British singer Adele leads the way with three nominations in total, including Best Female Artists. The news comes as the September Adele tour resumed this week, following the singer’s illness.

Life’s Too Short will air this Autumn on BBC 2 and is about a dwarf talent agency. The show will also feature a host of stars from Johnny Depp to Helena Bonham Carter and Sandra Bullock.

Fans of Gervais are also hopeful that he will once again tour the UK with his stand up show, but as of yet no Ricky Gervais tour dates have been announced.

The data from Pollstar ranks the Top 20 Concert Tours each week, and sees the German rockers take 10th place with average box office gross per city of $750,953. U2 lead the table with an average $7,427,630 per concert.

Rammstein will hope to take this success to Europe when they tour throughout November, December, February and March. The UK leg of the tour kicks off on February 24th at London’s O2 Arena.

The tour is reported to have grossed £448 million which defeated the Rolling Stones previous record £558 million and will finish tonight at Moncton’s Magnetic Hill Music Festival.

The news that the tour has grossed this insane amount of money will  not please those who accuse U2 of evading taxes, despite the Edge’s denial of these evasion accusations.

U2 also headlined this year’s Glastonbury festival along with the likes of Mumford and Sons, Beyonce and the Chemical Brothers.

Following the latest U2 tour, the band are expected to start work on what will be their 13th studio album.

The band got the crowd to sing happy birthday to the former President of South Africa during the performance and a video of the spectacle was played to Mandela on the actual day of his birthday.

The performance at Philadelphia marked just another show on U2′s global 360 degrees tour. The band will go on to play 3 more shows in America, before the tour finally comes to an end.

The 37-year-old singer-songwriter released her long awaited fourth album, Year of the Wolf, on June 13th, and will tour in support of it in October. In a recent interview with Stereoboard, the singer confessed: “I love touring. It’s my favourite thing to be up on stage each night. It’s like being on a school trip with all your mates, but with no teachers.”

During their performance on the Friday night, a huge balloon bearing the slogan “U Pay Tax 2?” was dragged down by security, an act which many criticised Glastonbury organisers for.

Now The Edge has spoken out against recent criticism of U2 for tax evasion.

“For the record, U2 and the individual band members have a totally clean record with every jurisdiction to which they are required to pay tax and have never been and will never be involved in tax evasion,” Edge stated.

However despite these defiant comments from U2′s lead guitarist, many still regard U2 to be unfairly avoiding tax payment.

Michael Eavis (founder and curator) of Glastonbury has told the Times that the Festival has only got “another three or four years left” to the shock of the nation.

The revelation comes after the Festival has just celebrated over 40 years of success and triumph and literally changed festivals in Britain, and the world, forever.

In a shocking interview with the Times, Eavis revealed that ““It is a very scary business. Womad and Latitude are not selling out. Partly it’s economics, but there is a feeling that people have seen it all before.”

Eavis’s revelation has come despite the Festival enjoying a great year, with tickets selling out in hours and thousands bitterly disappointed to be unable get their hands on them. Performances from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Beyonce and U2 delivered certainly something special to those who were lucky enough to get wristbands, and yet it seems that Britain’s biggest music festival will not last forever.

His comments come as this Summer, many festivals are struggling to sell their quota of tickets, and it seems that Eavis believes this trough in the market will soon extend it’s way to the infamous Glastonbury Festival.
This lack of tickets sold has driven festival prices down. The most notable example of which comes from Latitude which takes place this weekend (15th July) where tickets are going for under half the original face value.

Taking place from Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd July, the festival features an eclectic range of artists in a setting that promises “No Sponsorship, No Branding.”

Friday, July 1st, sees a headline set from Eagles, famous for their classic song Hotel California. Supporting the American rock legends will be Death Cab for Cutie, Brandon Flowers and Bryan Ferry. In the Big Tent, The Human League are to headline, with support coming from artists including The Duke Spirit, The Walkmen and Ocean Colour Scene. Stornoway headline the Bread & Roses stage.

