Biffy Clyro Announce One-off UK Show in June

Scottish rockers, Biffy Clyro announced earlier today that they would be adding to their already scheduled festival slots, with a one-off headline performance of their own. Previously booked to play Download Festival, Rockness and Isle of Wight this summer, The Biff will also now perform their own show at Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre on the 8th June as a warm up to the summer events.

The band also told of their plans for the folllow-up album to 2009′s ‘Only Revolutions’, saying that their new album will consist of two records called; ‘The Land At The End Of Our Toes’ and ‘The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones’. Speaking about the conecpt behind the release, Drummer Ben Johnston told NME; “We don’t want to pigeon hole it as a ‘big rock album’, so we’re trying to make a diverse collection of songs”.

Tickets go on sale on Monday 14th May at 9am.

Tickets for next year’s Rockness festival have gone on sale today.

The festival takes place at Clune Farm, on the shores of Loch Ness, and the 2012 edition will begin on Friday June 8th. The weekend event is renowned for its mix of great atmosphere and great music, and next year’s festival is sure to be no different. Rockness 2011 featured headline sets from Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers and Paolo Nutini. No doubt fans who buy tickets for 2012 are in for another stellar line-up.

Paolo Nutini reveals new album plans

Scottish singer and songwriter Paolo Nutini has confirmed that he is close to completing his third studio album.

Following from his 2006 breakthrough These Streets, and the hit 2009 album Sunny Side Up, Nutini has revealed that all tracks have been recorded and just need to be put them in the right order, saying, “it can’t be too long now.” He describes the upcoming record as having “a bigger sort of sound” to his previous albums, and hopes the album will allow for longer festival sets. The Scot has just wowed crowds with a headline slot at Rockness on Sunday night, including smash hits Jenny Don’t Be Hasty and New Shoes.

Nutini will play Glastonbury and Latitude festivals this summer. Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now, with Nutini playing on the Saturday.

Mark Ronson designed fiancee engagement ring

Mark Ronson surprised girlfriend Josephine De La Baume when he proposed on a La Rochelle beach with a bespoke ring.

The 26 year old actress and model was surprised by Marks proposal and by her own reaction, as she had thought she didn’t wanted to get married but found herself ”super-excited” “even more excited than annoying girls in romantic comedies.”

The couple have been dating for two years and tie the knot on September the 3rd, in her parents house in Provence. Mark designed a yellow diamond ring with is ‘beautiful’ according to Josephine.

Mark performs this weekend at Rockness Festival and The Old Royal Naval College in july.

Boxer Rebellion announce new single release

The Boxer Rebellion have announced their new single ‘The Runner’ will be released digitally on June the 27th.

The alternative rock quartet have release their second single from their third album released earlier this year, the epic, ‘The Cold Still’.

The single is released with a new video and free remix by The Joy Formidable. The video reflects the the honesty and fragility of the lyrics according to director Ishbel Whittaker ” we wanted to make something that was playful and naughty, but also profound, raw and honest. We compressed 24 hours of a drunken roller-coaster of highs and lows, passion and heartache, into 4 minutes.” adding ” The fact that it’s two girls shouldn’t be an issue. we say “why not?” love is love”

Mark Ronson to record movie soundtrack

Producer and artist Mark Ronson has been invited to record original music for new film ‘Arthur’, which will open next month.

The movie stars Russell Brand and is a remake of the 1980′s film of the same name which starred Dudley Moore.

Ronson has been in demand recently, having also been asked to work with Culture Club. Ronson has already appeared with Boy George on his song ‘Somebody to Love Me.’

It has recently been announced that Ronson will appear at this year’s RockNess Festival, in addition to headliners The Chemical Brothers, Kasabian and Paolo Nutini.

The festival will take place on the banks of the famous Loch Ness near Inverness over the weekend of June 10th-12th.

Glasvegas, Mark Ronson and The Cribs added to RockNess line-up

More huge acts have been added to this years RockNess line-up in addition to previously announced headliners, The Chemical Brothers, Kasabian and Paolo Nutini.

Glasvegas, Mark Ronson and The Cribs have joined the line-up for the festival in Scotland. Other new additions to the bill include The Wombats, Two Door Cinema Club, Magnetic, We Are Scientists and DJ Shadow.

In a special treat, Groove Armada have also confirmed they will debut their new audio visual concept performance, called Groove Armada Presents Red Light.

The festival will take place on the banks of the famous Loch Ness near Inverness over the weekend of June 10th-12th.

Kasabian and Chemical Brothers to headline Rockness 2011

Kasabian and The Chemical Brothers have been confirmed to headline next year’s Rockness Festival. The event will take place amongst the beautiful surroundings of The Loch Ness in Dores, Inverness from the 10th to 12th June 2011. Chemical Brothers have headlined the festival previously, back in 2007, whilst Kasabian have also been confirmed for this year’s Benicassim Festival and The Isle Of Wight Festival.

More big names are set to be announced for the festival’s 5th year anniversary.

Rockness tickets will go on general sale on Friday 26th November.

Doves have evolved a great deal more than many bands. In the 1990s they were a dance act called Sub Sub, who reached number 3 in the UK singles chart with their song Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use). Then their studio burnt down. The group had to start afresh, and instead of picking up where they left off they began to craft a melancholy alternative rock sound and renamed themselves Doves. Debut album Lost Souls proved a big hit with both fans and critics, and so finally Doves had found their niche.

Doves embark on a UK tour this spring, including a date in support of the Forestry Commission and an Eden Session at the Eden Project, as well as appearances at RockNess, Isle Of Wight and V Festivals! Tickets are on sale now, and a full list of dates is below:

Pendulum to headline Clash Arena at RockNess

Pendulum have been confirmed as the Friday night headliners in the Clash Arena at this year’s RockNess festival. The Aussie ravers have been announced as the latest big-name act at this summer’s event in Clune Farm, Inverness.

Many weren’t expecting such a huge name for the Clash Arena slot, but organisers have wowed festival fans once again with the addition of Pendulum to an already impressive line-up.

Other names already confirmed to entertain the RockNess crowd include Fatboy Slim, The Strokes, Leftfield, Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Friendly Fires, Ian Brown and Doves.

Tickets are still available for what is shaping up to be a momentous three days in Inverness.

Vampire Weekend confirmed as RockNess Lineup begins to take shape

Vampire Weekend have been added to the lineup for RockNess festival at Loch Ness this June. The festival, which only took place for the first time in 2006, has grown in popularity every year since its conception, and calls itself “the only festival with its own monster”, due to the much-debated presence of the loch’s very own Nessie!

RockNess 2010 will be headlined by The Strokes, Leftfield and Fatboy Slim. It will also feature Doves, Ian Brown, 2 Many DJ’s, Chase and Status, Friendly Fires and many more.

The Strokes added to Rockness Line-up

Shortly after announcing they would be performing at the 2010 Isle Of Wight Festival, The Strokes have also confirmed that they will be also playing at next year’s Rockness Festival in Scotland.

Other acts scheduled to perform at the 2010 Rockness festival include Friendly Fires, 2ManyDjs and Annie Mac.

Rock Ness 2010 takes place on the edge of Loch Ness from June 11 to June 13.
