The disco-rock band will play the festival on the Friday, September 9th. They join a line up that includes headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Bjork, and also features The Maccabees, PJ Harvey, The Drums, Primal Scream, Public Enemy, Crystal Castles and DJ Shadow. The festival takes place from Friday September 9th to Sunday September 11th, and is situated in Robin Hill park on the Isle of Wight.

The legendary rap group will play in five cities across the country, and will perform their 1990 album, Fear Of A Black Planet, in its entirety. The group rarely tour the UK, so this offers a rare opportunity to see them. Indeed, it has been said these could be the last UK shows Public Enemy ever perform.

The Icelandic singer is set to play the headline slot on the Sunday night (September 11th) of the weekend. She joins headliners Pendulum (Friday 9th) and The Cure (Saturday 10th).

Bestival’s official blog reveals that her headline set will include “an award-winning Icelandic choir and will feature a range of specially conceived and crafted instruments, among them a bespoke pipe organ that accepts digital information, making it a sure fire guarantee that Bestivalites are in for a proper treat when it comes to this year’s closing set on the main stage.”

Also appearing over the weekend are PJ Harvey, Primal Scream, The Drums, Public Enemy, Crystal Castles, The Maccabees and DJ shadow, as well as a host of other incredible bands.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. The NME/Radio 1 Stage has headline sets from 2manydjs, Beady Eye and Jane’s Addiction, with The Streets, Death From Above 1979, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, Crystal Castles and Bombay Bicycle Club adding to the excellent line-up.

Reading festival tickets are currently on sale from as little as £135, while Leeds Festival tickets can be bought for £150.

Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. The band perform their 1990 LP in full at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town on September the 8th, as the latest gig presented by All Tomorrow’s Parties/Don’t Look Back. The album was conceived during the so called ‘golden age of hip hop’, preceding the legal limits and clearance costs later placed on sampling.

Public Enemy toured their 1988 release It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back across the world as part of the Don’t Look Back series in 2008.

Their last studio release was 2007′s fan-funded How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul???

Public Enemy will also perform at this year’s Bestival. Other acts include Pendulum, PJ Harvey and The Cure.

More than seven hours of Bestival will be broadcast in September with performances from Pendulum, The Cure, Primal Scream and Public Enemy.

Organiser and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank said: “Bestival in 3D will be a mind-blowing explosion of colour and multidimensional music and mayhem. Having Camp Bestival too… means we’ve got a great summer of TV ahead.”

Two hours of action will be shown in 3D on each day of the festival, which takes place between 8-11 September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight.

Other acts confirmed for Bestival include Robyn, Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Katy B, DJ Shadow and Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys.

There will also be a 90-minute special after the festival finishes showing the main highlights. Bestival was voted best festival at the UK festival awards in 2010.

It’s also been announced the Isle of Wight festival will be shown in 3D on Sky. The festival in Seaclose Park in Newport, from 10 to 12 June is headlined by Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian.

Pendulum, James Blake and PJ Harvey will play the festival, curated by Rob Da Bank. Taking place from the 8th to the 11th of September, previous headliners at the Bestival include Massive Attack and The Flaming Lips.

The festival will also include DJ sets from Fatboy Slim and Radio 1′s Zane Lowe.

England will be looking to continue their impressive run so far. Victories against Wales, Italy and France means a win against the Auld Enemy would leave England needing to defeat Ireland in their final game to achieve the Grand Slam, their first since 2003.

Scotland travel to Twickenham looking for a first away win over England in 28 years. The signs are not good for Andy Robinson’s men following two home defeats. Their final game with Italy may well end up being a straight fight to avoid the wooden spoon.