On Saturday, July 2nd, Morrissey will headline the main stage, a week after his Glastonbury show supporting U2. Also appearing on the main stage are Patti Smith, Lou Reed and Iggy & The Stooges. The Big Tent is headlined by Manu Chao La Ventura, supported by Graham Coxon, Gang of Four and Noisettes. Guillemots are top of the bill on the Bread & Roses stage, with Carl Barat also making an appearance.

Sunday July 3rd will see a two and a half hour headline set from pop legend Prince to close the event, in his first ever UK festival appearance. Larry Graham and Tinie Tempah will support. In the Big Tent, The Go! Team and The Pierces provide support for a Hot Chip DJ set. Young Knives headline the Bread & Roses set.

Currently, the 8pm slot on The Park Stage is listed as “Special Guests”, and The Sun are reporting that Radiohead are the band filling it. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and guitarist Johnny Greenwood appeared unannounced last year to mark the 40th Anniversary of the festival, again playing The Park Stage. Radiohead’s last official appearance at Glastonbury was in 2003, and that set and their 1997 headline set have been described as two of the best ever seen at the festival.

However, festival officials have yet to endorse any rumour. A spokesman said today that the secret act was still “unconfirmed”, while earlier in the week organiser Emily Eavis told NME, “We are still unsure of exactly who is turning up, mainly because it’s unconfirmed at the moment. I swear I have heard every rumour – even that Led Zeppelin are playing.”

Glastonbury kicked off in full today, with revellers in high spirits despite the vast amounts of mud covering the festival site. Tonight U2 headline the Pyramid stage, but face a protest as audience-members, frustrated at the band’s alleged tax avoidance, plan to float a huge bundle of fake cash across the crowd.

Reports from Rolling Stone suggest the release will include rare alternative versions of tracks as well as previously unseen footage of the band. Guitarist The Edge said, “There’s some very interesting alternative versions that we discovered of songs that wouldn’t have seen the light of day.” He said some of these alternatives were “like Achtung Baby out of focus.” U2′s manager had a more practical view, saying, “If you pile a lot of extra material and packaging and design work into a super-duper box set, there are people who will pay quite a lot for it, so you can budget it at a very high level and pump up the value.”

Organiser Michael Eavis told The Sun that he approached Morrissey after West had already turned the position down. Eavis said: “We were hoping to get Kanye West but he’s doing other stuff so we gave Morrissey a ring. He wasn’t bothered last time we asked him but he was very keen this year. It was a last-minute thing and tickets had already been sold before anyone knew anything about him so it was a nice little extra for us. I just hope he enjoys it as you never expect him to be wildly happy do you?”

Morrissey will appear before headliners U2 on the Pyramid Stage tonight (June 24th). Meanwhile, Radiohead are to play a surprise set on The Park Stage at 8pm.

Featuring more than 700 acts across more than 30 stages, watched by more than 175,000 people, the festival is renowned worldwide for its great atmosphere and legendary performances.

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The Other Stage will be headlined by Primal Scream (Friday), The Chemical Brothers (Saturday) and Queens of the Stone Age (Sunday). Also playing the festival’s second stage will be Mumford & Sons, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes and Bright Eyes.

The John Peel Stage will see DJ Shadow (Friday), Glasvegas (Saturday) and The Streets (Sunday) headline. Other acts playing the stage named in honour of the legendary Radio 1 DJ include The Coral, Battles, Robyn, Noah and the Whale and Warpaint.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

The performing arts festival, which takes place from Wednesday June 22nd until Sunday June 26th, will play host to over 700 acts and more than 175,000 people. Headlining this year will be U2, Coldplay and Beyoncé. Recent photos from the site reveal completion of all the stages, including new venue The Beat Hotel which will feature nightly DJs including Erol Alkan.

In other Glastonbury news, Wayne Rooney’s brother has announced their intention to go, following a message on twitter that read “Cnt wait 4 glasto with @Wayne Rooney. Boozeville yerrrrrrrrrrrrrr.” The Sun reports that this post was mysteriously deleted within minutes, however.

