Tickets now on sale for Big Talk’s UK tour

Tickets are now available for Big Talk’s three shows this autumn.

The band, headed by The Killers’ drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr, will play in Glasgow, Manchester and London this September. The band’s debut album, Big Talk, was released in July to critical acclaim, and the three-piece will showcase it in the UK for the first time on the tour.

Full tour dates are:

Ronnie Vannucci’s Big Talk announce UK tour

Big Talk, the band headed by The Killers’ drummer Ronnie Vannucci, have revealed the details of their first UK tour.

So far just three dates have been announced, for Glasgow, Manchester and London. The band’s debut album, Big Talk, was released in July to critical acclaim. The shows will take place in September.

Full tour dates are:

Manchester, Academy – September 26th
London, Scala – September 28th

Kaiser Chiefs reveal support act for Kirkstall Abbey gigs

Leeds favourites Kaiser Chiefs have announced the support acts for their two huge homecoming shows at Kirkstall Abbey in September.

On Saturday, September 10th, the band will be supported by Gruff Rhys, Pete & The Pirates and The Neat. On Sunday September 11th, support will come from The Cribs, Frankie & The Heartstrings and Spector.

Kaiser Chief’s fourth album The Future Is Medieval was released recently to universal critical acclaim, and last weekend they supported The Killers at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park.

Arcade Fire ready to stun Hyde Park

Arcade Fire are preparing to wow crowds in London this week as they take to the stage in Hyde Park.

The Montreal-based orchestral rock band will play a headline slot on Thursday (June 30th), supported by an all-star line-up of The Vaccines, Beirut and Mumford & Sons. Arcade Fire begun June with an epic headline set at Bonnaroo, and are surely set to repeat that in Hyde Park. That show featured frontman Win Butler singing crowd favourite We Used To Wait from a platform within the audience, and their show earlier in the year at Coachella featured an awe-inspiring stage show of giant balloons, so UK fans travelling to London on Thursday are sure to be delighted. Performing tracks from their hit 2010 album The Suburbs, as well as old favourites from incredible debut album Funeral and critically acclaimed follow-up Neon Bible, Arcade Fire are famous for their energised live shows and diverse range of musical skills, with each member able to play multiple instruments.

This weekend Hyde Park played host to Hard Rock Calling, featuring stunning headline sets from The Killers, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart. This coming weekend will see Wireless Festival descend on Hyde Park, featuring headline sets from The Black Eyed Peas, The Chemical Brothers and Pulp.

As well as playing Hyde Park, the band will play Benicassim and August shows in Manchester and a special show at Edinburgh Castle.

The Killers set to play new material at Hard Rock Calling

The Killers have revealed they are likely to play new material when they appear tonight at Hard Rock Calling.

The international superstars are headlining the main stage tonight (Friday 24th), as Hard Rock Calling opens for the first of its three day slot in Hyde Park. In an interview with the Daily Star, drummer Ronnie Vannucci said, “Hard Rock Calling is a f****** great show – I love that show. We’re having our cake and eating it too.” Talking about their previous two nights spent performing at London’s Scala, he said, “These intimate gigs are sweaty, where everyone’s like five feet away and you can see the whites of their eyes. You really connect on a more personal level. But when you have 70,000 people, your gestures have to be bigger. It’s so important about being able to address a group, making a group feel as one.”

The drummer then revealed the audience tonight may witness new material for the first time: “As for us playing new songs, we might have a surprise for you.”

Hard Rock Calling arrives in Hyde Park tomorrow

There is just one day left until the star line-up of Hard Rock Calling arrives in London.

Taking place over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the festival will see headline sets from The Killers, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart.

Friday night will see The Killers headline the main stage, supported by Kaiser Chiefs. The Killers are currently writing the follow-up to their hugely successful third album, Day And Age, and so fans could possibly see a sneak preview of these songs. The band have also all recently begun solo projects, and they are expected to each play one of their own songs. Their two hour and forty minute set is sure to be incredible, with anthems such as When You Were Young, Bones, Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Human and Spaceman guaranteed to captivate the crowd. The Killers tonight play the second of two warm-up shows at London’s Scala, with both gigs having sold out in six minutes. Support comes from Kaiser Chiefs, who have just released their fourth album The Future Is Medieval. Headlining the Pepsi Max Stage will be The Kills.

