Less than a week to go until V Festival kicks off

Excitement is building for this year’s V Festival, which begins on Saturday August 20th.

The two day event takes place over next weekend, and features some of the biggest names in pop and rock music. Headlining the festival will be Eminem and Arctic Monkeys. Also appearing on the main stage will be Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers.

The 4Music Stage will see headline sets from Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal, with Primal Scream, Razorlight, The Courteneers, Tinie Tempah, The Wombats and Jessie J.

The Arena Stage features artists including Calvin Harris, Chase And Status, Mark Ronson and Glasvegas.

Razorlight preview new album at secret gig

Razorlight previewed tracks from their new record last night at a secret gig in London.

Razorlight have not made an album since Slipway Fires in 2008 and since then the band have lost all other original member expect for Johnny Borrell. The new songs played indicate that they may release an album very shortly.

Razorlight will be playing at this year’s V Festival alongside acts including Arctic Monkeys, Rihanna and Eminem. They wil hopefully play more material at V from their new record which fans hope will be released in the near future.

Jonny Borrell of Laughs

Razorlight’s front man Jonny Borrell says he is pleased people laughed at the photo released of the new band.

Looking like they had raided the ‘Young Guns’ fancy dress box the new members Gus Robertson, Freddie Stitz and David ‘Skully’ Sullivan Kaplan stand proudly by the original and founding member.

Borrell say’s: “If people were laughing, then good! You shouldn’t change what people ridicule you for, because in reality it’s your strength,” Well they say you should never judge a book by its cover so we’re we’re willing to let the music do the talking when the new album is released later this year.

Razorlight in ‘Big Busk’

Razlorlight performed a free gig for folk in central London, Covent Garden, yesterday.

To celebrate 20 years of the Big Issue the band performed a ‘Big Busk’. Ellie Goulding did the second slot today in Trafalga Square.

The impromptu gigs are part of a series of free “Big Busks” by well known artists scheduled to take place across the UK throughout the year. With who and where the next one takes place is anyones guess, it all comes down to being in the right place at the right time!

The Big Issue have teamed up with Get Load In The Park with Razlorlight will headline on the 12th of June and should preview some of their new material from the forthcoming album.

Patrick Wolf signs up to Loaded in the Park

Patrick Wolf has signed up to appear on Get Loaded in the Park’s main stage this year.

He’ll be joining the likes of Razorlight, the Cribs (who will be without Johnny Marr after they went their separate ways), The Noisettes and British Sea Power.

The event will take place at Clapham Common, London, on 12th June. The festival started in 2004 and was initially on August Bank Holiday, but changed to its new date after a sbbatical in 2010.

Previous years have hosted the likes of Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Gossip, Supergrass, Graham Coxon and MIA.

N-Dubz and Ziggy Marley added to Guilfest line-up

Joining already announced headliners Razorlight, James Blunt, Erasure, Peter Andre and Public Image Limited, N Dubz and Ziggy Marley are the latest acts to be added to the eclectic Guilfest line-up.

N-Dubz will return to Guilfest for 2011, playing on the main stage on Saturday evening, after successfully playing the festival last year.

And providing a welcome enhancement to Sunday’s varied main stage line-up is reggae artist and eldest son of a certain dreadlocked rockstar, Ziggy Marley.

The already incredibly eclectic GuilFest line up will continue to grow over the coming months to a massive 200 bands performing across 7 music stages over the 3 days of the festival.

V Festival 2011 line-up: More acts confirmed

A number of new acts have been added to this year’s V Festival line-up. The event is set to take place on August 21st and 22nd in both Chelmsford and Shifnal, and will be headlined by Arctic Monkeys and Eminem, with support from Rihanna and Plan B.

Lostprophets, Good Charlotte, Kids In Glass Houses, The Wanted, Dionne Bromfield, Noisettes, Chipmunk have all been added to the bill, joining the likes of The Script, Dizzy Rascal, Pendulum, Kaiser Chiefs, Duran Duran, Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Razorlight, Chase n Status, Tinie Tempah, The Courteeners, Ellie Goulding, Scouting for Girls, Bruno Mars, Jessie J, The Wombats, Mark Ronson, N-Dubz, Glasvegas, Hurts, Katy B, KT Tunstall, Squeeze, The Saturdays, Example, Olly Murs, Cast, Kele, OCS, You Me at Six, Eliza Doolittle, Fun Lovin Criminals and Imelda May.