Like their previous season in the Championship when their away record was the best in the division, it is Wolves’ form in enemy territory which has been most impressive. Their record on their travels is identical in terms of results to Liverpool’s, and it is ahead of many sides above them in the table, such as Everton, Fulham, Stoke, Blackburn and Sunderland. Mick McCarthy has built his side with firm foundations with Marcus Hahnemann a huge presence in goal, Jody Craddock and Christoph Berra offering discipline to the defence, and Kevin Doyle chasing down lost causes up front. Both Craddock and Doyle have chipped in with their fair share of goals too, which has confounded pundits who thought they were mere Championship level.

The one place Wolves can make a vast improvement is in attack, as they have scored the least goals in the division. Before last night’s game, the Premier League’s leading marksman Wayne Rooney had scored more goals than the entire Wolverhampton Wanderers squad, and their current average of less than a goal a game means they are over-reliant on shutting out opposition rather than putting them under pressure – as their two smash-and-grab 1-0 victories over Tottenham demonstrate.

England will arrive in South Africa for the FIFA World Cup next summer with the expectation of a nation on their shoulders.

Hopes are always ludicrously high whenever England go to a major tournament but with a born winner like Fabio Capello at the helm and a near flawless record in qualifying, the clamour for ultimate glory will reach fever pitch.

A draw that has to be seen as favourable if not exactly straightforward – contrary to what the tabloids would have you believe – sees England play the USA in Rustenburg on June 12th in what looks to be the heavyweight clash in Group C. That match should determine who tops the group but Capello’s men should remember the anti-climax that was Germany 2006 and the unmitigated disaster that was their absence from Euro 2008 before assuming their place in the second round is guaranteed, let alone the final.

England are the clear favourites to lead the way but don’t forget that the USA actually went further than them in 2002 when they reached the last four. They did however end up bottom of a tough group in 2006, something they will not want to repeat.

Algeria will be more difficult than many observers give them credit for. Having successfully negotiated a playoff against arch-rivals Egypt to get to South Africa they will be desperate to give a good account of themselves when they make their first appearance in the World Cup since 1986. They will not lack for raw talent though it could be their discipline and organisation that lets them down.

Slovenia are the real dark horses in this group. For all the talk of England and USA, it must be noted that it was the tiny former Yugoslav republic that disposed of a Russia team managed by the imperious Guus Hiddink in a two-legged playoff. They will be taking part in their second World Cup and they will be aiming to improve  markedly on their performance in 2002 when they failed to gain a single point.

Prediction: England to qualify with maximum points and the USA to pip Slovenia to second place.

Coventry band, The Enemy, have recently confirmed that they are set to embark on a massive fourteen night UK tour this November.

The Enemy tour kicks off on November 7 at 53 Degress in Preston. The Enemy are also set to perform live at Edinburgh Corn Exchange (November 10), Sheffield O2 Academy (November 12), Newcastle O2 Academy (November 15), London HMV Forum (November 19) and Birmingham O2 Academy (November 26).The Enemy also return to their home town of Coventry on November 27 where they will play at The Assembly in nearby Leamington.

Orange RockCorps organised a one-off show at the Manchester Apollo on July 13 as a way of saying thank you to the 3,000 volunteers who gave up four hours to work on community projects across Manchester.

Tom Clarke, lead singer of The Enemy, spoke of the band’s support for Orange RockCorps and the unique event, praising how the charity teaches young people the act of earning their rewards in life.

The Enemy mainly sang songs from their debut album We’ll Live And Die In These Towns, including the singles Had Enough, Away From Here and You’re Not Alone, dedicating the latter to Lady GaGa herself.

She followed The Enemy on stage, performing current single Paparazzi as well as Just Dance from the album The Fame.

Lady GaGa also spoke of her support for Orange RockCorps, saying that she got involved with the show because she wanted to help make the volunteers in the audience feel like stars, just as she dreamt of stardom herself when she was younger.

Fans of The Enemy and Lady GaGa can still catch them in action before the end of the year. They will both be at V Festival at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park (August 22-23).

The Enemy will be touring the UK in November, playing venues like the Edinburgh Corn Exchange (November 10), Sheffield O2 Academy (November 12) and the London HMV Forum (November 19) before drawing the tour to a close at the Manchester Apollo (November 29).

