Q Awards 2011 nominations revealed

The nominations for this year’s Q Awards have been revealed, with acts such as Arctic Monkeys and Jessie J securing multiple nominations. The winners will be named on October 24th at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

British singer Adele leads the way with three nominations in total, including Best Female Artists. The news comes as the September Adele tour resumed this week, following the singer’s illness.

Teenage Fanclub tickets on sale now for one-off gig live in London

Often described as the best band in the world by Kurt Cobain before he passed away, Teenage Fanclub are more than deserving of such praise. Their 1991 album Bandwagonesque beat the likes of Nirvana’s Nevermind, R.E.M.’s Out Of Time and My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless to be voted the best album of the year by Spin Magazine.

Teenage Fanclub are now on their ninth LP, and Shadows was released in May to more critical acclaim, and the Scottish band will play a special live concert in December in support of the album.

Teenage Fanclub tickets are on sale now for their gig at HMV Forum in London, and prices begin at £17.50 from SeeTickets.

Leona Lewis to sing on Haiti Song

Leona Lewis has recently revealed that she will be one of the many stars contributing to the charity song for Haiti that is being set up by Simon Cowell.

Leona Lewis will join a long list of the UK’s top stars including Michael Buble and Rod Stewart who will covert he R.E.M track ‘Everybody Hurts’ to raise money for the people of Haiti.

According to the Sun newspaper, R.E.M’s manager Bertis Downs said that the band were “deeply touched” to learn their song has been chosen and are going to waive their royalties from the track.

As well as taking part in the Haiti charity song project, Leona Lewis will be back in the UK later this year for her 2010 tour.

The 2010 Leona Lewis tour begins in Sheffield Hallam FM Arena on May 28. Leona Lewis is set to perform live at a number of top venues across the UK including MEN Arena, London O2 Arena, Glasgow SECC and the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle. The tour draws to a close with two shows at the Cardiff International Arena on July 5 & 6.

R.E.M Tickets – Half Price

In light of the slow sales for R.E.M’s recent UK tour, it is clear that more savvy concert-goers have chosen to wait and beat the online ticket market. Some fans paid as little as £22 to see the alt-rock legends at Twickenham stadium this weekend.

48 hours before the concert was set to take place, over 200 tickets were still available to buy online from both primary and secondary outlets. Some sellers had clearly failed to check market prices and were listing general admission tickets for as much as £128.

Despite the relatively poor turnout, the band reportedly put on a great show for those who did attend.