Glasvegas man talks about drummer’s departure

The drummer, who surprised fans when she quit the group in 2010, saddened her band mates when she made the decision to leave the Glasgow outfit. With the second album coming out soon, Rob Allan has opened up about the reasons behind her departure.

He tells The Sun, “It wasn’t a shock as we knew she wasn’t happy. She never signed up for all the travel and demands which we had when things took off. She never wanted to stand there in front of thousands of people and play at Glastonbury. She found it all too much and she told us as a band. We all sat down together so there wasn’t any hard feelings. We all got a bit upset and felt sad at first as we valued her so much.”

In 2004, Razorlight drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo left the band in similar circumstances.

McKay was replaced by Swedish star Jonna Lofgren.

Razorlight confirm huge London show

Razorlight are set to play a huge headline gig in London this summer, it has been confirmed

The band announced the show in a video message, but did not announce any details about the event.

“London gigs have become homecoming gigs for the band, and that’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever experienced,” frontman Johnny Borrell said.

The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their new album, which will be their first with their new line-up.

Razorlight tickets could go on sale within the next few weeks.

The majority of the line-up for this year’s V Festival was announced last night, with Eminem and Arctic Monkeys set to headline the event. Rihanna and Plan B have also been confirmed.

The festival will take place at Weston Park, Shifnal and Hylands Park in Chelmsford on the 20th and 21st August.

In 2009, Arthur’s Day signified 250 years since the beginning of the Guinness brewing company, and the famous Irish beer elected to arrange a series of live music events in celebration. It was given the name Arthur’s Day after Arthur Guinness, the founder of the business, and staged in various venues across the world. Some of the UK’s biggest names joined in the fun – including the Sugababes, Razorlight and Calvin Harris – and it proved such a roaring success that Guinness have elected to make Arthur’s Day an annual occasion.

In 2010 the Guinness brewing company reaches that most important of milestones: it turns 251 years old.

On September 23rd 2010, there will be a whole host of concerts around Ireland’s major cities, with Dublin of course the focus as the Guinness brewery is located there. Arthurs Day 2010 tickets are on sale now for the following stellar lineup of gigs:

On July 21, the rockers will perform at the Sandown Park Racecourse and will then go on to play a concert at the Newmarket Rowley Mile Racecourse on July 23.This follows the release of the Razorlight documentary ‘Rock and Roll Lies’ which hit cinemas last December.

Razorlight set for cinema debut

Razorlight are due to hit the big screen next week as the documentary ‘Rock and Roll Lies’ is set for its premiere.

The premiere of the Razorlight documentary is set to take place in London on December 8 and will be introduced by the director and the band’s frontman, Johnny Borrell. The documentary will also be available on the online tv service, Bablegum, the following day.

Razorlight have one live date remaining this year, Johnny Borrell and co. will perform at the o2 Brixton Academy on December 16.

Tom Jones and David Gray confirmed for charity gig

Tom Jones will join a host of other acts for the Nordoff-Robbins 'Rockwell' charity gig at the London O2 Arena

Tom Jones and David Gray are just two of the acts in the line-up to play a charity gig at the London O2 Arena on September 11 for the Nordoff-Robbins Trust.

Razorlight, Joss Stone, Supergrass and Robert Plant are the other acts confirmed to perform the ‘Rockwell’ show, where unique collaborations are to be expected.

Robert Plant took part in the 1990 show for the Nordoff-Robbins charity at Knebworth, where 120,000 people attended the concert and raised over three million pounds.

The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy is the largest of its kind in the UK, where thousands of therapy sessions help improve the quality of life for children and adults suffering from illness, mental health issues, autism and other learning difficuties.

Pre-sale tickets for Rockwell are available from August 3 at 9am.