Final stage times for the festival were revealed this weekend, available on the official website. Performances will finish at 23.45 each night, apart from Sunday when licensing means performances will finish at 23.15.

In an effort to make the festival more environmentally friendly, organiser Michael Eavis has announced that more than 100,000 free recycled toilet rolls will be handed out to festival-goers. He said, “There will be more than enough for everyone and more importantly it will be the right kind of loo roll.” The news comes as part of a drive to boost recycling rates at the festival to 60%, from 49% last year. A recycling barn will also be present, staffed by 80 volunteers, for revellers to leave cans and other recyclable packages. The festival is taking place at the same time as Recycle Week. Worthy Farm, the site of the festival, has also become the UK’s largest privately owned solar power station, with the addition of more than 1000 solar panels.

Friday headliners U2 will be the victims of a tax protest aimed at highlighting the band’s alleged tax avoidance. Protesters Art Uncut will float a “huge bundle of fake cash” and hold up a large illuminated sign to say “Bono Pay Up.”

In a surprise phone call, Morissey, playing Friday, has asked to meet Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton. Revealing the news on Twitter, the footballer said, “Just had the best phone [call] of my life………..” In a separate tweet, he explained,”it was from Morissey’s personal security man asking if I would like to meet the great man @ Glastonbury? #heactuallyknowswhoiam”

U2′s drummer Larry Mullen told the sun that there are two different camps on how the set setlist should go “we’ve got a number of combinations and everyone seems to have a different opinion. ” ” There’s a ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’ camp or there is the more subtle approach where we could build slowly”

Forbes’ magazine published their annual “rich list” with U2 landing the number one position.

In hot pursuit were Bon Jovi and Elton John. The magazine ranks the 25 highest earning musicians over the last 12 months world wide.  Michael Buble pipped  Paul McCartney into the top five by a tiny 3 million. Justin Bieber became the youngest and richest kid with a whopping $53 million in the bank.

U2′s number one positioning is largely down to the success of their ’360′ world tour which put a £121 million into their purses this year. U2 are playing at Angel Stadium California tonight and tomorrow. U2 play Glastonbury in June.

The most expensive broadway musical to be made, Bono’s ‘Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark’ opens in New York tonight.

The musical has taken many incarnations before finally arriving in it’s current form. U2′s Bono admitted it hasn’t been an easy path and initially the musical ‘didn’t work’. There have been numerous changes from scripts, cast and songs. Bono said of the original production, it was “an amazing thing to behold. It was very innovative. There was magic about it. But the story didn’t work.”

Bono thinks it about “10 per cent away from where the show will be” eventually, but tonight he wants to attend the show with the rest of the public and see it through a fans eyes ” I think the harshest critics have been people involved with this show. I’m tired of that role. There are a few more things I want to do, but on Tuesday I’m going as a fan. I’m just going to give myself to it.”

Bono returns to his day job as a rock star for some summer festivals including Glastonbury.

As well as rehearsing for their forthcoming tour the band have been recording sessions with Danger Mouse and RedOne AND have had numerous side projects going on. Bono and guitarist The edge have been creating the soundtrack to their musical ‘Spiderman: Turn off the Dark”.

When it became clear they wouldn’t be able to make the album’s original deadline they called a meeting, bass player Adam Clayton confirmed “We had to have a meeting and look at the schedule to see if we could pick up any extra time to work on it, and we just realised that we couldn’t.To be honest, everyone was a bit gutted. But it was the only sensible decision”

Bono quite fancied writing a ‘club sounding’ record and leading the band in a new direction but Clayton thinks they will focus on what they do best “and our sessions with Danger Mouse came closest to that” rather than the working with Lady Gagas’s collaborator RedOne.

The album is now expected in the second half of 2012.

Buddy Holly would have been 75 years old this September. The singer died tragically in 1959 at the tender age 22. Florence and The Machine have compiled 19 songs covered by varying eclectic  artists from Paul McCartney to Kid Rock and have included their own cover of Buddy’s  ’Not Fade Away’.

The Album is expected to be released near the anniversary of Buddy Hollys birthday in September, the official date is still to be announced.

