Bombay Bicycle Club headline Underage Festival with a very memorable set

Bombay Bicycle Club headlined this year’s Underage Festival with a very memorable set which included tracks from all three of their records (see set list below). The performance marked a pivotal stage in the career of the band in which they have progressed to an act who can headline festivals.

Field Day stage times confirmed

Stage times have been revealed for this weekend’s Field Day Festival in London. The event will take place at Victoria Park on Saturday 6th August and will feature performances from the likes of Wild Beasts, Warpaint, The Coral, Villagers, James Blake and Anna Calvi.

Underage Festival stage times revealed

The stage times for this weekend’s Underage Festival have been revealed, with Bombay Bicycle Club set to headline the Main Stage. The event will take place exclusively for people under the age of 18 at Victoria Park in London on Friday 5th August. Jannelle Monae, Devlin, Miles Kane, Labrinth and Viva Brother have all been confirmed for the one-day festival.

Cloud Control reveal autumn UK tour

Cloud Control have announced that they are to embark on an extensive UK tour in September and October.

The Australian indie-rock band will play fourteen dates, beginning with a show at Exeter’s Cavern on September 27th, and ending on October 12th at London’s Scala. Their debut album, Bliss Release, was released in May, and received universal critical acclaim. Since forming, they have supported bands including Supergrass, Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend.

Kings Of Leon nominated for Best, and Worst band at NME Awards

Kings Of Leon have been nominated for Best International Band at this year’s NME Awards, as well as being put forward for Worst Band. The group will go up against the likes of Arcade Fire, The Drums and Vampire weekend in the Best Band category, whilst finding themselves going head to head with JLS, 30 Seconds To Mars and The Jonas Brothers as the worst act of last year.

Kings Of Leon released their latest album in 2010, Come Around Sundown, which included hit single Radioactive. They sold out a huge summer how at London’s Hyde Park, whilst also performing at UK arenas throughout December.

Love them or hate them, Kings Of Leon will be returning to the UK live scene in 2011, with a series of outdoor summer shows. Kings Of Leon tickets are available for concerts at Slane Castle, Coventry Ricoh Arena, Sunderland Stadium Of Light, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Hyde Park in London and Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

Vampire Weekend tickets are still available for two shows in London this week, after the band kicked off their current UK tour a few days ago. Vampire Weekend will perform two shows at Alexandra Palace on the 2nd and 3rd February, full details of all remaining shows are as follows:

Arcade Fire tickets now on sale for Dublin shows

Arcade Fire tickets are now available for the Canadian band’s two shows in Dublin this year. The band will perform at The O2 arena on the 5th and 6th December and it has been confirmed that Vampire Weekend and Devendra Banhart will be the support act for both dates – with one further opener to be announced.

Arcade fire will also be performing 6 dates in the UK as well as the two Ireland shows, starting with two performances at London O2 Arena on 1st and 2nd December. They will also appear at Birmingham LG Arena on December 8th, Cardiff Arena on December 9th, Manchester Central on December 11th and Glasgow SECC & Clyde Auditorium on December 12th.

The band have recently released their third album, The Suburbs, and will be sure to showcase new tracks at the shows, as well as favourites from first two albums Funeral and Neon Bible.

Arcade Fire support act announced for 2010 UK tour dates

Canadian collective Arcade Fire announced a UK tour last week to take place in December 2010, and tickets to all live performances has been selling incredibly fast. Having recently topped the UK Album Charts with third album The Suburbs, this ought to come as no surprise.

Now the band have revealed who the support act for the live dates will be – Devendra Banhart. The American singer-songwriter maintained a prolific output of his psychedelic folk throughout his career, and at the age of 29 has already released seven albums, eleven EPs and multiple collaborations. He is sure to draw on his extensive catalogue to put on a wonderful show.

Vampire Weekend will also open for the band on the recently announced Dublin O2 Arena dates – which go on sale on August 20th 2010 – but due to their own headline tour schedule will not be able to join Arcade Fire in London.

