The lead singer Gerard Way told the Daily Star, “We haven’t felt like we’ve had anything to prove in a long time, so maybe this is the right time to do that.”

He went on to add, “We’re closing a festival where not everyone has approved of us in the past.” The comments surely indicate that they are saving something special for Reading and Leeds Festivals. January 2007 saw single That Boy That Girl / Tuning In played by Mike Skinner of The Streets on BBC Radio One and interest shot through the roof – an amazing achievement for a band signed to their own record label. Second single Liquid Lives managed the even more impressive feat of denting the UK Singles Chart at no. 36, and subsequently Hadouken! were signed to Atlantic Records, with whom they brought out their debut album Music For An Accelerated Culture in 2008.

Hadouken! released their second album For The Masses in late January this year, and judging by the album’s title it would appear that the band intend to garner an even larger fanbase. They release single Mic Check on April 12th and the video is now in circulation on music channels ahead of that date. In support of this, the band are currently touring the UK.
