Fans enjoy Leeds Festival despite rain

Despite Leeds Festival being hit by showers, fans are braving the mud to see some incredible live music.

The current forecast for today is rain, but it is set to clear up tomorrow and by Sunday should be dry with sunshine. Fans heading to the main stage today will not let the wet weather dampen their spirits as they watch headliners Muse, who have promised to play the entirety of hit album, Origin Of Symmetry, in full. Also appearing are Elbow, Interpol, and Friendly Fires, with 2manydjs and The Streets headlining the NME/Radio 1 tent.

Tomorrow will see My Chemical Romance headlining the main stage with Beady Eye topping the bill of the NME/Radio 1 tent. Sunday will see an incredible finale of The National, The Strokes and finally Pulp to close the festival.

Reading Festival kicks off today – tickets still available

Reading Festival begins today, and will see some incredible performances over the next three days.

The first day will see My Chemical Romance headline the main stage in their first Reading show in five years. Also appearing on the main stage are Thirty Seconds To Mars and The Offspring. Beady Eye will headline the NME/Radio 1 tent.

Tickets are still available for the Saturday and Sunday of the event. Saturday will see The Strokes and Pulp headline the main stage, with The National, Jane’s Addiction and Bombay Bicycle Club also appearing. On Sunday Muse are set to headline, with Elbow, Intepol, Friendly Fires, 2manydjs and The Streets also performing. It is sure to be an incredible weekend.

My Chemical Romance speak out before headline slot at Reading and Leeds

My Chemical Romance have spoken out in the build up to their headline performances at Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend.

Last time they performed at the festivals (in 2006) they were bottled off stage so there is evidently a certain degree of anxiety for them going in to the weekend. The lead singer Gerard Way told the Daily Star, “We haven’t felt like we’ve had anything to prove in a long time, so maybe this is the right time to do that.”

He went on to add, “We’re closing a festival where not everyone has approved of us in the past.” The comments surely indicate that they are saving something special for Reading and Leeds Festivals. Acts also on the bill include Muse, The Strokes and The Streets.

Professor Green, Example and The Streets confirmed for The Big Reunion

The line-up for The Big Reunion festival has been revealed, and features some of the biggest names in rap and dance.

The Big Reunion is held over two weekends in November, and is the UK’s biggest indoor music event in winter. This year’s festival, the eleventh, takes place in Butlins, Skegness, on November 18th-20th and November 25th-27th. A great line-up includes headliners The Streets (performing one of their final gigs), and Example, with Judge Jules, Kissy Sell Out, Devlin, Ironik and Westwood all set to perform.

Professor Green is set to headline the Twice As Nice stage on weekend two. The show comes part way through his extensive UK tour, which kicks off on November 2nd at the Brighton Dome.

This year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals are almost underway and today, (24th August) is your last chance to get your hands on tickets for what is sure to be a weekend of amazing live music on both sites.

The National’s Edinburgh setlist bodes well for Reading and Leeds

The National last night (August 23rd) performed a triumphant set at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange ahead of their performances at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The three-day event is held at Bramham Park from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August. Friday will see Muse headline the main stage, whilst on Saturday My Chemical Romance take the top spot, and Sunday sees a joint headline position shared by The Strokes and Pulp.

U2 performed the latest of a series of US shows last night at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, and treated the sell-out crowd to hits including Sunday Bloody Sunday, Where The Streets Have No Name and City Of Blinding Lights. Below is fan footage of the band performing With Or Without You.

Following the latest U2 tour, the band are expected to start work on what will be their 13th studio album.

Wireless Festival arrives in Hyde Park today – tickets and live streaming available

Today Wireless Festival kicks off in Hyde Park, for a weekend of great live music spread across four stages.

Wireless Festival live streaming is available all weekend.

The weekend is headlined by Black Eyed Peas today (July 1st), The Chemical Brothers on Saturday (July 2nd) and Pulp (July 3rd). Also appearing across the weekend on the main stage are Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Chase & Status, The Streets, Grace Jones and TV On The Radio. Headlining the Pepsi Max Stage are David Guetta (July 1st), Aphex Twin (July 2nd) and Foals (July 3rd), with Alexis Jordan, Battles, and The Pretty Reckless just a sample of the other acts appearing.

Pulp’s headline show comes after their recent reunion – previously they had been on a hiatus since 2002. Last weekend they took Glastonbury by storm when performing a secret gig on The Park Stage.

The festival is set in the heart of London in Hyde Park, which last night (June 30th) played host to 60,000 fans watching a spectacular Arcade Fire set.

The Black Eyed Peas prepare for Wireless festival headline set

The Black Eyed Peas are set to stun crowds in Hyde Park this weekend when they headline Wireless Festival on Friday.