U2 frontman Bono got caught in a downpour on Tuesday forcing him to hitchhike. He was rescued by Canadian Ice Hockey star Gilbert Brule.

Gilbert Brule  plays for Edmonter Oilers and recognized U2′s frontman instantly but his girlfriend wasn’t convinced. After some persuasion they turned the car around and collected Bono much to everyones delight.

U2 were performing a day later in Edmonton and Gilbert was cordially invited, Bono then told the crowd: ”I like ice hockey, because people who play ice hockey are the kind of people who pick up hitchhikers. I know this from personal experience.”

Muse are supporting the Irish legends on the current South American leg of the ’360′ tour and both has just finished playing the city’s Morumbi Stadium, when they decided to pop into the small Bar Secreto.

Bono and Larry Mullen appeared on stage together in the club to perform a cover of Talking Head’s ‘Psycho Killer’, and were joined by Muse drummer, Dom Howard.

The Edge then proceeded to take over vocal duties, and sung renditions of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Miss You’ and David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’.

Football legend Ronaldo also performed ‘I Can’t Get No Satisfaction’ by the Stones at the bar in Sao Paulo.

The news follows on from U2′s recent smashing of the ‘Biggest Tour Ever’ record, with the Irish band having surpassed the £340 million ($558m) gross mark set by the Rolling Stones back in 2007.

The ‘Single Ladies’ star is thought to have recruited husband Jay-Z and friend Kanye West to appear on stage with her during the final performance slot of the festival’s three-day lineup, reports The Mirror.

During his headline slot at last year’s Isle of Wight Festival, Jay-Z brought on West whilst Beyonce watched in the wings.

It has also been suggested that showbiz couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow could take to the stage with Beyoncé on June 26.

The other headliners for the festival held on Worthy Farm are confirmed to be U2 and Coldplay.

The Irish supergroup surpassed the magic $558 million (£341m) mark at their recent Sao Paolo gig, following sales of over seven million tickets since the tour began in July 2009.

According to Billboard Boxscore, the 360° tour plays to an average of 63,000 people a show, and rakes in $6.4 million (£3.9 million) a night.

Last August, U2′s manager Paul McGuinness predicted the tour would break all records, saying: “This tour by the end of this year will be the biggest grossing music tour by anyone of all time, and we will still have another 30 shows next year, 20-30 shows next year.”

The massive tour is due to end in July at Canada’s Magnetic Music Hill Musical Festival. A month earlier, the band will make their bow on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage when they will headline the festival alongside Coldplay and Beyonce.

The Beady Eye frontman has put his hard living rock star ways behind him ahead of his 40th birthday next year and hinted he is now seeking religious guidance in his life.

Referring to U2′s lead singer, he added: “And I’m not turning into f***ing Bono. It’s private. But I’m connected, man. To something.
I’m a spiritual kinda guy. I’m not wearing a sheet and walking down the street banging a tambourine.
“In my pram I was a rock star. But I’m older now. I don’t wanna grow up like a d**k. I don’t want to get to 40 and embarrass my kids”

Liam’s rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle saw him loose teeth in a 2002 bar brawl, brand the England soccer team “gay boys” and repeatedly fall out with his brother and former bandmate Noel, causing their band Oasis to split – has also settled into a healthy lifestyle and now enjoys ten mile runs, golf and a healthy diet.

Liam – who has daughter Molly, 13, and son Lennon, 11, from a previous relationship, as well as son Gene, nine, with wife Nicole Appleton – added: “I don’t want to sound like a hippy but it’s great. I run. World to myself. Birds. Trees. No hassle from idiots.

“With golf, I love making proper contact with that ball. I’m still on the fish. Sardines or salmon. Salad. I feel good. It’s only the cigarettes that really stand in me way.”

“We’ve put down a few ideas, but we don’t know how many will end up on there,” he told Billboard. “They have a very special way of working. A song is never done until the day before it comes out almost, so you never know. They’re always experimenting, so it’s not like, ‘OK, we’re finished’. It’s still an ongoing process.”

