I’m really happy and it’s lovely to be 40, I’d recommend it to anyone.

“Music is a young person’s industry but you want a few of the older bands like us around. We don’t have a plan for how long it is going to last.”

However, Barlow’s bandmate Howard Donald, 43, confessed that getting old is a “sensitive” issue for himself.

“I am very sensitive about my age. Gary will make jokes that I’m 46 or 47 and it really p*sses me off,” he said. “I feel like I’m still fit enough to go on, I don’t feel my age.”

A more optimistic Mark Owen, 39, added: “I’m pleased we have got this far through our lives – almost halfway hopefully, that’s quite an achievement.”

The Progress stars kick off their new tour in Sunderland on May 27.

<a

Cesc Fabregas has been rated as 90% fit, while Robin Van Persie has also been named in the squad, subject to fitness test later today.

After the bitter disappointment of losing the Carling Cup Final to Birmingham, and being held by Sunderland at the weekend, Arsenal have looked shaky and will require their big players to steady the ship.

Barcelona warmed up for the game by beating Zaragoza 1-0, with many of their influential players on the bench.

Premier League and Champions League <a

The singer surprised fans by singing a new introduction during a televised appearance at the Sanremo Fesitval in Italy.

Instead of singing the opening line “Standing on the edge of forever, at the start of whatever, shouting love at the world,” Williams decided to sing “Standing on the feet of our Trevor, but our Trevor was clever, shouting love at the world.”

It is not yet known whether other Take That members were in on the act.

Such pranks will not be expected by UK Take That fans when the band embark on their eagerly anticipated summer stadium tour this year. The band are confirmed to perform a total of 29 outdoor shows in the UK and Ireland throughout May, June and July.

<a

I would use other people’s emotions. I’d listen to conversations and talk to friends and always stole my lyrics from people around me. I very seldom looked inside myself to write. That’s something I’ve acquired this time round.”

Take That will tour their latest album, Progress, in May, June and July 2011, performing a taotal of 29 UK and Ireland stadium shows. Tickets are available for all of the following <a
