Today Black Keys fans received some very exciting news that their new album is complete and is set for release later on this year.

On this new record, which will be their 7th studio album, they have worked with mega producer Danger Mouse.

Dan Auerbach (frontman) told Spin.com that the new album will see the band take a different direction.

“The new album doesn’t sound like ‘Brothers’. It doesn’t have that open soul feel to it. It’s way more driving and the tempos are really fast.”

It was once again another triumphant weekend at this year’s Oxegen Festival in Punchestown Ireland.

This year’s headliners were The Black Eyed Peas, The Foo Fighters and Coldplay. It seems that all the headliners this year delivered suitable sets of gigantic performances to the delight of the Irish crowd. The Festival itself was ended in true Irish fashion with a great Oxegen moment, as Christy Moore came on stage with Coldplay to perform Ride On which evoked a mammoth singalong from the masses.

The acts on display this year represented a much more equal balance between pop and rock, featuring the likes of Ke$ha, The Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce mixed with the usual suspects of The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys and The Foo Fighters. The balance however seemed to go down very well, catering for everyone’s musical tastes and providing great music all round.

The Strokes, who many argue are the band that single-handedly saved indie, performed a classic set on the Friday of Oxegen and are also down to headline this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Friday night (July 8th) will see headliners Black Eyed Peas take to the main stage, supported by The Script and My Chemical Romance. The Strokes and Swedish House Mafia headline the Vodafone stage, with Leftfield and Calvin Harris topping the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Saturday (June 8th) has headliners Foo Fighters supported by Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye. Paolo Nutini and deadmau5 are top of the bill on the Vodafone stage while Brandon Flowers headlines the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Closing the festival on Sunday night will be Coldplay, supported by Beyonce and Slash. On the vodafone stage, The National and Pendulum head the line-up, while Primal Scream and Chase & Status top the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

A host of other world-class bands, as well as an incredible, unique atmosphere have made the festival a favourite on the festival circuit.

Biffy Clyro will be hitting the road from April with a seven-date UK tour. Biffy Clyro kick things off at Perth Concert Hall on April 29. Biffy Clyro will also perform live at Sheffiled O2 Academy and Portsmouth Guidhall, before drawing their tour to a close on May 6 at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo. The hotly anticipated third album from the Arctic Monkeys finally has a confirmed title of Humbug.

Writing songs for the new album began towards the end of Summer in 2008 and lead singer Alex Turner revealed that inspiration was taken from the band’s visit to the Latitude Festival.

Alex Turner also said that the songs on the new album were “full on” in line with the sound of Black Sabbath, but that the band also listened to Jimi Hendrix and Cream during the writing process.

When asked if the album’s different sound signified the Arctic Monkeys going towards a new musical direction, band member Matt Helders claimed that this was not necessarily the case.

Matt Helders said that the recording was just what was going on at the time and that the next album after this one could also feature a different sound.

Humbug was recorded in the USA and produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, and James Ford who also worked on the Arctic Monkeys’ last album titled Favourite Worst Nightmare.

The follow up to the 2007 release of Favourite Worst Nightmare, Humbug is due for release on August 24 before the Arctic Monkeys are set to perform at the Reading & Leeds Festival on August 28-29, taking place at Reading Richfield Avenue and Leeds Braham Park.

It has recently been confirmed that Universal Music are set to release the official recording of the hugely popular Nirvana performance from the 1992 Reading Festival.

A bootleg copy of performance was previously circulated online and proved to be so popular that Universal Music and the remaining members of Nirvana agreed to release the footage officially.

An unofficial video of the show, ‘Life Takes No Prisoners, will be released on May 4. The official DVD is due to be released in November.

The 2009 Reading Festival line up includes a number of huge acts. Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Prodigy and Kaiser Chiefs are all on the bill. Reading Festival sold out within hours of going on sale, but tickets are still available to compare at Tixdaq.

A number of this year’s Reading Festival headliners are on tour in the UK in 2009. Kings of Leon visit London and Manchester in June. Kings of Leon are set to play three massive shows at the London O2 Arena (15, 16 & 30 June) and two shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (22 & 23 June). Bloc Party are also on tour in 2009.  The Bloc Party tour kicks off at Blackpool Winter Gardens on October 2 and also features performances at the O2 Academy in Sheffield, Leeds and Birmingham.
