The smash hit singer performed on the main stage before headliner Eminem, and the penultimate song of her setlist was Marley’s 1980 classic Redemption Song. Rihanna has covered the song before, including a performance on Oprah and for charity Haiti Live, and the V Festival performance can be watched below. She also included many of her chart hits, such as S&M, Man Down, Only Girl (In The World), Run This Town and Unfaithful. The 80-minute set finished with crowd favourite Umbrella.

Rihanna will tour the UK this autumn, performing at arenas across the country, including seven shows at London’s O2 Arena.

In an addition to the fourteen shows already announced, the Britpop band will also play Bournemouth O2 Academy on November 26th and Bristol O2 Academy on November 27th. These shows become the first of the tour, which ends on December 22nd at York’s Barbican.

The singer has confirmed details of concerts in Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland France and Denmark to take place throughout September and October, in support of the release of her seventh studio album.

Since releasing her debut album Baby One More Time, back in 1999, Britney Spears has established herself as somewhat of a pop icon. The singer has produced numerous hits over the past decade, including the likes of Oops I Did It Again, Toxic and Womanizer.

This year, she will embark on her first tour since 2009, with US shows set to begin in July.

Following the confirmation of her European shows, Britney Spears UK tour dates are expected to be announced shortly.

It was a collapse reminiscent of Nick Faldo’s final Masters triumph, 15 years ago, when the English golfer won after Greg Norman slid to a closing round of 78, going from six strokes ahead to five behind.

“He’s young and I am sure he will regroup and come back stronger,” said Faldo. “He was thrown in at the deep end and this is a serious deep end. You are there on your own, things get out of sync and you lose your tempo.”

This Wednesday sees Aston Villa take on a rejuvenated Sunderland team, and both will have many points to prove. Villa are unbeaten in eight, but with five of those eight games being draws and four of those draws insipid 0-0 affairs, to label the team as in form is a tad misleading. Sunderland have had an unusual 09-10 to say the least. Having begun the season in encouraging fashion with a draw at Manchester United and victories over Liverpool and Arsenal, they looked at the very least certain to cement a mid-table position. After defeating Arsenal in November though, Sunderland went into a bizarre freefall and only achieved their next victory in March when they thrashed Bolton Wanderers 4-0. They now look safe from the relegation scrap though, with seven points between them and the bottom three, and will now be looking up the table again.

At this stage last season, fatigue caught up with Aston Villa dramatically. A rather odd statistic is that last Tuesday’s win over Wigan was their first victory in the month of March in Martin O’Neill’s entire reign at the club, and although squad depth is greater than last year, there is still a reliance on certain players – Milner, Agbonlahor and Ashley Young to name a few.

The last two French champions clash in Ligue 1 this weekend when Olympique Lyon meet Girondins de Bordeaux.

Reigning champions Bordeaux currently top the table and hold a four point lead against the second place Montpellier though the Mediteranean side do have a game in hand. Lyon missed out on the title last season for the first time in eight years having won seven in a row  – their only titles – in the years prior to that.

This season has been similarly unspectacular so far which is possibly to be expected with the departure of strike sensation Karim Benzema to Real Madrid in the summer. Lyon are treading water in fourth place with just one win from their last four league games but they will take heart from their midweek thumping of Debrecen in the UEFA Champions League.

Bordeaux either win or lose having drawn just once this season. They will also be buoyant after their European escapades having finished top of a tricky group ahead of Bayern Munich and Juventus.

England face South Africa on Friday in the final ODI looking for an historic series win.

The tourists currently lead 2-1 in the series and know that another victory in Kingsmead would make them only the second team to win a one-day series in South Africa since readmission – Australia being the other.

With the first match washed out, the next three games have swung like a pendulum from one team to the other. The second ODI saw England saunter past South Africa’s modest total of 250 with seven wckets in hand but the third ODI saw a completely different script.

The Proteas blasted their way to 354 for 6 from their 50 overs and England were never able to keep up with the rate eventually crumbling to 242 all out. If the home side thought their fortunes had changed however they were in for a rude awakening.

A sensational bowling performance from England and especially James Anderson – who claimed his first ever five-wicket haul in international limited overs cricket – ripped through the South African top order, skittling all ten wickets for a mere 119 runs. A half century from Jonathan Trott saw the tourists cruise to a seven wicket victory.

England have had the indian sign over their hosts in 50-over cricket for while now. A win in the ICC Champions Trophy was preceeded in 2008 by a series whitewash in England’s favour and there is clearly something about Andrew Strauss and his men that gets underneath their opponents skin.

But they could win the ODI series without even bowling a bowl. The weather in Durban has been dreadful with torrential rain leaving pools of water on the outfield. A washout would take England into the history books and set up the forthcoming test series perfectly.

Green Day won the “Favourite Rock Artist” gong at the 37th American Music Awards in Los Angeles on 22 November.  They scooped the prize in front of favourites Kings of Leon in a show which saw Michael Jackson win four posthumous awards, and Taylor Swift, who won an astonishing five awards including “Artist of the Year”.

Denman triumphed over his stablemates Kauto Star last year but since then has had treatment for heart problems and has looked unconvincing this season. Meanwhile Kauto Star, the 2007 winner, has bounced back in style this season and on his last appearance in the King George VI Chase in December was a comfortable winner.
