spoke only once directly to the crowd of some 5,000 people – mostly young Chinese though with a strong foreign presence – and that was to introduce his band.

“I was a little disappointed that he didn’t sing many of his songs because of the politics,” said Zhang Tian, 30, a Beijing lawyer. “What is the government so afraid of?”

Dylan’s gravelly voice, which made his lyrics hard to pick out even for native speakers of English, would have flummoxed many Chinese in the crowd in any case.

Promoters tried to bring Dylan to China last year, but the Culture Ministry did not give its approval, as is required for any concert in the country.

“I know his songs from karaoke, but I’m really not that familiar with him,” advertising executive Yin Yang, 24 told Billboard. “Still I think this was a historic concert and I’m glad I’ve seen him.”

In terms of the set list, Dylan omitted anything that might have overtly offended China’s Communist rulers, like “The Times They Are A-Changin.” Instead he trod a fine line between protest song and his “hits”.

“There was a character who I had written – her name was Scarlet Fever – which was my love interest throughout the mini-movie Lady Killer and Love Gun was her way of saying that she has been affected by me,” he said. “Just imagine Ace Rothstein and Ginger from the movie Casino; Ginger was Ace’s Scarlet. So Scarlet was my character, the one I was smitten by who was anything that a gangsta could want, but she was also the liability.”

Casino tells the story of Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, played by Robert De Niro – a top gambling handicapper who is called by the Mob to oversee the day-to-day operations at a casino in Las Vegas. Sharon Stone plays Ginger, Ace’s self-obsessed and devious wife in the film.
