The singer was due to take to the stage for the second of four nights at the venue, after a successful show yesterday evening.

A doctor is said to have visited the performer this afternoon, and advised that he cannot perform tonight to allow him time to recover before his next concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 28th October.

The former Wham star will now reschedule the show, with all original tickets to remain valid.

The last Tom Waits tour took place in 2008, in support of the release of his previous album, Glitter and Doom. The singer’s new release is his first composed of entirely new music since 2004, adding fuel to the rumours that a live shows, including UK and Ireland tour dates, may be on the horizon.

In an interview with Gigwise the band’s drummer Sam Foragarino stated, “We need a big break. Interpol needs it. We need to recoup and go on a proper hiatus,” he said. “Who knows what is ahead for the band, I think we’re all just looking forward to relaxing for a while and catching up with our own things.”

Earlier this year the band released their self-titled album which was met with a warm critical reception. Fans remain hopeful that Interpol will tour again soon.

The awards took place in Hollywood on Saturday night. The smash hit rapper was awarded the BMI Icon status for his contributions to the genre. Death Row Records founder Dr Dre gave the award, and Snoop Dogg thanked him and fellow Death Row Records head Marion “Suge” Knight Jr. Accepting the award, he said: “We built Death Row, we built a sound and you can’t take that away. And I’m thankful to both of them because wasn’t nobody from Long Beach rapping then. But I can do 20 more years of this. It ain’t over yet.”

The rapper is to embark on a four-date UK tour this October.

The rare, one-off performance by the influential Texas rock band takes place at the intimate The Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen. They have said that they will use gigs this year to showcase material written for their new album, expected to be released late this year or in early 2012. The show will offer UK fans a rare opportunity to see the band in such a small setting.

His viewpoint emerged after scores of X Factor applicants had performed Adele’s tracks as their audition pieces. He told BBC Radio 1: “She came to the [Take That] Wembley shows and I said to her, ‘I’ve got to be honest, I’m really sick of your album because it’s all that’s been played at X Factor.’ This year has been Adele. We’re sick of Adele.” Despite the harsh words, he said that she “completely understood” what he meant by the words.

The tragedy at Pukkelpop festival resulted in a number of stages collapsing in very strong winds and torrential rain, leaving five dead and hundreds injured. In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Benn said of Pukkelpop: “If we had something similar I know what actions I would take in order to make sure people were safe. I have to table top exercises with the emergency services about the actions I would take in the event of all of those things. Believe me, there is no scenario of an eventuality that I have not looked at, including freak storms. I know how I would deal with it to ensure peoples’ safety. The level of effort over safety is immense. It’s the thing which keeps me awake at night.”

Lead singer Alex Turner told The Sun, “I don’t really write on the road any more. We come up with a few ideas on soundchecks and that but I have written too many terrible lyrics touring around. As yet there is no plan to return to the studio next year, we’re keeping our heads down.”

He went on to add, “It’s hard to do the old chip shop rock’n'roll. After you’ve done it once, you don’t sort of hang around that many chippies any more. I think it’s natural, I couldn’t ever write about my surroundings in the same way as I did back then.”

So it appears as though Arctic Monkeys will not return to the studio until at least 2013. They will however be heading out on an extensive tour of the UK this Autumn.

The celebration of Michael Jackson’s life is due to take place on October 8th at Cardiff’s Millennium stadium and features such amazing artists as Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis and JLS. There have been concerns raised to the organisers that the event is taking place at the same time at an inquest into Michael Jackson’s death, but the show is due to go ahead as planned.

The tour dates are set for late September, and precede the release of his debut album, which comes out on October 17th. The shows will take place in Orkney, Shetland and Inverness. He is expected to embark on a full UK tour to promote the album, so these gigs could be warm-up shows in preparation for that.