On Saturday, Bon Jovi will headline the main stage. The legendary rockers will play a endurance-testing three hour set, performing hits such as It’s My Life and the epic Livin’ on a Prayer. Fresh from playing a sold-out show at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium, the band, who have racked up 120 million record sales, the band are guaranteed to provide a memorable evening. They are supported by legend Ray Davies, and Imelda May headlines the Pepsi Max Stage.

Sunday’s headline performance comes from pop-superstar Rod Stewart. The 66-year-old has had a career nearly half a century long, seven number-one singles and twenty-seven top-ten albums. Playing hits such as Maggie May, Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright) and Reason To Believe, fans both young and old are sure to enjoy the star’s classic show. Support comes from Stevie Nicks, while The Lighthouse Family, who reformed this year after an eight-year absence, headline the Pepsi Max Stage.

The Killers have started work on new album

The Band have already started work on their fifth album and have four to five tracks written.

The Killers are headlining Hard Rock Calling this Friday (the 24th) in Hyde Park. The band are playing two warm up gigs at London’s The Scala tonight and tomorrow.

Speaking to Radio 1 lead singer Brendon Flowers, confirmed that “we have about four or five” songs written and ready for the next album “We think they sound strong”. Although new material wont be debuted at Hard Rock Calling, both Brendon and drummer Ronnie Vannucci have launched solo careers, which could see them both take to the stage on short solo stints this Friday….

The Killers who have had a break from touring and recording, are on the weekends bill with heavy weights Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, whilst exciting Brendon confesses ” Those first gigs will definitely be never-wracking’.

Howling Bells to release new album in September

Indie-rockers Howling Bells have announced that their long awaited third album will be released in September.

The follow-up to their 2009 album Radio Wars will be released on September 12th. Titled The Loudest Engine, it had been originally intended to be released in 2010, after the band had written songs for it in 2009. Recorded at The Killers’ Nevada studio, and produced by The Killers’ bassist Mark Stoermer, the album is to be released just days before the band’s UK tour. Describing the album, lead singer Juanita Stein said, “There’s a singular sound which is more folk and rock than our last two albums, but it’s interpreted in a very modern sense. It wasn’t a conscious attempt to make a 70s-tinged record. It was a very natural progression.”

The quartet will play six dates across the UK this September. Tour dates are:

Hard Rock Calling descends on Hyde Park this weekend

Hyde Park is preparing to receive the world-class acts of Hyde Park Calling as the festival approaches.

Featuring headliners The Killers, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, the three-day even takes place this Friday (June 24th), Saturday (June 25th) and Sunday (26th). Also appearing over the weekend will be artists such as Kaiser Chiefs, Ray Davies, Stevie Nicks, The Kills and The Lighthouse Family. The acts will be spread over three stages throughout the park.

The Killers, headlining Friday, are expected to play a number of songs from their solo careers as well as hits from their three albums. Frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci launched solo careers this year, and bassist Mark Stoermer and guitarist Dave Keuning are both expected to play new solo material. The Killers will be supported by Kaiser Chiefs.

Saturday Night’s headliners Bon Jovi will be rejoined by guitarist Richie Sambora after he completed his stint in rehab. He entered rehab in April fighting alcoholism, during which the band said, “Our support for Richie is absolute.” The band have sold over 120 million albums worldwide, and will be supported by Ray Davies.

Rod Stewart is to close the festival on Sunday night. The singer has had seven hit singles and 27 top-ten albums in a career almost 50 years long. Stevie Nicks will act as support for Stewart, while The Lighthouse Family will appear headlining the Pepsi Max stage.

International superstars The Killers are preparing for their upcoming shows in London this week.

There are just two days to go before the four-piece commence the first of their three consecutive gigs in the capital city. The band are playing two intimate shows at London’s Scala on Wednesday (June 22nd) and Thursday (June 23rd), before headlining Hard Rock Calling on Friday (June 24th). The shows at the Scala, with a capacity of just 1100 each, are acting as warm-up shows before Friday’s headline event.