It has recently been announced that dance DJ Calvin Harris will perform live the last of the Somerset House Summer Series shows, held at the London Somerset House.

The Calvin Harris gig will take place on July 20 after a host of other acts have already graced the stage with their own headline gig at the London Somerset House over the course of July this year.

Camden Crawl returns this weekend to kick off the UK music festival season.

The indie music festival which will be take place this Friday and Saturday (April 24 and 25), has expanded each year since its inception in 2006 to become a distinct highlight on the London music calender.

Friday nights headliners Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be performing in Camden as part of their tour supporting new album It’s Blitz! also headling this weekend will be The Enemy, Kasabian and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Just behind the lustre of the headliners, plenty of breaking acts will have their chance to win over a festival crowd for the first time. Frankmusik (Saturday only); BBC Sound Of 2009 winner Little Boots (Saturday only); Sheffield-via-Jamaica dancehall masher Toddla-T (Saturday only); DJ crossovers Filthy Dukes (Friday only) and Jools Holland favourite VV Brown will all be hoping to open their Camden Crawl accounts with a bang.

It has been announced that Hollywood star Rachel Weisz will be taking to the West End stage this summer in a revival of the Tennessee Williams’ play a Streetcar Named Desire.

The four month stint will mark a third appearance at the Donmar theatre for the award winning actress who has been cast in the role of Blanche Dubois.

Rachel Weisz has previously won a best supporting actress Oscar for The Constant Gardner in 2006 and has also held starring roles in The Mummy, About a Boy and Enemy at the Gates

A Streetcar Named Desire will take to the stage from 23 July – 3 October as part of the new season at the Donmar Theatre.

Radio 1 has confirmed that Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian, Calvin Harris and Franz Ferdinand are to headline this years Radio 1 Big Weekend due to take place in Swindon’s Lydiard Park on the weekend of 9 and 10 May.

Radio 1′s big weekend is the UK’s biggest free ticketed music festival and drawing over 500,000 applications for tickets in 2008.

Also joining the bill will be White Lies, The Enemy, The Wombats, Basement Jaxx, Friendly Fires, Alesha Dixon, Ne-Yo, Akon, Ladyhawke, King Blues, Florence And The Machine, Jack Penate, The Saturdays and Gossip. They join N-Dubz and Snow Patrol who were announced for the two day event last month.

Bono has spoken out against the growth of online music piracy calling on overpaid rockstars to step up and fight for the little man.

The Irish star said he believed it was time someone stopped the “madness” that was affecting the development of new and future artists.

Bono’s latest rant was not directed at the usual enemy of illegal downloader’s,  ISP’s or east African clay pigeon shooters but towards international rock and roll stars just like himself, commenting  “it’s not the place for rich rock stars to ask for more money”.

Speaking to USA Today, Bono said: “People think people like me are overpaid and overnourished, and they’re not wrong. “What they’re missing is, how does a songwriter get paid? There’s no space for a Cole Porter in the modern age.

‘It’s not the place for rich rock stars to ask for more money, but somebody should fight for fellow artists, because this is madness. Music has become tap water, a utility, where for me it’s a sacred thing, so I’m a little offended.’

Fans are believed to have downloaded U2′s latest release ‘No Line On The Horizon’ at least 445,000 times before it was officially released last month. Despite leaking online, ‘No Line On the Horizon’ is currently at number one on both the UK and US charts.

Elbow willplay tonight at Sheffield Academy (March 3), continuing their tour onto Newcastle Academy (March 5), Edinburgh Corn Exchange (March 6) Blackpool Empress Ballroom (March 7), Llandudno Arena (March 9), Bristol Colston Hall (March 10), Plymouth Pavilions (March, 11) Newport Centre (March, 12) and finally the elbow tour will close at London Wembley Arena (March 14).
