The cheeky, cockney comedian has built up a strong following after years of touring the UK circuit got his big break when performing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and Mock The Week. In 2007 he was nominated for ‘Best Newcomer‘ at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and has since toured his sell-out show, The Out Out Tour.

There is plenty to see and do, and this summer looks set to be one of London’s busiest in years, with both the elite forces of Sport and Music all converging on one City. The festival has already announced headline acts like; Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller, but had kept back a few suprises for closer the time. New acts across a variety of stages were yesterday released, with some highlights being; Catherine AD, Slow Club, King Charles, Smoke Fairies and Of Monsters And Men.

At The Lake Stage, BBC Radio 1 DJ and champion of new music, Huw Stephens has been asked to curate his own line-up. Headline slots go to sonically challenging, electro-indie group Clock Opera, while other acts include:

Sadler’s Wells will present an excerpt from the hugely popular Sadler’s Wells Production, The Most Incredible Thing on The Waterfront Stage. A collaboration between pop legends Pet Shop Boys and choreographer/director Javier De Frutos, The Most Incredible Thing, won the Evening Standard’s inaugural Beyond Theatre Award after its premiere in 2011, and recently enjoyed a return run at the theatre this spring.

On the Film and Music Arena Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and co-director Nick Abraham present their new film The Bruce Lacey Experience. Three years in the making, the film examines Lacey’s remarkable legacy as an all-round cultural chameleon. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jeremy Deller. The Royal Albert Hall arrives at Latitude presenting the innovative violinist Hahn-Bin. One of the world’s most exciting and original classical musicians, Hahn-Bin is not only a prodigious talent but a style visionary who recently graced the cover of fashion bible i-D Magazine. Hahn-Bin recently launched The Renaissance of Classical Music, a project which aims to bring the style into mainstream culture.

In the Comedy Arena, Jack Dee, Brian Cox, Tim Minchin and others will be joined by Phill Jupitus, as well as multi award-winning, fringe sell-out, mind reader who can’t read minds, Chris Cox and revered Canadian stand-up Tony Law will be regaling audiences with his time travelling exploits in the company of his infamous sausage dog.

With the fall in the number of traditional summer festivals in the UK this year, Latitude is surely one of the hottest tickets in town for those who want to while the days away baking in a sweaty tent and drinking warm cider.

Rihanna is currently on the final leg of her 2011 World Tour, and is set to perform shows across the UK throughout November and December, including a headline appearance at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball. Rihanna tickets are on sale now.

The UK star will join a line-up consisting of the likes of One Direction, Ed Sheeran, JLS, The Saturdays, Wretch 32 and Emeli Sande on the Sunday night of the event. The Saturday line-up will star Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Olly Murs, The Wanted, Pixie Lott, Labrinth and Jason Derulo.

This year’s Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball will take place at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December.

The singer is currently hosting the Xtra Factor on ITV2, the accompanying show to the television series that helped make his name back in 2009. He is set to release his second studio album next month, titled In Case You Didn’t Know.

Extra Olly Murs tour dates have been confirmed to take place at Cardiff Motorpoint Arena on the 2nd February, London O2 Arena on the 5th and Aberdeen Exhibition Centre on the 22nd.

Olly Murs tickets for the new shows will go on sale this Friday, whilst tickets for all of the UK artist’s other arena shows are on sale now.

The group confirmed their reunion earlier this week, and will be showcasing new material to the thousands in attendance, as well as performing classic tracks such as Fools Gold and Waterfall.

Tickets are now only available from fan-to-fan exchange websites, with hundreds of listings having already appeared.

Rumours are suggesting that the original line-up of the Manchester band – Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary “Mani” Mounfield and drummer Alan “Reni” Wren – will reform for UK gigs next year.

It is being suggested that the band have lined up a number of hometown shows at Heaton Park in Manchester, as well as planning to release new material.

The group have recently toured the US, with manager Jared Paul now on the verge of revealing UK and European dates to fans.

The tour looks set to go ahead in Spring 2012, with Paul suggesting on Twitter that live shows be exclusive to major UK cities, posting, “prob not as many regional dates but yes not just london, manchester, bham, etc. Working on routing, its changed ten times. I want the best venues on the best nites fo u all.”

Details of Coldplay tour dates are expected to be announced shortly, with the band rumoured to have lined up shows in early 2012.

The event is due to get underway this Thursday, 8th September, with performances from the likes of Pendulum, Bjork, The Cure, Primal Scream, PJ Harvey and Brian Wilson set top take place across the weekend.