It was recently revealed that each member of the band is expecting to sing a solo song at Hard Rock Calling. Frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci have recently launched solo careers, with guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer expected to show off new material.

7 days until Hard Rock Calling hits Hyde Park

Less than seven days, one week, until London’s Hyde Park transforms in to the epicentre of rock with Hard Rock Calling.

The three day event kicks off on Friday the 24th with headliners The Killers. An exciting day for The Killers fans whom have missed the band while they had a two year break.

Fans are getting treated to a double serving of the band before Fridays big show too, The Killers play two intimate warm up shows on the 22nd and 23rd of June at London’s The Scala.

The Kaiser Chiefs support The Killers on Friday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with James and Michael Kiwanuka. On the Pepsi Max Stage headliner’s The Kills are supported by Good Natured.

The second day of this epic event sees Bon Jovi headline Saturday the 25th of June. Bon Jovi have been touring since February and will wrap up in July, drummer Tico Torres says “I think we need to take a break” but in an interview yesterday they expressed their excitement for performing in London’s Hyde Park.

Ray Davies supports Bon Jovi on Saturday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with Black Cards, Lissie and Vintage Trouble. On the Pepsi Max Stage headliner Imelda May is supported by Ryan Bingham.

AND there’s a bonus stage for Saturday named the Bandstand which sees headliner’s The Breakers supported by The Launderettes.

The third and final night of Hard Rock Calling wraps up on Sunday the 26th of June with headliner Rod Stewart. Grammy Award-winning Rob Stewart makes his debut performance at Hard Rock Calling but with seven number ones and 27 top ten albums he’s bound to take it in his stride.

Legendary Stevie Nicks supports Rob Stewart on Sunday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with Adam Ant, Rumer and Train. The Pepsi Max Stage headliner’s Lighthouse Family are supported by Mike and The Mechanics.

The Bandstand has headliners Vetiver supported by ZZE.

The Kills are headlining the Pepsi Max Stage at Hyde Park on the 24th of June, whilst The KillERS close the main stage. Imelda May will perform the following night as main act on the Pepsi Max Stage and Bon Jovi will close the main stage.

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince (of The Kills) will no doubt have their number one fan in tow too, wanna be rocker good old Kate Moss will surely join the band side of stage….

Review: One Man, Two Guvnors at the National Theatre

One Man, Two Guvnors is The National’s latest offering. It is Richard Bean’s adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s eighteenth century play, The Servant of Two Masters. Bean has relocated the Italian comedy to 60s Brighton. It is quite a surprise turn from the National as it is funny, seriously funny, perhaps the funniest production the National has ever staged – it is honestly wet yourself funny.

Starring tv actor, presenter and all round ‘funny man’ James Corden, who plays Francis Henshall, an unemployed musician who decides he can make his fortune by working for not one but two crooks.

The hilarity of the play lies in the way Bean and director Nicholas Hytner have sown the visual and verbal comedy together. There is a familiarity to the rhythm of the gags which sings of British humour. There is a very clever slapstick to it: ”love passes through marriage quicker than s**t through a small dog”.

James Corden can for many be a big pill to swallow. Unapologetically arrogant, smug and with an over inflated ego he’s not someone you can just ‘gloss over’ but it’s important to remember where his roots lie. Nicholas Hytner propelled Corden to stardom in Alan Bennett’s The History Boys at the National Theatre.

Whether returning to the stage or the union with Hytner, Corden is fantastic as Francis. His nonchalance on stage sweeps aside the complex and difficulty of the role. We see Cordens gift of interweaving physical comedy with sensitivity and touching gentleness. He effortlessly involves the audience, inviting them in but still letting the characters hunger and desperation play through.

He returns to his previous form of Gavin and Stacey before stardom polluted his brain and he gave the world monstrosities like Lesbian Vampire Killers (which was named “the worst film of the year” by the Observer) and Horne & Corden. Remember the first Corden and ignore the rest of it, ignore it. He’s is brilliant, the play is brilliant and you would be sorry to miss it.