Some of the acts confirmed for the Rockwell gig are also set to perform elsewhere in the UK.

The Tom Jones tour begins with three shows at the Cardiff International Arena (October 9-11) and will also play at the Manchester Evening News Arena (October 16), Liverpool Echo Arena (October 17) and the London Wembley Arena (October 24).

The three-date David Gray tour will play at the London Roundhouse (September 14), Manchester Ritz Ballroom (September 15) and the Glasgow ABC (September 16).

Razorlight are due to appear at the V Festival, which takes place at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park (August 22-23).

Supergrass are going to perform with the Lightning Seeds and The View at the West Sussex Arundal Castle on August 21.

It has recently been revealed that Little Boots and The Maccabees will join the list of top acts set to perform at this year’s Oxegen Festival which is set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse this summer (July 10-12)

Bands including The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon and Blur have already been confirmed as the headline acts for the 2009 Oxegen Festival.

White Lies, Maximo Park, and The View have been added to this years Isle of Wight festival.

The hugely popular event which is set to take place between 12 & 14 at Seaclose Park will now also include appearances from The Rifles, The Zombies and Paolo Nutini as well as The Australian Pink Floyd Show and Ultravox who will also perform at the festival.

The Pixies will be kicking off the festival with a rare appearance having only performed intermittently since their 2005 headline shows at Reading and Leeds festivals. Razorlight Drummer Quits

Andy Burrows has offically announed his decision to leave his role as drummer for top selling British band Razorlight. In a statement on the band’s website, he called the past five years an ‘amazing experience’ but has decided to leave the band ‘for personal reasons’.

Burrows who joined the band in 2004 after the departure of original drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo recently recorded a charity solo album and is credited with writing the band’s biggest hit single, America.

Rumours of his departure surface when Burrows failed to play at a Razorlight gig in Wolverhampton on 2 March and was replaced by David Sullivan-Kaplan.

Frontman Johnny Borrell said he would ‘miss’ the drummer, but is adamant the band will continue recording without him.

‘Over the last two albums and five years, Andy has been an integral part of Razorlight and we will miss him,’ he said ‘He’s been a great player and a great friend and I think we’ll both always be proud of the music we’ve made together,’ added Borrell.

David Sullivan-Kaplan will extend his stay as stand in drummer for Razorlight, who are currently touring the US until the end of the year.

Razorlight have recently announced a tour beginning in Glasgow King Tuts (May 2), Buxton Opera House (May 4), Leamington Spa The Assembly (May 5), London O2 Arena (May 7) and also Manchester MEN Arena (May 9). The band are also due to perfoem at several summer festivals including the Isle of Wight, V festival and T in the Park. Razorlight tickets are still available from £26.

V Festival Chelmsford Tickets sell out in under two hours

Tickets for the V Festival’s Chelmsford site have sold out in less than two hours this morning according to the events organisers.

Meanwhile the final few tickets available for the Weston Park site of the two site two day festival are quickly diminishing after they went on sale at 10am this morning (March 6).

Oasis will also be playing live in the UK this summer. The Oasis tour kicks off with three shows at Heaton Park in Manchester (June 4, 6 &7). Oasis play seven further dates including performances at Sunderland Stadium of Light (June 10), Cardiff Millennium Stadium (June 12), Murrayfield Stadium in Glasgow (June 17) and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena (July 7). Glasvegas, Doves and Eagles of Death Metal to join Oxegen 2009

Glasvegas, Doves Nine Inch Nails, Pet Shop Boy’s and Jane’s Addiction have been confirmed to perform at Ireland’s Oxegen festival this summer.

The Saturdays, Eagles Of Death Metal, Dreadzone, God Is An Astronaut, Tom Middleton,Aeroplane, Gary Go and Hudson Mohawke have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse in Ireland on July 10 and 12.

Oxegen 2009 is promising to be one of the stand out festivals of the year with the likes of Lily Allen, Keane,and The Specials joining acts such as The Killers, Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Fans will also have the many more chance to see Oxegen fesitival acts as many will be on tour this summer including, The Killers, Razorlight, Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol, Blur, White lies, Elbow, Ting Tings and Pete Doherty.

