Richard Ashcroft, Gomez and Ray Davies added to Hop Farm 2012 line-up

It has been confirmed that Richard Ashcroft, Ray Davies and Gomez are to join the line-up for this year’s Hop Farm Festival.

The festival, which will be headlined by Bob Dylan, Suede and Peter Gabriel, takes place in Paddock Wood in Kent from June 29 – July 1. It is believed to be Ashcroft’s only UK appearance of the year.

Also joining the line-up are Kool And The Gang, The Futureheads, Gary Numan, Bellowhead, British Sea Power, King Charles, Howling Bells, Peter Hook and the Light, Gruff Rhys and a host of others.

The festival, which takes place between 29th June – 1st July in Kent, has also announced a new Powers Bar Stage and the first comedians confirmed for the Comedy Stage. The Buskers Boulevard will also feature a vast array of acts ranging from a banjo player to a bag piper.

Suede to make new record

Suede are famed for their powerful lyrics and anthemic guitar sound and now lead singer Brett Anderson has revealed that they will make a new record.

Anderson is currently working on his solo career and will be performing at Manchester’s Club Academy on October 11th and London’s KOKO on October 12th. However, in an interview with XFM Anderson told that, “After I’ve promoted this solo album I intend to be writing a new Suede album.”

He went on to comment, “I think it’s all about keeping yourself interested as a musician, once it gets to this stage in your career it’s very much about doing things that keep you excited and making a new Suede record will be exciting, and then making another solo record after this will be exciting.”

Suede’s Brett Anderson to release new record

Suede are one of the most important post-punk bands the country has ever produced and now the world will be hearing a new record from Suede’s frontman Brett Anderson.

Gigwise reports that Anderson said of the new record, “it’s restless, noisy and dynamic. Electric guitars, bass, drums and vocals – no flute players, no strings, no gimmicks, just passion”.

The new record will be released on September 26th and is entitled Black Rainbows. To support the new album, Brett Anderson will also be playing shows at Manchester’s Club Academy on October 11th and London’s KOKO on October 12th.

Latitude delivers despite weather

And so another year, another Latitude.

This year rain was expected to descend upon the festival and as promised mother nature delivered an obtrusive weekend of wet and windy conditions. Latitude goers did receive some welcome sunshine on the Friday, but as Saturday dawned the fields were transformed into the usual mass of mud.

However despite the conditions under foot and over head, it was another successful year for Latitude. Stand out performances came from The National, with their beautifully melancholy sound of heartbreaking music which was received very well.

Another highlight has to be that of Ed Sheeran who gave the crowds a great reason to cheer as the rain lashed down overhead, and girls screamed for the Leeds born singer-songwriter. Whilst Suede provided a great close to the festival on the Sunday night.

Thus it seemed the festival soldiered on in the rain and again succeeded in giving punters an amazing weekend of music and entertainment.

Ed Sheeran will aslo be playing at this year’s Bestival.

Latitude festival site suffers after day of rain

The Latitude Festival site felt the full force of a day of bad weather yesterday, as the ground rapidly became extremely muddy.

Festival goers had enjoyed a day full of sunshine on the Friday, but will now have to rely on wellies for the remainder of the event.

Paolo Nutini headlined the main stage yesterday evening, and was supported by the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Cribs, Seasick Steve and Rumer. Foals closed the Word Arena.

Suede will bring the festival to a close this evening, following performances throughout the day from Hurts, Glasvegas, Anna Calvi, Eels, Lykke Li and Everything Everything.

Eels get rave reviews before Latitude

Eels are down to headline the Word Arena stage on the Sunday night of Latitude festival this weekend and they have received very positive critical reviews of their shows in the build up to this prestigious festival slot.

Toby Green from the Independent gave their recent show at Somerset House 4 stars commenting, “this current Eels incarnation is most definitely a group enjoying themselves.”