If you really can’t stomach the thought of encouraging Corden’s ego then go for the rest of the cast, who are equally as mesmerizing in their talent and comic timing: ’Green Wing’s Oliver Chris and Neil Morrissey’s yuppie brother in ‘Rain Man’, West End stalwart Martyn Ellis, Trevor Laird who played the drug dealer in ‘Quadrophenia’ and Jemima Rooper who mans up to play one of the Guvnors, a sister in disguise. All performing fantastic hands.

One Man, Two Guvnors is a play of epic hilarity and enjoyed from start to finish, it really should not be missed.

The Killers to perform solo songs at Hard Rock Calling

Members of The Killers are set to perform solo songs, as well as the band’s numerous hits, throughout their set at next month’s Hard Rock Calling.

The band were recently confirmed to headline the Friday night of the festival, with Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart topping the bill on the Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Singer Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucii have both recently launched solo projectswhilst bassist Mark Stoermer and guitarist Dave Keuning have yet to release their own material.

A source told the Daily Star, “The boys will probably have a song each. Ronnie’s got his new album coming out soon and he’s got a really great voice.

“But whatever Dave does I’m sure it will be something a little weirder though.”

Hard Rock Calling 2011 tickets are on sale now, with the event set to take place from the 24th to the 26th June.

Kaiser Chiefs have been added to the line-up for this year’s Hard Rock Calling, supporting the Killers on the Friday night of the festival.

The three-day music event is due to take place in London’s Hyde Park between June 24th and June 26th.

The Killers will headline the opening night of the festival, with a performance from James also confirmed for the same evening. Bon Jovi have been confirmed to headline the Saturday night, whilst Rod Stewart will close the event on the Sunday evening.

Ray Davies has been confirmed to perform at this year’s Hard Rock Calling Festival. The former Kinks member will support Bon Jovi on the Saturday evening of the event.

As well as his work with The Kinks, Davies has released six solo albums. The most recent was last year’s See My Friends, which featured collaborations with Bruce Springsteen and Mumford and Sons.

This years Hard Rock Calling Festival will take place at Hyde Park from the 24th to the 26th June, and will also feature headline performances from The Killers and Rod Stewart.

The Killers have been announced as a headliner for Hyde Park’s Hard Rock calling event, taking to the stage on the Friday night.

Bon Jovi will headline the Saturday and Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks will close the three day festival on the Sunday.

The Las Vegas band have been on hiatus since 2010, with frontman Brandon Flowers recently releasing his first solo effort. Drummer Ronnie Vanucci also said in March that the band planned to ‘take their time’ with their next album.

This is the fifth year that the iconic London park has held the festival, with previous headliners including The Who and Bruce Springsteen. The Killers were previously the Friday night headliners in 2009.

Dave Grohl says parts of film is ‘hard to watch’

Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl has said parts of the band’s new documentary film are “hard to watch”.

He said moments in Back And Forth, screened in 165 cinemas across the UK tonight (7 April), made him feel “incredibly uncomfortable”. It charts Grohl’s time in Nirvana to the formation of Foo Fighters up until the recording of their recent album Wasting Light, released on 12 April.

The film shows the near death of drummer Taylor Hawkins back in 2001. Hawkins, who has expressed his discomfort at the film being released, spent two days in a coma following an overdose from painkillers.

“I watched the movie first before the band did,” said Dave Grohl, speaking in February. “I asked to watch it before the band did because I didn’t want it to break up our band.”

On a personal note Grohl said the most difficult footage for him to watch was where he binned the recordings made by Foo Fighters original drummer William Goldsmith for second album The Colour And Shape and rerecorded them himself.

“It was brutal,” admitted Grohl. “That part made me incredibly uncomfortable. I told everybody, ‘There’s going to be something for each one of you in this movie that will make you feel incredibly uncomfortable.’

“I think that’s good because it means we’re telling the true story.”

The film plays in cinemas in the UK tonight.

Mercury Records to stop releasing CD Singles

Arcade Fire, U2 and The Killers’ record label Mercury have announced that they will be stopping the release of singles on CD and vinyl.

Mercury, like many other labels, have lost money on physically released singles in 2010 and have now said that they will only release them on ”rare occasions”. Physical singles now only provide less than 1% of total weekly single sales, with digital downloads fastly becoming the main source for music lovers.