Headlining an all star line-up on Friday (July 1st), The Black Eyed Peas appear last on the main stage after performances from Example, Bruno Mars, Tinie Tempah and Plan B. Also on the first day of the festival, David Guetta headlines the Pepsi Max Stage while Chipmunk tops the bill on the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

Saturday (July 2nd) sees a main stage headline set from dance superstars The Chemical Brothers. Also present on the main stage will be Katy B, Ke$ha, Chromeo, The Streets and Chase & Status. Electronic artist Aphex Twin headlines the Pepsi Max Stage with Justin Robertson headlining the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

This Sunday (July 3rd), see reformed superstars Pulp close the festival on the main stage. Supporting them will be Devotchka, Metronomy, The Horrors, The Hives, TV On The Radio and Grace Jones. Math-rockers Foals headline the Pepsi Max Stage, while Funeral Party will close the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

UK summer festival guide – V Festival, Reading and Leeds, Bestival and more

Although Glastonbury has now ended, there are still plenty of high quality festivals featuring some incredible line ups still to come.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

Glastonbury 2011: Preview and live streaming

The world’s most famous festival, The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, kicks off tomorrow.

Featuring more than 700 acts across more than 30 stages, watched by more than 175,000 people, the festival is renowned worldwide for its great atmosphere and legendary performances.

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The Other Stage will be headlined by Primal Scream (Friday), The Chemical Brothers (Saturday) and Queens of the Stone Age (Sunday). Also playing the festival’s second stage will be Mumford & Sons, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes and Bright Eyes.

The John Peel Stage will see DJ Shadow (Friday), Glasvegas (Saturday) and The Streets (Sunday) headline. Other acts playing the stage named in honour of the legendary Radio 1 DJ include The Coral, Battles, Robyn, Noah and the Whale and Warpaint.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

U2 debate Glastonbury setlist

U2 band members debate this weekends festival setlist, each with very different ideas.

U2′s drummer Larry Mullen told the sun that there are two different camps on how the set setlist should go “we’ve got a number of combinations and everyone seems to have a different opinion. ” ” There’s a ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’ camp or there is the more subtle approach where we could build slowly”

U2 are headlining this Friday night the 24th of June and being the first night of Glastonbury they are setting the tone for the entire weekend, so the setlist is a major debate. As Larry said ” we all know who gets his way in the end”

Glastonbury kicks off this Friday the 24th of June and runs until Sunday the 26th of June.

Paolo Nutini reveals new album plans

Scottish singer and songwriter Paolo Nutini has confirmed that he is close to completing his third studio album.

Following from his 2006 breakthrough These Streets, and the hit 2009 album Sunny Side Up, Nutini has revealed that all tracks have been recorded and just need to be put them in the right order, saying, “it can’t be too long now.” He describes the upcoming record as having “a bigger sort of sound” to his previous albums, and hopes the album will allow for longer festival sets. The Scot has just wowed crowds with a headline slot at Rockness on Sunday night, including smash hits Jenny Don’t Be Hasty and New Shoes.

Nutini will play Glastonbury and Latitude festivals this summer. Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now, with Nutini playing on the Saturday.

The Hives, Yuck and more added to Wireless Festival line-up

More names have been added to the bill for this year’s Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, set to take place from the 1st to the 3rd of July.

Mike Posner, Natalia Kills and girl group StooShe have been added to the opening day of the event, to be headlined by Black Eyed Peas.

Alex Metric, Alpines and Luke Bingham will play on the second night, opening for The Chemical Brothers, Chase and Status and The Streets.

The Hives, Yuck and Vintage Trouble have been added to the Sunday line-up, which will also see performances from Pulp, Foals and Grace Jones.

Patrick Wolf signs up to Loaded in the Park

Patrick Wolf has signed up to appear on Get Loaded in the Park’s main stage this year.

He’ll be joining the likes of Razorlight, the Cribs (who will be without Johnny Marr after they went their separate ways), The Noisettes and British Sea Power.

The event will take place at Clapham Common, London, on 12th June. The festival started in 2004 and was initially on August Bank Holiday, but changed to its new date after a sbbatical in 2010.

Previous years have hosted the likes of Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Gossip, Supergrass, Graham Coxon and MIA.

More acts added to Lounge on the Farm Festival

The Vaccines have been added to the line-up of this year’s Lounge On The Farm Festival.

The event, which takes place on July 8-10 at Merton Farm in Canterbury, is being headlined by The Streets, Ellie Goulding and Echo And The Bunnymen.

The festival organisers like to keep the event ‘non conformist’, promoting acts from Kent as well as the growing list of big names that are now attracted to the festival. The festival has so far been held four times.

Other acts set for this year are Katy B, Example and Graham Coxon.

Noah & The Whale and Bombay Bicycle Club are the latest acts confirmed for Benicassim, the annual festival held during the gorgeous Valencian summer.

They join headliners Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes at the event, alongside Mumford & Sons and The Streets.