Their up-beat, catchy, indie rock sound should provide Latitude goers with a memorable close to this year’s festival in Suffolk’s heartland.

Also on the Latitude bill this year are Suede, The National and Ed Sheeran.

Fanatix’s top tips for Latitude 2011

Latitude festival 2011 kicks off tomorrow (July 15th) and in honour of the occasion, the Fanatix office decided to give you are top tips for who to go and see this weekend.

Bombay Bicycle Club: To say that is band are something of a hot product at the moment is perhaps an understatement. Their new single Shuffle is undoubtably the anthem of the Summer so far and their new album sounds amazing. Hear it along with their beautiful back catalogue of indie tunes on the Friday night on the World Arena Stage.

Ed Sheeran: Ed Sheeran is playing during the early afternoon on the Saturday and it would seem a bit rude to miss out on his medley of acoustic brilliance. The nation can’t escape him at the moment, but don’t just think of him as that ginger bloke who sings the A Team, Sheeran has many hits and after his album comes out he will be more likely to headline festivals than to play lunchtime sets on the Obelisk Arena.

Suede: headlining the Obelisk Arena on the Sunday night, Suede are a band who never fail to deliver amazing performances. Their music was huge in the early nineties, capturing on themes of domestic violence and frustration with modern life and putting it into beautiful indie rock with tones of anger and emotion that made them such a powerful band. Now they are back and will provide quite a climax to the festival.

Latitude weather update: expect rain

Latitude kicks off this weekend, but it appears that rain may be on its way to the festival at Henham Park in Suffolk.

The met office have warned that there is a strong chance of rain, with a risk of heavy rain.

A spokeswoman from the met office has warned “It will also turn windy with gusty conditions making it feel cold.”

It appears that Latitude goers will receive the best of the weather on Friday where there should be sunshine. However according to the met office this sunshine will not last and will be replaced by rain on the Saturday and Sunday.

So essentially those of you going should pack wellies and prepare for fairly cold conditions over the weekend.

Headlining this year’s Latitude are Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini. Tickets are still available for the festival online.

Latitude Festival kicks off this weekend

Latitude Festival begins this weekend (Friday 15th), for three days of incredible music, comedy and film.

Headline performances come from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also set to appear over the weekend are Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Eels, Paloma Faith, My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes, Glasvegas, Lykke Li, KT Tunstall and The Vaccines.

More additions announced this week to the Film & Music Arena include The Hidden Cameras, and Future Cinema presents Old Boy: The Live Film experience featuring Guillemots. On Saturday night, festival goers will see The Faraway Forest transformed into a Narnian adventure for The Winter’s Ball.

Scala and Kolacny Brothers set to play prestigious slot at Latitude

Every year Latitude seems to shock the world of music by announcing an amazing act for midday on the Sunday of the Festival. In previous years it has been Tom Jones and Thom Yorke and this year the gauntlet has been passed onto Scala and Kolacny Brothers.

Scala and Kolacny are a Belgian female choir group. Now for those of you who haven’t heard their unique sound before this may sound a bit dull, but their adaptations of modern classics by bands such as Radiohead and Nirvana are overwhelmingly powerful pieces of music. You may have heard their cover of Creep by Radiohead which was used in the Social Network .

Their dark, mesmerizing and ethereal sound will be sure to encapsulate the Sunday lunch time crowd and is just another reason to get excited for this year’s Latitude which is now only days away. Also playing this year are Bright Eyes, Suede and the National.

Dylan Moran added to Latitude Festival line-up

Irish comedian Dylan Moran has joined the comedy line-up at Latitude Festival this year.

Moran, who became a mainstream success in the sitcom Black Books alongside Bill Bailey, has also appeared in films such as Shaun Of The Dead and Run, Fatboy, Run. His appearance at the Suffolk event will take place as part of his current UK tour.

Latitude Festival will take place at Henham Park from the 15th to 17th July, and will again boast a line-up full of intriguing music, comedy and literature acts.