However, sales of vinyl records increased last year as CD sales fell.

Elton John’s 1997 Candle In The Wind, a tribute to Princess Diana is still the UK’s biggest ever selling single and the second biggest single of all time, behind Bing Crosby’s White Christmas.

Brandon Flowers has had a productive year. Whilst the rest of his band The Killers decided to take a well earned rest after years of near non-stop touring, their vocalist had a million ideas that couldn’t wait to be released.

V Festival lineup to be announced today

Festival season is almost upon us, with news of lineups and tickets going on sale practically constant in the music press. This evening at 5:55pm, V Festival 2010 announces its headline acts and tickets will be on sale this Friday 5th March at 9am.

V Festival has boasted brilliant performances from big-name acts every year since its inception, and last year saw Oasis headline their very last festival at Weston Park alongside Las Vegas rockers The Killers and Lady Gaga. Kasabian and Calvin Harris to play post-BRITS charity gig

It has recenty been revealed that Kasabian and Calvin harris will join La Roux at this month’s post-BRIT Awards charity concert.

The concert is set to take place after the 2010 BRIT Awards on February , and Tixdaq can confirm that Kasabian and Calvin Harris will be joining La Roux as well as some very special guests at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire following the BRIT Awards ceremony.

The event has been set by the War Child charity for the second year running. Last year’s post-BRIT Awards concert featrued performances from The Killers, Coldplay and Gary Barlow. War Child will be receiving support from O2 who sponsor the venue. All of the money raised will go towards helping children living in war zones across the globe.

La Roux set for charity gig

La Roux are set to perform at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire for charity War Child next month. Held after the Brit Awards on February 16th, the annual event follows in the footsteps of last year’s concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire, which featured performances from The Killers, Coldplay, U2′s Bono and Gary Barlow.

It has recently been confirmed that Lady GaGa was the most listened to artist of 2009. According to a number of online streaming services including Last.fm and Spotify, Lady GaGa has officially been confirmed as the most played artist over the course of the last twelve months.

The Killers came in second place, while Lily Allen, The Prodigy and Franz Ferdinand made up t he top five.

Tickets to Hard Rock Calling, London’s three night rock-fest in June 2010, have gone on sale this morning. Pearl Jam will headline the Friday night with a further 12 acts to be confirmed in the near future. Last year saw Bruce Springsteen and the Killers, supported by the likes of the Dave Matthews Band. Thousands of Hard Rock Calling tickets are available between £70 – £200.

Rumours are currently circulating suggesting that US rockers, Pearl Jam are set to headline the 2010 Hard Rock Calling Festival. The Festival has now been going for 3 years and has become increasingly popular with UK music fans.Past headline acts have included The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and The Killers. Last year’s Hard Rock Calling event was headlined by Neil Young and included a brief performance from Paul McCartney.

Pearl Jam have yet to confirm whether or not they will be playing at the 2010 Hard Rock Calling event, but it has been revealed that an “exciting announcement” will be made next Monday (December 7).

Oxegen tickets go on sale this Friday

It has been announced that early bird Oxegen festival tickets are set to go on sale this Friday (December 4). The hugely popular festival takes place in Ireland at Punchestown Racecourse from July 8 – July 11.

Oxegen 2010 tickets will be released at 9 am on Friday morning. 2010 Oxegen tickets will be sold at the same price as they were for the 2007 Oxegen Festival – €225 for three days camping (approximately £200).

Headline acts for next year’s Oxegen Festival have yet to be announced, but some of the world’s most popular acts will undoubtedly be performing. Last year’s highlights included Blur, The Killers and Kings of Leon.

It has recently been revealed that Little Boots and The Maccabees will join the list of top acts set to perform at this year’s Oxegen Festival which is set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse this summer (July 10-12)

The Kooks to perform two intimate gigs in July

Festival favourites The Kooks have announced that they will be performing two intimate shows in the middle of a busy summer period.

The new shows added will take place on Thursday July 16 at the Winter Gardens, Margate and on Friday July 17 at The Opera House, Bournemouth.

Tickets for the new shows will go on general sale on Friday 24 April at 10am.

The Kooks are also set to headline the Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park, London with The Killers.

