The festival has already announced headline acts like; Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller, but had kept back a few suprises for closer the time. New acts across a variety of stages were yesterday released, with some highlights being; Catherine AD, Slow Club, King Charles, Smoke Fairies and Of Monsters And Men.

At The Lake Stage, BBC Radio 1 DJ and champion of new music, Huw Stephens has been asked to curate his own line-up. Headline slots go to sonically challenging, electro-indie group Clock Opera, while other acts include:

Sadler’s Wells will present an excerpt from the hugely popular Sadler’s Wells Production, The Most Incredible Thing on The Waterfront Stage. A collaboration between pop legends Pet Shop Boys and choreographer/director Javier De Frutos, The Most Incredible Thing, won the Evening Standard’s inaugural Beyond Theatre Award after its premiere in 2011, and recently enjoyed a return run at the theatre this spring.

On the Film and Music Arena Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and co-director Nick Abraham present their new film The Bruce Lacey Experience. Three years in the making, the film examines Lacey’s remarkable legacy as an all-round cultural chameleon. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jeremy Deller. The Royal Albert Hall arrives at Latitude presenting the innovative violinist Hahn-Bin. One of the world’s most exciting and original classical musicians, Hahn-Bin is not only a prodigious talent but a style visionary who recently graced the cover of fashion bible i-D Magazine. Hahn-Bin recently launched The Renaissance of Classical Music, a project which aims to bring the style into mainstream culture.

In the Comedy Arena, Jack Dee, Brian Cox, Tim Minchin and others will be joined by Phill Jupitus, as well as multi award-winning, fringe sell-out, mind reader who can’t read minds, Chris Cox and revered Canadian stand-up Tony Law will be regaling audiences with his time travelling exploits in the company of his infamous sausage dog.

With the fall in the number of traditional summer festivals in the UK this year, Latitude is surely one of the hottest tickets in town for those who want to while the days away baking in a sweaty tent and drinking warm cider.

Adele told the audience: “This is the last time you’ll catch me at a venue like this. These will be my last theatre dates as I’m moving on to arenas. I’ll be at the O2 in February.”

After being booed by the crowd, the singer added: “Too many people want to see my shows, I have to. Don’t worry, I’ll still get into the crowd and everything.”

Details of Coldplay tour dates are expected to be announced shortly, with the band rumoured to have lined up shows in early 2012.

David Guetta currently sits second in the UK chart, followed by Will Young’s latest album, Echoes. UK singer Adele has slipped down to number four in the chart with her album, 21, which has not fallen out of the Top Five since its release 32 weeks ago.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to tour the UK later this year, after confirming a series of arena shows last month. The jaunt will include three night’s at London’s O2 Arena, as well as concerts in Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham. Enough Thunder will feature his collaboration with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon on the track Fall Creek Boys Choir. It will also feature a cover of Joni Mitchell’s song A Case of You as well as other songs written by Blake himself.

The EP will be out before James Blake heads out on his tour of the UK this Autumn which will see him play such venues as Bristol’s Anson Rooms and London’s HMV Forum.

Fox news reported that Lil Wayne was rushed to hospital in St. Louis after falling off his skateboard and had 9 stitches above his eye. He tweeted, “Busted my fuggin head at the skate park! 9 stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye!”

The incident came during his current US tour. Lil Wayne will also be releasing his new record, Tha Carter IV on August 28th.

Speaking to the NME he commented, “We played at about half past two but were in our bus when it happened about five or six. The weather got mad, I’ve never seen anything like it, it was almost apocalyptic. It was pitch black like night but was only 5 o’clock.”

“He went on to add, The freakiest part was that it went dead silent and for a festival that isn’t something that usually happens. Then people were just running away. A tree had fallen in the backstage area and a branch had gone straight through one of the tents, it was madness.”

In a message on Twitter, acclaimed electronic artist and singer Blake posted: “24th August 2011 – James Blake & Bon Iver ‘Fall Creek Boys Choir’”. It is thought that Fall Creek Boys Choir could be the name of the project the two collaborate on, with the words Fall Creek coming from the name of the town where Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon owns a recording studio. Currently it is unknown whether the project will be a one-off track, album or more of a long-term venture, but more information is expected to be released on August 24th.

Bon Iver are set to play rare shows in the UK this October, with shows in London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.

Jay Z however has dismissed these reports and commented on radio station Hot 97 FM,

The band’s drummer Matt Sorum told the Brazilian website Lokaos.net that they had invited Taylor to join their recording sessions. However he also added, “We liked it. We had ten songs. We could put the album out tomorrow. It’s done. I said, ‘Let’s go.’ But Slash wasn’t feeling it. If we’re not all feeling it together, we can’t do it.”

According to RadarOnline.com, documents were today released in court which claimed “Defendant Spears was mentally unstable, and personally obnoxious and demanding, requiring her staff on various occasions and for no rationally discernable reasons to address her as Jennifer or Queen Bee.”

The allegations fall into the very colourful past Britney had, but now she is apparently back on the straight and narrow. However this Los Angeles court suit filed against her shows that she is still being forced to pay for her previous actions.

The band were due to perform the second of two shows at Parken stadium, but were forced to let down thousands of fans after Williams was told by doctors that he was not fit to perform.

A band statement revealed, “We are truly devastated to have had to cancel tonight’s show in Denmark,

“This is the first show that we have ever had to cancel in our career as a band. It was a horrible decision to make and one we agonized over.

“The five of us then had a decision to make: Should we go on with the show without Rob or should we cancel altogether? What would be fairer to our fans? What would people want? It was a very, very difficult decision. In the end we felt that as this tour is about the five of us being back together, and about celebrating that reunion, it would be wrong to go ahead with the show.”

The band’s record breaking Progress Tour has wowed fans across Europe since May this year, and with only four shows remaining this month, it is unknown whether the Copenhagen show will be re-arranged.

It appears as though the band’s third album, Skying, is currently at number 3 in the BBC midweek chart. For a  band who have embraced the alternative with such aplomb, their achievement in the mid week chart is testament to the substance that lies behind the dark facade of the Southend band.

The success comes following their release of the album as a free stream to fans, a week before the album was physically available for sale. They have thus perhaps jumped onto the free internet release bandwagon which does not seem to deter album sales in many cases.

Currently holding the number 2 spot in the UK charts is Beyonce’s 4, and they both fall behind Adele’s 21, which seems unmovable at the pole position at present.

Charles Spencer from the Telegraph described Spacey as giving “an electrifying performance which brilliantly identifies the two forces that drive the “poisonous, bunch-backed toad” — heartless ambition and a profound self-loathing.”

Yesterday, the band posted Major Minus, while today saw Moving to Mars unveiled on the internet. Both songs are to be released on the Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall EP. The EP is to be released on June 26th, the day after their headline slot on Glastonbury’s The Pyramid Stage. The EP will be released on vinyl on June 27th. As of yet, it is unknown whether either of these songs will appear on the bands’ forthcoming fifth album. For the last eighteen months, the band have been working with esteemed producer Brain Eno on the follow-up to critically acclaimed Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Nash tells Scotland’s Daily Record, “I went home and watched TV. I passed my driving test and started hanging out with my friends again. I stopped living out of a suitcase and moved into a flat. I was sleeping, reading books and going to the movies. I did ordinary things to get inspired.

“I feel a lot more in control now. I have had to fire a lot of people. Being a young girl and doing that gives you a different outlook. Over the last four years, I sacked a lot of people because things weren’t working out and relationships were negative. You can be surrounded by yes-men and women who just want to be seen with somebody cool. You have to know who your real friends are.”