Bad weather has hit the festival in previous years, most notably in 2009, but this has never prevented fans from enjoying the array of entertainment on offer.

The last remaining Bestival tickets for this years event are available to buy online.

It is reported that he will confirm full tour dates and tickets details next week, but so far it has been confirmed that he will perform at Manchester Academy on November 10th. More shows are expected to surround this show.

One of the UK’s biggest solo artists, he will showcase songs from his upcoming fourth album on the tour. His first single from the album, Spaceship, reached number 5 in the UK Singles Chart.

The pioneering indie band, who have twice split up over disputes between frontmen Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, are said to be planning a 2011 UK tour. This will then be followed by an early 2012 European tour, and a number of festivals in the summer.

The news came from a source in yesterday’s Sunday Mirror, which said: “Pete and Carl really enjoyed reforming the band last year for the Reading and Leeds festivals. Now Pete’s out of prison and trying to stay clean, getting the band back together is his main priority. Fortunately Carl is open to the idea of touring and getting back to what they were famous for. So long as Pete is relatively on the straight and narrow, the world is their oyster.”

The Libertines tour dates 2011 should be revealed soon.

Life’s Too Short focuses on the life of fictional actor Warwick Davis and will have lots of cameos from stars. Last week it was confirmed that Johnny Depp, Cat Deeley and Sting will be on the show amongst others. And today it has been revealed that Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham Carter will also star.

Life’s Too Short will air later this year and will be sure to be another comedy hit from Ricky Gervais. Fans are also hopeful that Gervais will tour with his stand up show again, although as of yet no dates have been confirmed.

Kings Of Leon were forced to cancel their US tour, at an estimated cost of $15million after lead singer Caleb Followill was allegedly diagnosed with vocal problems and exhaustion. Rumours are suggesting that he is actually battling with alcohol problems. Isaac Hanson told WENN: “I have a hard time with musicians who act like pricks because it just makes me mad. If you’re actually making a living doing it [making music], pinch yourself everyday, because it goes if you don’t love it and people will eventually get pissed off.”

He continued, apparently giving advice: “I’m gonna call somebody out on it – Kings Of Leon are running some risks. They’re irritating people and you can’t do that too much. Eventually the bad boy image affects fans’ willingness to show up. Their fans will get bummed out. Everyone has their demons, everyone has their challenges. I’m a bit of a hothead in certain circumstances, but you gotta temper it because your fans are there and they’ve paid good money to see a show, and you gotta bring it.”

Hanson will play at next weekend’s V Festival, and are touring the UK in Novemeber.

The hit art rock band released their universally acclaimed debut, The Fool, in October 2010, and guitarist Theresa Wyeman told NME that they were regularly thinking about the second album: “We’re all meditating on it everyday. Somebody will make up something while we’re soundchecking and we’ll be like, ‘Don’t forget that because I really want to develop that, there’s something special there.”

The all-female band also revealed the sound will be considerably different to their debut: “It’s sounding quite minimal so far which is interesting because it’s the opposite of what we’ve been doing which is normally pretty complex. I think it’ll be interesting to try and simplify that and we should experiment more with some acoustic guitars.”

Their second album is expected to be recorded in early 2012. The band will play at Reading and Leeds festivals at the end of August.

Reports claim that Simon Cowell wants her to perform on both the UK and US shows, and is currently negotiating with her. It is also rumoured that she was asked to appear in the judge’s house part of the show, but was too busy. The Daily Star quotes a source as saying: “There’s no denying Adele is the biggest singer in the world right now and Simon wants her to appear on both the UK and US X Factors. He couldn’t get her for the judge’s houses stage, so he now wants her to sing with one of the contestants on the grand final in December.”

After the final, the contestants will tour the UK in February.

The London concert appeared on a live events website over the past weekend, with many of the band’s admirers keen to get hold of tickets to the show. The group did not comment on the rumour, despite a number of messages being posted directly onto their official Facebook page.

Two and a half years on from that moment and where does he stand? Playing again in the Indian middle order, but only due to the absence of Sehwag and Gambhir. He sits behind Suresh Raina, probably Cheteshwar Pujara and maybe soon Virat Kohli in the pecking order, especially now that the Indian injury hoodoo has struck to rule him out of the remainder of the series.

It was painful to watch both Yuvraj and Raina struggle so desperately against the short ball at Trent Bridge and both have received enough criticism for it. But if I had to pick which player is more likely to come away from the match and practice and persevere, accept the blows on the body with determination and return to conquer the demons, I would undoubtedly choose Raina. Five years younger than Yuvraj and already picked once to captain his country in the absence of the senior players, Raina shows more ability to shoulder responsibility and will to be the best he can be than Yuvraj does.