It has been announced that The Killers, Franz Ferdinand,Klaxons, Moby, The Ting Tings andOrbital have all agreed to appear at this B’estfest event due to take place in Bucharest, Romania this coming July (July1 to July 5).

Also due to appear at this years event are The Ting Tings, Moby, Motorhead, Santana, and The Charlatans. While other acts include; Thievery Corporation, Patrice, Ayo,The Faint, Manowar and Holyhell.

B’estfest which represents the highlight of the Romanian music calendar will take place across two outdoor stages and one indoor Arena.

It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.

The Prodigy top the Chart

This week’s race to the top of the official UK albums chart has been one by The Prodigy. The Prodigy’s latest release, Invaders Must Die’, is this week’s highest new entry after selling almost 100,000 copies. The latest album from The Prodigy follows all of its ancestors since the 1994 release, Music For a Jilted Generation, by claiming the number one chart spot. Kings of Leon returned to second place in the albums charts after reclaiming their chart crown last week. Kings of Leon have now spent twenty three weeks in the official UK chart. Last week’s number two, Lily Allen, slipped to number three and Duffy was a non-mover at four. Lady Gaga makes up this week’s top five after moving up the chart two places. The rest of the top ten is made up by Elbow, Ting Tings, Take That, Fleet Foxes and The Killers.

A number of this week’s chart entries are on tour in the UK in 2009 and tickets are still available. Blur return but Oasis are still the world’s best band

London’s O2 Academy Brixton was host to the surprise return of Blur after a self enforced seven year absence. Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon received an ovation from the crowd of rock royalty attending this year’s NME Award Show.

The former Britpop stars took to the stage for the first time together since splitting in 2002 with the surprise and low key performance of This Is A Low from one the most successful albums of the 90′s Parklife.

This performance marks the official return of Blur as they set out to tour the UK this summer with a live dates including performances at summer festivals T in the Park and Oxegen as well as headline shows at Manchester MEN Arena (June 26) two historical gigs in London’s Hyde Park(July 2 & 3).

The surprise Blur performance acted as the perfect cap to yet another memorable NME awards show which saw Oasis crowned best band and The Cure named Godlike Geniuses, Pete Doherty named best male solo artist and Kings of Leon were rewarded with best album for Only By The Night.

Meanwhile other award recipients included MGMT who took away best new band and best track, The Killers who were named best international band and Muse who once again took home best live band.

In the less rewarding categories NME readers voted for he Jonas Brothers to receive worst band and worst album prizes, while Amy Winehouse was voted the world’s worst dressed woman. However style icon and tv presenter Alexa Chung was voted best dressed.

Elbow were honoured for their outstanding contribution to British music and The Cure won the Godlike Genius Award.

Oasis and Kings of Leon lead NME Awards charge

This years NME award nomination’s are dominated by former britpop legends Oasis and current Usrock royalty Kings of Leon. Oasis have been nominated for seven awards, including best band, best live band, best album and best video while Kings of Leon are in line for four statues, in the categories of best international band and best live band.

Life performances at the awards show are due to given by hotly tipped newcomers White Lies, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas, seasoned pro’s Franz Ferdinand and life time legend’s The Cure

Lily Allen joins Kings of Leon and The Killers on Oxegen Stage

Lily Allen, Keane, The Specials, Paolo Nutini, Digitalism and The Mars Volta are all amongst the latest round of performers confirmed to be playing this year’s Oxegen festival.

Wallis Bird, Swedish House Mafia, Miss Kittin and The Hacker, Crookers and Hockey have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse on (July 10, 11 & 12).

Oxegen 2009 is promising to be one of the stand out festivals of the year with Lily Allen, Keane,and The Specials will be joining acts such as The Killers, Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have all previously confirmed appearances at this years festival.

Kings of Leon play UK shows in June visiting the O2 Arena, London and the Manchester Evening News Arena. Kings of Leon tickets are available from £50.

The Killers launch lawsuit against former manager

The Killers have launched legal proceedings against their former manager Braden Merrick in pursuit of compensation for multi-million-dollar damages in missed concerts and lost touring revenues and the mishandling of merchandising and promotional opportunities.