Benicassim takes place just outside Valencia on the 14th-17th July 2011. Previous artists to have played the festival include Radiohead, Morrissey and Kraftwek.

Mike Skinner writing score for new Inbetweeners movie

The Streets’ Mike Skinner is currently writing the score for the upcoming Inbetweeners movie. The film is due to be released this year, much to the delight of fans of the hit Channel 4 show.

A source told The Sun: ”Mike is the perfect fit. All the material he is writing for the film is new. He is really excited about the whole thing.”

The final ever Streets tour came to a close this month, with Mike Skinner confirmed to perform his last ever show under ‘The Streets’ name at this year’s Reading and Leeds festival.

My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Muse to headline Reading and Leeds Festival

My Chemical Romance will be headlining Reading on the Friday and Leeds on Saturday, with support from 30 Seconds To Mars, The Offspring, Deftones, Rise Against, Bring Me The Horizon, The Blackout and Architects.

The Strokes will top the bill at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday, along with performances from Pulp, The National, Jimmy Eat World, Madness, Two Door Cinema Club, Seasick Steve, The Pigeon Detectives and The Joy Formidable.

Muse will headline Reading on Sunday and Friday in Leeds, with support from Elbow, Interpol, Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari, The View, Frank Turner and We Are The Ocean.

Beady Eye, Janes Addiction, 2many DJ’s, White Lies, Crystal Castles, The Streets, Noah and the Whale, Bombay Bicycle Club and Death From Above 1979 have also all been confirmed to appear across the weekend.

Reading Festival will take place at Richfield Avenue from the 26th to 28th August, whilst Leeds Festival will take place at Bramham Park across the same weekend. Weekend tickets will be priced at around £190, whilst day tickets will be priced at £80.

Justin Bieber causes chaos outside Liverpool Hotel

Bieber Fever took over the streets of Liverpool last night, as crowds gathered outside the hotel where Justin Bieber was staying. The pop star is due to perform at Liverpool Echo Arena tonight, and was advised to stay indoors yesterday evening in order to prevent a ‘possible riot situation.’

The Canadian singer was later granted permission to wave to the hordes of fans from his hotel balcony.

The Streets to headline brand new UK festival

The Streets have been confirmed to headline a brand new UK festival, set to take place in Bristol this year. We The People will take place on June 4th and 5th, the festival will be held in the city’s Harbour, with three arenas set up to host artists and DJs.

The Streets will headline the Sunday night, with Chase and Status topping the bill on the Saturday.

The Streets tickets are on sale for the band’s final show of their current UK tour, set to take place at Newcastle O2 Academy on 12th March.

David Guetta, Bruno Mars and The Streets join Wireless Festival 2011 line-up

David Guetta and Bruno Mars have been confirmed to perform at the Wireless Festival on Friday July 1st, while The Streets will join the line-up for Saturday July 2nd.

The festival, which takes place in London’s Hyde Park, is shaping up to be one of the best with acts such as The Black Eyed Peas, Plan B, The Chemical Brothers, Pulp, Tinie Tempah and Chase and Status already confirmed.

Lounge on the Farm headliners The Streets and Ellie Golding will be joined by Example, Jamie Woon and Annie Mac.

The event, which takes place on on July 8-10 at Merton Farm in Canterbury, will also feature Echo & The Bunnymen, Liam Bailey, Devlin and Trophy Wife.

Lounge on the Farm is set to be bigger and better than ever with a brand new main stage. The stage will be taking over responisibilties from the legendary Cow Shed, which will now become a dance arena with a twist.

The Streets, Mike Skinner’s innovative project for the last 9 years, is set to come to an end.

2011′s Computers and Blues is the fifth album since Original Pirate Material was released in 2002, and ranks up there with Skinner’s best work.

He will set off on a UK tour in support of the album, which will of course be his final appearance live in concert.

Mike Skinner to retire The Streets after UK tour

Mike Skinner has confirmed that he will retire The Streets persona after his upcoming UK tour, which is set to take place throughout February and March.

The UK artist has enjoyed huge success since The Streets debut album, Original Pirate Material was released in 2002, and it is not yet know whether Skinner will continue to perform hit songs under his own name.

The Streets support act has been confirmed for the hip-hop acts upcoming Fenruary and March UK tour dates. Mike Skinner will be joined by British rock band Brother, for all upcoming live dates.

The Streets UK tour will take place in support of the release of the act’s latest album, Computers and Blues. The record will be released in early February and is rumoured to be Mike Skinner’s final LP under the stage name, The Streets.

Hadouken! release video for new single Mic Check

Hadouken! have built up a tremendous following over the last three years with their unique style of music that combines grime lyrics with other genres such as indie and dance. January 2007 saw single That Boy That Girl / Tuning In played by Mike Skinner of The Streets on BBC Radio One and interest shot through the roof – an amazing achievement for a band signed to their own record label. Second single Liquid Lives managed the even more impressive feat of denting the UK Singles Chart at no. 36, and subsequently Hadouken! were signed to Atlantic Records, with whom they brought out their debut album Music For An Accelerated Culture in 2008.