He continued: “Bono described it as futuristic. U2 going sci-fi, or something. That’s how he described it, but I don’t know.”

Asked about his approach to making music with the band, he admitted: “I’m a guitar player, so it was just me and Bono and Edge playing guitar, exchanging melodies. We were just like musicians jamming. I loved it.”

Mercury, like many other labels, have lost  money on physically released singles in 2010 and have now said that they will only release them on ”rare occasions”. Physical singles now only provide less than 1% of total weekly single sales, with digital downloads fastly becoming the main source for music lovers.

However, sales of vinyl records increased last year as CD sales fell.

Elton John’s 1997 Candle In The Wind, a tribute to Princess Diana is still the UK’s biggest ever selling single and the second biggest single of all time, behind Bing Crosby’s White Christmas.

The $65 million project has suffered several injuries to cast members and now director Julie Taymor would be leaving the trouble-plagued musical, which features songs composed by U2′s Bono and The Edge.

Bono and The Edge issued a statement, saying, “Julie is a truly gifted and imaginative director. This is an epic ride, and the standing ovations we have seen from the preview audiences have confirmed our absolute faith in the project.

“We are listening and learning and, as a result, we have a couple of new songs we are very very excited about putting into the mix. All of us on the creative team are committed to taking ‘Spider-Man’ to the next level. We are confident it will reach its full potential and when it does, it will open.”

The band’s 2010 appearance was cancelled after Bono suffered a back injury, and they were widely expected to be confirmed for this year’s event.

U2 will top the bill on the Pyramid Stage at the event in Somerset on Friday June 24, joining Beyoncé and Coldplay at the festival.

Glastonbury tickets are currently sold out, but U2 tickets are available for shows in the US and Australia this summer.

Beyonce will join other acts currently pencilled in to play the 2011 Glastonbury Festival once they have been officially confirmed. Acts rumoured to be joining the lineup include Coldplay, Arcade Fire and U2.

Fans will, of course, remember the 2008 Glastonbury Festival where Beyonce’s husband, Jay-z headlined and shocked the fans by playing the Oasis track ‘Wonderwall’.

Glastonbury 2011 takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from Wednesday 22nd  to Sunday 26th June.

Whilst Glastonbury tickets have completely sold out, Festival tickets for some of this summer’s top events including Reading, Leeds, V Festival, Wireless, Bestival and many more are available now.

U2 tickets are still available for shows at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on the 8th and 9th December, Sydney ANZ Stadium on the 13th and 14th December, and the Subiaco oval in Perth on the 18th and 19th December.

U2 are all but confirmed to fill one of the headline slots after being unable to perform at last year’s event. Kylie Minogue is another act strongly rumoured to top the bill, and now The Rolling Stones have emerged as possibly the third and final headline act.

Although Glastonbury tickets are sold out, a second release is expected to be announced in the coming months. Tickets are only available through Seetickets, once customers have registered at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk.

Speculation is strong that U2 will fill one of the headline slots after being unable to perform at last year’s event. Kylie Minogue is another name set to be confirmed, with acts such as Beyoncé, Coldplay, Madonna, Prince and Radiohead also being discussed.

Many were left disappointed to miss out on their Glastonbury tickets, but will be given another opportunity when the second release is announced in the coming months.

In fact, it only makes us wonder why neither of those collaborations have happened. In the meantime though, at least we have the Script to keep us happy.

For those of us like U2 and unable to make it to Glastonbury, it might be worth heading to Denmark next weekend. Roskilde Festival takes place between July 1-4 2010, and offers an excellent range of artists on its lineup.

The headline acts are Gorillaz (of course), Danish band Nephew, The Prodigy as well as a rare appearance from innovative American musician Prince, who is sure to play all the best-loved songs from his outstanding career.

Roskilde Festival Tickets are on sale now, but with only weekend tickets still available you’ll have to be quick!

Gorillaz will most certainly put on a tremendous show, but for those not lucky enough to be at Glastonbury, there is still a chance to get Gorillaz tickets.