The terms of the lawsuit describe Braden Merrick as an unresponsive and ineffective manager, often failing to fulfil essential duties expected of a manager. Reference is also maked to the fact that Braden Merrick acted as a consultant to the band’s label, Island Def Jam without their knowledge or consent.

This lawsuit follows shortly after Braden Merrick originally attempted to sue The Killers and their current manager, Robert Reynolds, for approximately $16 million apiece for unfair dismissal, breach of contract and failure to pay royalties owed to Merrick.

The Killers will be attempting to distract themselves from the legal proceedings as they continue their current UK tour. The Killers tour will play the second of their London O2 Area dates this evening (February 24) before continuing on to Birmingham’s LG arena (February 26 & 27), Cardiff International Arena (February 28), Sheffield Arena (March 2),Nottingham Ice Centre (march 3) Aberdeen Exhibition Centre (March 5) and the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (March 7). Duffy and Coldplay to storm Brit Awards?

Artists including Duffy, Coldplay, Adele and Elbow were amongst the acts nominated for more than one award for tonight’s 2009 Brit Awards ceremony . Coldplay and Duffy lead the way with four nominations each including the awards for Best Album and Best Single. Coldplay were also nominated for Best Live Act. Elbow and Adele received three nominations each. Other nominees include Girls Aloud, The Streets, James Morrison and Paul Weller.

The Killers, MGMT and Kings of Leon dominate the international acts with two nominations each. All three artists are up for the Best International Album award and face stiff competition from rock veterans AC/DC.

The 2009 Brit Awards kick off this evening at London Earl’s Court.

Promoter’s MCD have announced that The Killers have joined the line-up for this year’s Oxegen festival.

Having also confirmed a series of festival appearances this summer including T In The Park, the Las Vegas band will also headline the Irish festival for the second year in a row at Punchestown Racecourse between July 10-12.

The Killers will be joining acts such as Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have all previously confirmed appearances at this years festival.

Fans will have many chance to catch The Killers this summer as The Killers summer tour starts in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena (February 21), before moving on to venues including London’s O2 Arena (February 23 &24), Cardiff International Arena (February 28), Aberdeen Exhibition Centre (March 5) and the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (March 7). The Killers tour comes to a close with two back to back shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (March 9 & 10). Killers tickets are currently available from £56.

Snow Patrol also hit the road this February. The mammoth Snow Patrol tour kicks off in Bournemouth at the International Conference Centre on February 22. The Snow Patrol tour comes to a close with four shows at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast (March 19, 20, 21 &23). Snow Patrol tickets are available from £34.

Lily Allen scores chart double

This week, Lily Allen has achieved the feat of claiming the number one spot in the official singles chart as well as the album chart simultaneously. Lily Allen’s latest single, The Fear, spent its second week at the top of the singles chart, while her latest album, It’s Not Me It’s You, made its debut at number one. Lily Allen has ensured that she has not been out of the headlines for the weeks leading up to the release. As a result of the intense publicity, Lily Allen has achieved a something that few other artists have.

Second place in the albums chart went to Kings of Leon. Kings of Leon have now spent twenty one weeks in the top ten. UB40 climbed sixteen places to clinch the third spot. Luther Vandross and James Morrison claimed the fourth and fifth positions respectively. Despite topping the chart last week, Bruce Springsteen fell six positions to number seven. The Fray were this week’s second highest new entry, claiming eighth place. The Killers and Luciano Pavarotti make up the remainder of this week’s top ten albums chart.

A number of this week’s album chart entries are performing live in the UK in 2009. This week’s chart topper, Lily Allen, kicks off her UK tour in March. The Lily Allen tour starts at the Glasgow O2 Academy on March 14. The Lily Allen also visits Bristol O2 Academy (March 18), Brighton Dome (March 20) and Birmingham O2 Academy (March 23). The Lily Allen tour comes to a close in London Where Lily Allen will play three shows at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. Lily Allen tickets are still available from £33. Last week’s chart winner, Bruce Springsteen, recently announced he will be playing two dates at London’s Hyde Park this summer. Kings of Leon, The Killers and James Morrison will also be no the road this year and tickets to see them on stage are still available.
