The singer confessed the Justin Vernon-fronted band’s album Bon Iver was “so, so special” to her and urged her fans to listen to it. After spending so much time touring with England before the World Cup, Anderson seemed to suffer from fatigue more than most. But he has accepted that this was not the only reason.

“It was a different ball game than the Ashes,” Anderson told M.E.N. Sport.

“In Australia, the red ball was swinging but in India the pitches were flat and the white ball wasn’t doing as much. I found it tough and in a competition like the World Cup if you are not on top of your game you get found out, and I got punished.

“I couldn’t argue when I was left out. I hadn’t done anything to keep my place, I wasn’t bowling well.

“I’ve been working hard in honour of your ears. I made you a sound baby. The Scarlet Tulip EP was lovingly recorded in our solar-powered studio in the woods by his royal hotness Luke Bullen – boy done good!”

A digital version of the album which includes seven new songs, was released on April 11 and a CD and vinyl version will follow on May 1.

Minogue has already taken the tour across Europe, performing in Germany, France and Spain. Following her shows in London next week, the singer will take the tour to Japan, Canada and the United States, finishing up in her Australian homeland in June.

The star has previously revealed that her show will contain a “splash zone”, which she describes as “highly technical”.

Directed by their friend from University Mat Whitecross, ‘Ashes‘ is set to star Sexy Beast lead Winstone in what has been described as a ‘noir thriller’. Whitecross has directed many of Coldplay’s videos as well as Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.

Paul Viragh, who wrote the Ian Dury biopic, will also serve as scriptwriter for ‘Ashes’. Chris Martin and fellow bandmates Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion will all act as executive producers for the project. No release date has been confirmed yet.

Coldplay will headline several festivals this summer, including Glastonbury, Oxegen and T in the Park. They are also currently working on their fifth album with Brian Eno, expected in the Autumn.

The hectic Christmas schedule often throws up some fascinating local clashes and this year is no exception.

On Monday 28th December, Fulham travel across SW6 to Stamford Bridge for the west London derby against Chelsea who have suffered a minor wobble of late.

It seems Lungs by Florence and the Machine is one of the bookmakers’ favourites to take home the accolade. Speech Debelle has also described her album as being different to what is always heard on the radio and is confident of winning the top prize, despite saying she does not have a speech prepared.

Also in the running for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize is Kasabian with the album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno claims that the band might donate the money to charity if they win the award, unless the money gets given to the barman, that is.

Many of this year’s front runners to lift the Barclaycard Mercury Prize crown are also on tour playing at many venues across the UK.

Florence and the Machine, already performing shows throughout September, has just announced details of new tour dates for the UK and Ireland scheduled for December 2009. The new Florence and the Machine tour dates include the Glasgow O2 Academy on December 9 as well as the Manchester Apollo (December 10), Lincoln Engine Shed (December 11) and the London Brixton Academy (December 13).