The National will headline the festival on the Friday evening, Paolo Nutini will top the bill on Saturday and Suede will close the festival on the Sunday night. Other acts also confirmed to appear include Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas, Hurts, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Eels, The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li.

UK summer festival guide – V Festival, Reading and Leeds, Bestival and more

Although Glastonbury has now ended, there are still plenty of high quality festivals featuring some incredible line ups still to come.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. The NME/Radio 1 Stage has headline sets from 2manydjs, Beady Eye and Jane’s Addiction, with The Streets, Death From Above 1979, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, Crystal Castles and Bombay Bicycle Club adding to the excellent line-up.

Reading festival tickets are currently on sale from as little as £135, while Leeds Festival tickets can be bought for £150.

Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

The Horrors’ Cat’s Eyes debut at Latitude Festival

The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan makes his festival debut with his new band Cat’s Eyes at Latitude Festival.

Cat’s Eyes is the creation of Faris Badwan from The Horrors and Canadian opera singer Rachel Zeffira. The duo released their debut album in April and will play their first festival at Latitude in July.

Cat’s Eyes are new additions along with James Blake and Alabama 3. They join headliners Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini.

Glasvegas confirmed for Latitude following album release

Glasvegas have been confirmed to perform at this year’s Latitude festival, following the release of their new album this week. The follow-up to their successful self-titled debut, EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\, hit UK shelves on Monday, and is the band’s second studio album.

The band will be joined at the festival by the likes of Seasick Steve, Iron and Wine and Dog Is Dead. The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede have been confirmed to headline the event at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk from the 14th to 17th July.

The Cribs are the latest acts to be added to the bill for this year’s Latitude Festival, along with Echo and the Bunnymen.

The event will take place from July 14th to 17th at Henham Park Estate in Southwold.

Latitude Festival adds more acts to line-up

Eels and Bombay Bicycle Club have been added to the line-up for this year’s Latitude festival in Suffolk.

The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede will headline the festival which will also include Foals, Bright Eyes, comedian Dave Gorman and a Q&A with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

The sixth edition of the festival will once again take place at Henham Park, near Southwold from July 14-17, and will feature a mix of music and arts performers.

A fourth headline act, who has not been confirmed, will perform on the main stage at midday on the final day of the festival. Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has previously performed in the slot, with revellers leaving their tent earlier that usual to catch his acoustic set of Radiohead and solo numbers.

Suede working on new material

Suede are working on new material, according to frontman Brett Anderson in an interview with Rolling Stone Indonesia. The singer explained that any material written may not however be released.

“I wouldn’t want to make another record that I look back on and regretted again. Whether anyone else hears what we’ve been writing recently hasn’t been set in stone. Unless it turns out to be outstanding, then no-one will ever hear it.”

Whether they decide to continue past these dates depends on the quality of the songs they’re currently recording.

The cautious front man said “It depends on what happens with writing. I don’t know how long you can go on tour with playing songs from the past.”

The band are headlining Latitude Festival this summer, as well as playing a trio of nights at London’s Brixton Academy in May.

The majority of the line-up for this year’s Latitude Festival has been confirmed, with The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede confirmed as headliners.

The festival will take place from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th July at Henham Park in Southwold.

Million Dollar Quartet presents the ultimate jam session

It was December 4th 1956 when Elvis Presley just happened to drop in at Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, and meet relative unknowns Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

It is remarkable how this event continues to stay under the radar, but ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ hopes to show what could have been when these four men met to make music and conversation.

At this time, Elvis had left Sun and was a star on his own. Cash was deciding whether to go for pop or gospel. Perkins was mostly annoyed at Elvis for making a hit out of his song, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. And Jerry Lee Lewis had not yet scored his own hit with ‘Great Balls of Fire’.

The production does not really seek to explore these individual stories, however it does not simply show the acts trotting out their big hits either. Of course, some liberties are taken as many of the songs were not written at the time. There is plenty of conversation between the charcters however, which make this an interesting, enjoyable musical with one of the best soundtracks possible.