After another festival slot at Roskilde in Denmark, Albarn and co. will set out on a September UK tour, with live dates pencilled in at Glasgow SECC, Birmingham NIA, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Manchester MEN Arena, London O2 Arena and Dublin O2 Arena.

Gorillaz’ spring dates did not have a support act, but given that recent Gorillaz live performances have included guest appearances from the likes of De La Soul, Mos Def and Kano, that is unlikely to be noticed!

Tickets are still on sale for the face value price of £45 for all the concerts in England and Scotland, with the Dublin date currently trading for €58 from Ticketmaster – which equates to £51.

Robert Plant came to prominence as the lead singer of one of the most legendary rock bands of all time, Led Zeppelin. He has since gone on to forge a very successful solo career, and opportunities to see him perform live are scarce.

Although unconfirmed, the tickets are thought to become available very soon. There was talk earlier this month that Robert Plant along with the rest of Led Zeppelin would have been next in line to replace U2 at Glastonbury this year, had Gorillaz not accepted the invitation.

The Stadium is the preferred choice for all huge music acts as it provides a picturesque and historical backdrop to any concert. The seminal Live Aid event was held here in 1985 and rock gods such as U2, Guns N Roses and Oasis have sold the place out on countless occasions.

For any football fan, Wembley is the ultimate place to visit whether for music or sport and many touring acts book gigs here just so they can say ‘I played at Wembley’, albeit in a musical sense.

Green Day are the next to play at the iconic venue with the ‘American Idiot’ rockers pitching up this Saturday – June 19. There are over 1000 Green Day tickets left with the cheapest tickets in Level 5 being sold by Seatwave at £33. each. Standing tickets are available via both Play and Viagogo from £45 while Level 1 seating will set you back £375 with Seatwave.

Muse tickets are available for both their dates at Wembley Stadium in September. Tickets are available from £23 with See Tickets while Gigantic have the next cheapest seats at £45.

If you want to watch Muse in the lap of luxury you can get your hands on a VIP Club Wembley Diamond Package but you could pay anywhere up to £500 with Seatwave, Viagogo and GetMeIn.

Gorillaz tickets are available for performances at Glasgow SECC on Wednesday 8th September, Birmingham NIA on Friday 10th September, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 11th September, Manchester MEN Arena on Sunday 12th September, two dates at London O2 Arena on 14th and 15th September and Dublin O2 Arena on 22nd September.

Gorillaz support acts for the September UK tour are yet to be announced, but expect some big names after appearances from Bobby Womack, De La Soul, Shaun Ryder and Super Furry Animals songwriter Gruff Rhys at the band’s Roundhouse shows in April.

Gorillaz are set to perform material from their latest album, Plastic Beach, as well as earlier hits such as DARE, Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc.

The full Glastonbury line-up was announced today, and as expected, the festival will showcase a host of huge names from the world of music. The festival’s 40th anniversary will see Muse, U2 and Stevie Wonder headline the infamous Pyramid Stage, with acts such as Snoop Dogg, Dizzee Rascal, Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys,  Hot Chip and the XX also set to appear across the weekend.

Fans missing out on Glastonbury tickets still have the chance to see some of their favourite artists performing across the UK.

As well as appearing at Glastonbury, Stevie Wonder will not only be headlining this year’s Hard Rock Calling Festival at Hyde Park, whilst Muse are set to perform two huge shows at Wembley Arena this September.

Fans of Faithless will be able to see the dance act at various venues across the UK this May, whilst Florence and the Machine are also set for a UK tour in the same month.

Jackson Browne tickets are available for his appearance at this year’s Hampton Court Festival and acts such as La Roux, The Magic Numbers, Ellie Goulding, LCD Soundsystem and MGMT still have tickets available for their upcoming UK tours.

In an interview with LiveDaily, one of the Black Eyed Peas insisted that they are going to take a much more professional approach to their next tour. The rapper revealed the Black Eyed Peas will be rehearsing their live shows for the first time in their career as well as paying much more attention to overall production of the live shows.

The Black Eyed Peas tour kicks off in 2010 and the rap act will be playing four massive shows in the UK next May.