Hadouken! released their second album For The Masses in late January this year, and judging by the album’s title it would appear that the band intend to garner an even larger fanbase. They release single Mic Check on April 12th and the video is now in circulation on music channels ahead of that date. In support of this, the band are currently touring the UK. The Streets reschedule cancelled Edinburgh gig

The Streets will play at the Edinburgh HMV Picture House on August 31 after having to cancel their original date of August 14.

The original August 14 show at the Edinburgh HMV Picture House had to be cancelled because The Streets’ bassist Wayne Vibes was diagnosed with swine flu.

Original tickets will remain valid for the new date.

The Streets are also scheduled to perform on The Arena stage at V Festival, which is taking place at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park over the weekend of August 22-23.

The Streets‘ last scheduled date for the UK will take place at the Birmingham O2 Academy on September 12.

V Festival Chelmsford Tickets sell out in under two hours

Tickets for the V Festival’s Chelmsford site have sold out in less than two hours this morning according to the events organisers.

Meanwhile the final few tickets available for the Weston Park site of the two site two day festival are quickly diminishing after they went on sale at 10am this morning (March 6).

V Festival snag Oasis and Killers as headline acts

It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.

Oasis will be adding this V festival performance to their already extensive world tour which will see them return to the UK later this year including some epic shows at the City of Manchester stadium and Wembley.

Meanwhile The killers will be adding the V festival to a series of other summer festival headline appearances at Oxegen and T in the park. This follows a February and March UK tour for the busy and increasing popular American group.

Paul Weller Scoops Best British Solo Male at Brit Awards

The success of Paul Weller’s 2008 album 22 dreams helped the former Jam frontman beat off competition from other British solo artist Ian Brown, James Morrison, The streets and Will Young to be name Best Britsh Solo Artist of 2008.

Paul Weller’s Award was tainted in some controversy however following various bookmakers’ decision to suspend all Brits award related betting on suspicion that a list of winners had been leaked following a sudden rush of wagers were placed on Paul Weller to win best solo male artist across several William Hill Bookmakers.

Fans will have an oppurtunity to see the Mod father live in concert this summer which sees Paul Weller begin a tour at Halifax Victoria Theatre (May 5) continuing on to shows at Stoke Victoria Hall (May 6) Blackpool Empress Ballroom (May Middlesborough Town Hall (May 9) Doncaster Dome (May 11) Derby Assembly Rooms (May 12) Motherwell Concert Hall (May 14) Dundee Caird Hall (May 15) Bournemouth Opera House (May 17) Bristol Colston Hall (May 18) Leicester De Montfort Hall (May 19) finally finishing his tour at London;s Hammersmith Apollo (May21).

Other winners at the 2009 Brit Awards took place at London Earl’s Court included Kings of Leon who took home the awards for Best International Album and Best International Group, Elbow won the Best Group award, Katy Perry was named Best International Female and Iron Maiden took home the award for Best Live Act. As many had expected, Paul Weller picked up the Best Male Solo Artist award. Pet Shop Boys picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Music award and Florence and the Machine won the Critics’ Choice award.

A number of last night’s winners are on tour this year and tickets are selling fast. Katy Perry, Elbow, Kings of Leon and Paul Weller will be touring the UK in 2009.

Kings of Leon play UK shows in June visiting the O2 Arena, London and the Manchester Evening News Arena. Kings of Leon tickets are available from £50.

The first stage of the 2009 The Katy Perry tour kicks off on February 25 at Manchester Academy. Katy Perry then visits the KOKO club in London where she will play two back-to-back shows (February 26 &27). The second Katy Perry tour of 2009 starts at Brighton Dome (June 2) and features performances at Glasgow Barrowlands (June 6) and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (June 9 & 10). Artists including Duffy, Coldplay, Adele and Elbow were amongst the acts nominated for more than one award for tonight’s 2009 Brit Awards ceremony . Coldplay and Duffy lead the way with four nominations each including the awards for Best Album and Best Single. Coldplay were also nominated for Best Live Act. Elbow and Adele received three nominations each. Other nominees include Girls Aloud, The Streets, James Morrison and Paul Weller.

The acts nominated for the 2009 Brit Awards were announced last night at the London Roundhouse.

Duffy, Coldplay, Adele and Elbow were amongst the acts nominated for more than one award. Coldplay and Duffy lead the way with four nominations each including the awards for Best Album and Best Single. Coldplay were also nominated for Best Live Act. Elbow and Adele received three nominations each. Other nominees include Girls Aloud, The Streets, James Morrison and Paul Weller.
