Speaking to NME, the band said they didn’t want to keep fans waiting as long as they had to for their second album, which was released four years after their first. Frontman Matthew Murphy said: “I don’t want to leave it as long this time round. We’ll be touring right up until of the end of the festivals next summer, but after that we’ll try and put something together. Saying that though, I want it to be good, so if it’s 2045 or 2013, so be it.”

Speaking about their upcoming tour, which takes place in September and October, he said: “We’ve got lasers. They’re really expensive, but they’re amazing. We’ve got some cool visuals too, it’s going to be great.”

On the Friday night the Wombats closed things up with a set of rip-roaring indie dance anthems. The Wombats were supported by other acts including Ed Sheeran and Example.

On the Saturday it was the turn of Snoop Dogg who had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand and his classics such as Gin N’ Juice induced rapturous sing-alongs.

Whilst it was left to the Scissor Sisters to close the weekend up on the Sunday, and they delivered an amazing set of pop fuelled revelry to finish things off in style.

Friday festival-goers may consider themselves lucky, as the weather in London for the remainder of the weekend is expected to take a turn for the worse.

Today, acts such as The Drums, Katy B and Lykke Li will perform on the main stage, which will also host a headline performance from Snoop Dogg, who will play his classic album Duoggystyle in full.

Scissor Sisters will close the festival tomorrow evening and will be supported by Blondie and Robyn.

Taking place in London’s Victoria Park and founded by Groove Armada, the weekend music festival has been labelled “London’s most convincing festival” by NME, and although only running since 2002, has become a firm favourite within the young festival-goers scene.

Headlining the Gaymers Stage on Friday (July 15th) are The Wombats, with support coming from Example and Metronomy. Ed Banger headlines the Relentless Energy Drink Arena. Also appearing on Friday are Ms Dynamite, Vice and Aeroplane.

One half of the bands singers, Ana Matronic, gossiped that the band would perform at least one new track: ”I’m hoping that we’ll actually be playing a new song that people have not heard at all,”

Jake Shears, the other half of the bands vocals has been working away on his musical and so Ana & the band have been doing the new album without him:  ”Jake is out in San Francisco finishing up work on his musical which debuts in just a few weeks. We’re writing without him and he’s going to come back in June and then we are all going to work together and try and put out a new album.”

As ever with the Scissor Sisters, we were left guessing, when Ana hinted that another act may join them on stage  for a “collaboration between us and another that is playing that day. We will leave the surprise for July.” owwwwwwww.

The Liverpudlian indie rock trio took to the stage at Notting Hill’s Supperclub venue and played their new album in full, as well as highlights from their back catalogue.

The band decided to wear their Sunday best. with drummer Dan Haggis wearing a waistcoat, bassist Tord Overland-Knudsen in a dickey bow and singer Matthew Murphy in a shirt and suit jacket.

The show was broadcast live on the internet through the band’s website, and after the band finished with set closer ‘Moving To New York’, the night ended with the group urging everyone to make use of the free bar.

‘The Wombats Proudly Present: This Modern Glitch’ is released on April 25 and the band are on tour through the UK in September.

The ‘Moving to New York’ band will head out on the road this autumn on a 14-day jaunt across the UK.

The tour will span October-September and will kick off in Cardiff on 21st September 2011 before finally drawing to a close at Manchester’s Apollo on 8th October.

The Wombats will release their new album, ‘This Modern Glitch’, on 25th April 2011. The band have already released three singles from the album in the past six months.

Radio 1 has confirmed that Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian, Calvin Harris and Franz Ferdinand are to headline this years Radio 1 Big Weekend due to take place in Swindon’s Lydiard Park on the weekend of 9 and 10 May.

Radio 1′s big weekend is the UK’s biggest free ticketed music festival and drawing over 500,000 applications for tickets in 2008.

Also joining the bill will be White Lies, The Enemy, The Wombats, Basement Jaxx, Friendly Fires, Alesha Dixon, Ne-Yo, Akon, Ladyhawke, King Blues, Florence And The Machine, Jack Penate, The Saturdays and Gossip. They join N-Dubz and Snow Patrol who were announced for the two day event last month.

BBC Radio 1 have adopted a variation of the free ticket ballot model for the release of the highly in demand 40,000 tickets with the ballot weighted in favour of those living in Swindon. Ticket registration will be open from Wednesday from 8.15am and until 10am on 20 April.

Tickets for the V Festival’s Chelmsford site have sold out in less than two hours this morning according to the events organisers.

Meanwhile the final few tickets available for the Weston Park site of the two site two day festival are quickly diminishing after they went on sale at 10am this morning (March 6).

The Killers will be continuning their currrent tour tommorow night at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (March 7). The Killers tour comes to a close with two back to back shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (March 9 & 10). Killers tickets are currently available.

Oasis will also be playing live in the UK this summer. The Oasis tour kicks off with three shows at Heaton Park in Manchester (June 4, 6 &7). Oasis play seven further dates including performances at Sunderland Stadium of Light (June 10), Cardiff Millennium Stadium (June 12), Murrayfield Stadium in Glasgow (June 17) and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena  (July 7). The Oasis tour comes to a close in London with four shows at Wembley Stadium (July 9, 11 & 12). Loads of Oasis tickets are still available.

Razorlight have recently announced a tour beginning in Glasgow King Tuts (May 2), Buxton Opera House (May 4), Leamington Spa The Assembly (May 5), London O2 Arena (May 7) and also Manchester MEN Arena (May 9). Razorlight tickets are available.

Snow Patrol continue their current tour tonight at Liverpool Echo Arena (March 6), then onto Cardiff International Arena (March and Nottingham Trent FM Arena (March 12). The second Katy Perry tour of 2009 starts at Brighton Dome (June 2) and features performances at Glasgow Barrowlands (June 6) and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (June 9 & 10). Loads of Katy Perry tickets are still available.

Lily Allen, kicks off her UK tour in March. The Lily Allen tour starts at the Glasgow O2 Academy on March 14. The Lily Allen also visits Bristol O2 Academy (March 18), Brighton Dome (March 20) and Birmingham O2 Academy (March 23). Elbow willplay tonight at Edinburgh Corn Exchange (March 6) continuing onto Blackpool Empress Ballroom (March 7), Llandudno Arena (March 9), Bristol Colston Hall (March 10), Plymouth Pavilions (March, 11) Newport Centre (March, 12) and finally the elbow tour will close at London Wembley Arena (March 14). A twelve date Pete Doherty tour kicks off at Cardiff University on March 13 and concludes at the Edinburgh Picture House on March 27. It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.

Oasis will be adding this V festival performance to their already extensive world tour which will see them return to the UK later this year including some epic shows at the City of Manchester stadium and Wembley.

Meanwhile The killers will be adding the V festival to a series of other summer festival headline appearances at Oxegen and T in the park. This follows a February and March UK tour for the busy and increasing popular American group.
