A show insider said: “Frankie is devastated but he has broken a golden rule so producers had no option but to axe him.

“He had an extra boost from being kept in at the weekend when he thought he was going to go.

“But now his dream is officially over and he only has himself to blame.”

The band’s third album, the follow-up to 2009′s I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose and 2010′s Flaws, was released on August 29th. The Telegraph were quick to give the album four stars, saying the album “is as focused and beautiful a collection of rock songs as they have made.” Blare Magazine calls it “a startling collection of work” and praises its “honest sense of creativity.” The BBC describes it as “a lot flush with giddy enthusiasm and sunshine.”

To showcase the record, the band are set to tour the UK this autumn, kicking off on September 30th at the Brighton Dome.

So far, two shows have been confirmed, at London’s HMV Forum on December 5th and Newport Centre on December 7th. The world tour is taking place to showcase their eleventh record, Forevermore, their first since 2008′s Good To Be Bad. Before the UK leg, the band will travel to the USA, South America, East Asia and Eastern Europe.

The series of live gigs and DJ sets take place at the renowned Amnesia superclub, said to be the “world’s best club”. The events started on July 1st, and have so far seen artists including Snoop Dogg, 2 Many DJs and Mark Ronson & The Business International take to the stage. For her new video, Gaga has embraced a cross gender look and created an alter-ego called Jo Calderone. This certainly won’t be the first time Gaga will have dressed in an unusual manner, who could forget her slightly controversial meat dress.

The news of her style change comes just after she has been accused of plagiarism by Rebecca Francescatti, who acused Gaga of ripping off her single Juda with Gaga’s track Judas. According to TMZ.com, Francescatti is going to file a lawsuit against the American pop star over these claims.

It sold out really quickly, which surprised me, because you’re never quite sure how things will be received, especially after such a passage of time, but we had a great time so we thought, ‘why not tour it?’”

Sade kicked off their return to the States and their 54 date tour at Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena.

Their set is a delivery of old-loved favourites and new award winning ‘Soldier of Love’, feeling every inch the Ultimate Collection. Although material has been sparse over the ten years, the audience weren’t, enthusiastic fans nearly drowned out the band. Surprisingly the eight piece band and Sad Adu were subtly loud. Small gestures made a huge impact, reminding us of why we love Sade so much and welcome their return.

From the sultry grooves of ‘Smooth Operator’ and ‘The Sweetest Taboo’ to the hushed tones of ‘Pearls’, although Adu is in her 50s she hasn’t aged, the music is still relevant and absorbing.

A wonderful gig that will whet your appetite – you will find yourself indulging in Sade old and new, impossible not to be humming songs for the next week.

Rihanna’s video has being causing arguments left, right and centre. Parent councils have asked for it to be banned as it promotes retaliation to abuse “in the form of pre-meditated murder”. Rihanna has stood her ground saying it gives ‘a voice to victims’.

Now joining the debate is actress Gabrielle Union, best know for her roles in ‘Bad Boys II’, ’10 Things I Hate About You’ and ‘Bring It On’.  She has praised Rihanna for tackling such a subject: “Every victim/survivor of rape is unique, including how they THINK they’d like justice to be handed out.” Gabrielle revealed that she too had been raped and had attempted to shoot her rapist although unsuccessful she is relieved she didn’t.

Rihanna has defended her ‘Man Down’ video saying it gives a voice to victims of abuse.

The controversial video has caused a series of debates from parents groups vying for it to be banned to ex boyfriends and tweeter rage.

Rihanna is standing her ground insisting that the video gives a voice a senstive subject and victims of abuse: ”We just wanted to hone in on a very serious matter that people are afraid to address, especially if you’ve been victimized in this scenario,”

The singer has tried to reason by drawing on her own experience and the importance of highlighting the serious and sensitive problem:
“I’ve been abused in the past and you don’t see me running around killing people in my spare time. If I can be a voice for so many that aren’t heard, then I win twice.”

Melissa Henson (director of public education for the Parents Television Council) has also come to Rihanna’s defense saying:  ”Rihanna’s personal story and status as a celebrity superstar provided a golden opportunity for the singer to send an important message to female victims of rape and domestic violence”

“Duran Duran have both a musical connection and a personal history with Ibiza, but we’ve never actually done a show on the island, despite going there and enjoying everything it has to offer for years,” Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon explained in a statement. “With our roots firmly in dance and electronic culture, Ibiza has always been a part of our musical DNA, so we’re really looking forward to finally performing there at Amnesia, which is certainly one of the island’s best clubs.”

Other acts confirmed to be playing include 2MANYDJS and Mark Ronson, with two one-hour programmes going out on MTV in August and September.

The former Beatles drummer is to kick off the tour on June 4 in Ukraine and will visit Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Poland, the UK, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Holland and Germany. He will finish up in Austria on July 17.

He will tour with the latest incarnation of his All-Starr Band, whom he has performed with consistently since 1989. Previous members of the All-Starr band include Cream’s Jack Bruce, The Zombie’s Rod Argent and his son Zak Starkey.

The ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ singer took to the stage in front of 8,000 people at RMIT University in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, on Sunday evening.

The concert is part of the 69-year-old folk star’s Asia-Pacific tour, which marks 50 years since his first major performance, and on Wednesday saw him play in China for the first time.

Although The AP reports that the young crowd were largely unfamiliar with Dylan’s contribution to the anti-Vietnam War movement, older concert goers also came out in force to revel in the music legend’s timeless message of peace.

“Bob Dylan’s music opened up a path where music was used as a weapon to oppose the war in Vietnam and fight injustice and racism,” Tran Long An, vice-president of the Vietnam Composers’ Association, stated.

Arkansas native Stan Karber, who served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and now resides in the country, added: “We listened to anything that spoke of peace. We called him the peace poet.”

Dylan will next perform in Hong Kong and Singapore, before moving onto Australia later this week and playing European dates in June, including the London Feis.

The Femme Fatale star announced a string of US dates with Enrique Iglesias last week but just hours after the joint tour was revealed, Iglesias pulled out.

The Sun claims that Sony record bosses have gone ‘ballistic’ over Spears’s request to push back the gigs.

“Britney has told her management that she wants to push back her concert dates because she’s not feeling ready,” a source told the paper. “She doesn’t feel she has enough time to prepare and has asked management to pull all her dates and postpone everything until later on in the year.

“She’s a perfectionist and wants everything to be better than ever before. She is having to compete with other huge female stars such as Rihanna and Lady Gaga now so wants to step the show up.”

The insider continued: “Obviously it’s gone down like a lead balloon because venues and staff are booked and ready to go. They are trying to talk her round or at least hoping she’ll consider going out in September.

“Either way, there are a lot of meetings going on about how to announce it and handle it. It’s a massive headache.”