The Killers summer tour starts in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena (February 21), before moving on to venues including London’s O2 Arena (February 23 &24), Cardiff International Arena (February 28), Aberdeen Exhibition Centre (March 5) and the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (March 7). The Killers tour comes to a close with two back to back shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (March 9 & 10). Killers tickets are currently available from £56.

Snow Patrol are currently on the road with a mammoth Snow Patrol tour featuring performances at the Glasgow SECC (February 25), Liverpool Echo Arena (March 6), Cardiff International Arena (March and Nottingham Trent FM Arena (March 12). Tickets for Blur’s long awaited return show at Manchester MEN (June 26) Arena are available this morning (February 13) this show will be followed by the already sold out Blur concerts at London’s Hyde Park (July 2 , 3). Blur tickets are available from £25.

Tv On The Radio, Lady GaGa and Of Montreal are the latest acts to be added to this summer’s T in the Park festival line up.

The first stage of the 2009 The Katy Perry tour kicks off on February 25 at Manchester Academy. Katy Perry then visits the KOKO club in London where she will play two back-to-back shows (February 26 &27). V Festival snag Oasis and Killers as headline acts

It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.

Oasis will be adding this V festival performance to their already extensive world tour which will see them return to the UK later this year including some epic shows at the City of Manchester stadium and Wembley.

Meanwhile The killers will be adding the V festival to a series of other summer festival headline appearances at Oxegen and T in the park. This follows a February and March UK tour for the busy and increasing popular American group.

Oasis and the Killers will be joined by Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Fatboy Slim, Keane, The Specials, Elbow, James, Lily Allen, The Enemy, Pendulum, The Script, Biffy Clyro, The Ting Tings, Paolo Nutini, MGMT, Katy Perry, The Wombats, James Morrison, Peter Doherty, The Streets, Lady GaGa, Dizzee Rascal, Happy Mondays, Seasick Steve, Ocean Colour Scene The Saturdays, British Sea Power, Taylor Swift, Alesha Dixon.

Razorlight plan US visit

Razorlight have recently announced that they will be heading to the east coast in March to begin their 2009 US tour. The Razorlight tour begins in Boston on March 9 before visiting New York (March 10) and Philidelphia (March 11). Razorlight then stop off at Chicago on their way to Texas for the 2009 SXSW music festival. The US Razorlight tour comes to a close in San Francisco on March 24.

Before heading over to the United States, Razorlight are set to play two UK show. Razorlight will perform at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on March 1 followed by the University of Lincoln on March 2.

The 2009 Razorlight tour begins in May. Razorlight kick things off at Glasgow King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut (May2) before making their way to the Buxton Opera House (May 4) and the Leamington Spa Assembly. Stereophonics and Razorlight to Headline UK festival

It has recently been confirmed that Stereophonics and Razorlight will both perform on the Saturday (June 13) at the Isle Of Wight festival.

The 2009 Isle of Wight Festival takes place between June 12 and 14 at Seaclose Park. The festival is set to be one of the events of the summer and will feature performances from the likes of The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx and Tings Tings. 2009 Isle of Wight Festival tickets are still available with prices from £160.

A number of the 2009 Isle of Wight Festival headline acts will be on the road in the UK before the festival takes place.

The Stereophonics have been confirmed as one of the acts to play the 2009 Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts in March. Stereophonics will perform at the London Royal Albert Hall on March 26 and Stereophonics tickets are still available.

The Prodigy embark on their ten date UK tour in April. The Prodigy tour kicks off at the Cardiff International Arena on April 5 before calling at Glasgow SECC (April 7), MEN Arena (April 10) and Brighton Centre (April 14). Promoter’s MCD have announced that The Killers have joined the line-up for this year’s Oxegen festival.

Having also confirmed a series of festival appearances this summer including T In The Park, the Las Vegas band will also headline the Irish festival for the second year in a row at Punchestown Racecourse between July 10-12.

Razorlight have recently announced details of a 2009 tour which is set to kick off at King Tut’s in Glasgow on May 2.