So what is it with Yuvraj? He’s clearly got a huge amount of talent and is very rewarding to watch in full flow, but three test centuries in 35 matches tells its own story. A mischievous person might suggest that Yuvraj is all to happy bashing out sixes on a national highway in Hyderabad (quote Harbhajan Singh), but when confronted with the challenge of a swinging ball and short pitched bowling, he just doesn’t fancy it.

My fear is that he’ll fancy it even less after having the index finger on his left hand broken by a Tim Bresnan bouncer. But even before that moment, and indeed right back to the start of the test match, Yuvraj’s body language was interesting to watch. His fielding was passable, but lacked the electricity and commitment that one might expect to have seen from a player trying to force his way back into the first XI. His first innings batting garnered results, but he was dropped early in an innings which was far from chanceless.

It’s true that every player is different, and Yuvraj is much closer to the insouciance of a Chris Gayle than the flinty-eyed focus of a Dravid or a Jonathan Trott, but can it really be the case that his obvious failures at the highest level do not irk him? He is undoubtedly a rich man due to his skills in the game’s shortest form, and he is at the moment secured of a place within India’s limited-overs sides, so why should he feel the need to focus all his will on regaining his test place?

To me, he need not go far to find out the answer: just ask Sachin. Or for that matter Dravid, Laxman or Sehwag. All four are famed and revered for their achievements in test matches, and two of them haven’t played the shorter forms of the international game for some time. The game will move on from them and their era, that’s for sure, but it’s still test cricket that gives the fullest and most challenging inspection of a batsman’s worth, both technically, mentally and physically. A Yusuf Pathan or a Kieron Pollard can belt any number of fifties and hundreds in the shorter forms of the game, but until they’ve compiled a few Dravidian test match centuries, they won’t be counted amongst the greats of the game.

And so here is my challenge to Yuvraj Singh: do you want to be remembered as a great batsman? Do you want to be recalled in the same breath as the likes of Tendulkar, or consigned to a footnote of cricket history? Do you want to bask in personal glory, or live, however rich, in complacency?

You can come back from this and succeed Yuvi. One sparkling innings of redemption…you just have to want it enough.

The NME reports that Pip told of the second song of the album Let ‘Em Come that, “This was the song that made me want to make this record… it’s hard to sum up but I guess it’s about sticking at something that you are passionate about past those exciting first few years, and keeping that passion despite the obstacles and pitfalls.”

He commented during a recent interview with Mojo Magazine, “Some were written on the last [Oasis] tour, when I used to feel them out by getting my acoustic guitar and strumming them after soundcheck, because you sound like Jesus in a big arena.”

Stump started working on the solo record following the hiatus Fall Out Boy took in 2009, although it is confirmed that the emo rockers will be back in the near future.

It is hoped that Patrick Stump will announce a UK tour to support the new album, although no dates have been confirmed yet.

Previously the band have produced two vinyls from their most recent album The King of Limbs, with a third coming out in early August. The vinyls featured remixes by the likes of Caribou, Four Tet and Jacques Greene.

The sitcom focuses on the story of an atheist who wakes up in Heaven, and although Gervais will not be the show’s protagonist, he will make guest appearances. Fans are very much excited by the news of Gervais’s recent activity and he is currently having much success in the US.

Gervais was also nominated for an Emmy for his hosting of the Golden Globes this year to which he responded on his website, “I’d like to win just for the speech I could do. Ha ha. Won’t happen but it’s nice to be nominated.”

Gervais does not have any forthcoming shows, but fans are hopeful he will return to the stand up arena soon.

Reid is notorious for dropping Lady Gaga from his Island/Def Jam label because he felt the singer wasn’t attractive enough. With such a colourful past, Reid is sure to be an interesting member of the X Factor USA judging panel.

Speaking about the forthcoming production to Manchester Evening News, Dr Andrew Biswell director of the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester commented, “It is a much lighter version of the story, compared to the film. The musical numbers are very brisk and light, like My Fair Lady.”

“The music is really important because it establishes a tone and a mood. It’s pretty close to West Side Story – that’s one of the obvious influences on it.”

Certainly the news of the forthcoming production does sound very exciting and it will sure to provide an interesting piece of theatre.

Barat will play Nero in the production of Pop’pea at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. The opera has been changed to put rock and pop music in replacement of opera pieces. The production of the rock opera will run from May to June next year.