The Suede support act has been confirmed for the band’s upcoming Brixton Academy album shows. Chapel Club will open on all three nights, set to take place at the London venue on the 19th, 20th and 21st May.

Suede will perform three classic album’s in full at the shows, following a huge headline gig at London’s O2 Arena in December 2010.

Suede have confirmed three special shows at London’s Brixton Academy, where they will perform three of their legendary albums in full. The band will perform on the 19th, 20th and 21st May, playing Suede, Dog Man Star and Coming Up.

The band enjoyed a successful 2010 after reforming, playing their first gigs in over seven years, including a huge show at London’s O2 Arena in December.

Tickets are still available for the upcoming Teenage Cancer Trust shows featuring Noel Gallagher at the Royal Albert Hall. The shows will be the first time Gallagher has performed since the split of his former band, Oasis, last year. The support acts have been announced for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust series. Them Crooked Vultures, who are set to kick off the charity series, will be joined by Little Fish; Suede will be supported by These New Puritans; and Arctic Monkeys will be joined by the Mystery Jets.

Plan B to support Noel Gallagher at TCT

Plan B and The Courteeners will support Noel Gallagher at this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust, it has been announced. The shows, set to take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall later this month, are Noel Gallagher’s first since he split from Oasis last summer. The Courteeners will support the former Oasis star on March 25, with Plan B set to join Gallagher on March 26.

Noel Gallagher is just one of the top acts lined up for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust series, which takes place from March 22-30 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The Specials reveal UK plan

The Specials have revealed that their upcoming Teenage Cancer Trust show is likely to be their only UK gig this year. Speaking at the NME Awards, drummer John Bradbury said that the show, set to kick off at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 29, would be the last chance for their UK fans to catch them play. ‘We’re able to combine the wonderful award with a wonderful cause,’ he said. ‘It’s probably the only gig we’ll do in the UK this year, as far as we know.’

The Specials join a fasntastic line-up for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust series, featuring the likes of The Who, JLS and the Arctic Monkeys. The Who’s Roger Daltrey eyes Jimmy Page collaboration

The Who’s Roger Daltrey says he would like to record an album with legendary Led Zep member Jimmy Page. The 65-year old singer says he would love the idea of forming a supergroup, especially one that would give him the chance to sing the blues. Daltrey told BBC6 Music: ‘I’d love to do something, I’d love to do an album with Jimmy Page. He needs a singer to drive him. I’m a great blues singer.’

Daltrey is currently busy with preparations for the Teenage Cancer Trust series, which he curated. Following Depeche Mode’s stunning performance at the Royal Albert Hall last week, the Teenage Cancer Trust series is still set for a number of top dates. The full schedule is listed below:

Suede to play limited tour of small venues

The Brit Pop band Suede have booked two warm-up gigs for their Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall, playing at London 100 Club on March 20th, and Manchester Ritz the following evening. The opportunity to see a band of this stature in an intimate venue does not come along very often and will be available through auction, with proceeds going to the charity. However, a limited number of tickets will go on general sale for the Manchester gig, while tickets for the Royal Albert Hall concert are still available.

JLS and Arctic Monkeys join charity gig line-up

JLS, Them Crooked Vultures and the Arctic Monkeys are among the artists lined up for the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs at London’s Royal Albert Hall this February and March.

The charity series was dreamt up by The Who’s frontman Roger Daltry and had already seen acts such as Suede and Depeche Mode join the line-up.

Suede set to reform in 2010

Suede have recently confirmed that they will reform for a one-off show in the capital later this year.

The Britpop stars have announced that they are going to perform live at the Royal Albert Hall as part of a series of charity concerts this year. The exact date of the concert has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed that it will take place in March. The Suede show will be part of the 2010 Teenage Cancer Trust series of concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