Vampire Weekend tickets are now on sale for the band’s recently confirmed show at London’s Alexandra Palace on Friday 3rd December. The show was announced earlier this week due to high demand for tickets for shows throughout their November and December UK tour.

The band have recently released their second album, Contra, and pulled a huge crowd when headlining Latitude Festival in July.

Vampire Weekend announce new live concert at London Alexandra Palace

Vampire Weekend’s brand of catchy indie rock with world music influences has won them plenty of fans, and second album Contra has built on the success of their eponymous debut.

In addition to their UK tour dates already on the horizon in autumn 2010, the New York band have had to announce a second live date at Alexandra Palace due to demand. They will play the prestigious Lonodn venue on December 3rd, and it will signal the end of their concert schedule for 2010.

Tickets for this date go on sale on Friday, but Vampire Weekend tickets are available now for all their other gigs – a full list of which is below:

Vampire Weekend have become hugely popular in the UK in the last two years. Their eponymous debut album was a plethora of genres – pop, indie rock and African rhythms were all thrown in with great aplomb, and the resulting hits M79, Oxford Comma, A-Punk and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa were all excellent examples of their innovative charm.

Eminem retains UK number one album spot with Recovery

Eminem fought off Scissor Sisters to retain the number one spot in the UK Album Chart for a second week. The Detroit rapper – also known as Slim Shady – has achieved an incredible amount of success throughout his stellar career, with approximately 80 million records sold and eleven Grammy awards won, and another UK number one only goes to demonstrate his continued popularity worldwide.

Eminem will headline T In The Park in Scotland this summer, as well as playing at Oxegen Festival just outside Dublin.

T In The Park tickets are on sale now, and Eminem will be joined by Muse, Kasabian, Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend and The Prodigy amongst others. Day tickets are currently available from £104, while weekend tickets will set festival fans back at least £169.

Tom Jones added to Latitude Festival line-up

Tom Jones has been announced as a surprise name for this year’s Latitude Festival. The veteran singer will perform on Thursday July 15th at midnight In The Woods and is expected to play tracks from his forthcoming new album, Praise and Blame.

The festival runs from the 15th to 18th July and will be headlined by Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. There will also be appearances across the weekend from the likes of Mumford & Sons, James, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, The Temper Trap, The Maccabees and Laura Marling.

Whilst they may be a part of South African culture that has made the World Cup unique viewing, at a festival they would inevitably be a distraction from the music, and so T In The Park have taken decisive steps to ensure there will be no such trouble.

T In The Park has elected to ban vuvuzelas. Ticket holders will not be allowed to bring the droning instrument to the festival, while vendors will also be prohibited from selling them.

It means that fans can watch the likes of Muse, Eminem, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend and Jay-Z without fearing an invasion of insects, and T In The Park tickets suddenly seem that little bit more of an attractive option. Weekend tickets are on sale from £200 through Play.com, while day tickets currently trade from a price of £90 from Viagogo.

Florence and the Machine debut new material ahead of Latitude headline appearance

Florence and the Machine were one of the hits of last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, drawing one of the biggest crowds in the history of the festival’s ‘Other’ Stage.

Florence performed new singles Strangeness and Charm, and Heavy In Your Arms, a song recorded for the latest Twilight film. As well as these tracks, the crowd were treated to a breathtaking cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain.

Florence and the Machine will be headlining Latitude Festival on Friday 16th July and music fans can expect much more of the same magic showcased at Glastonbury. Belle And Sebastian announce third album and US tour with UK live dates to come

Belle And Sebastian are one of the most critically acclaimed bands to have come out of Britain in the last twenty years, and the Scottish group are behind brilliant songs such as The Boy With The Arab Strap, It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career and Step Into My Office, Baby are much loved by their fans.

They have recently announced a tour of the United States to take place this autumn, which comes as they complete work on their eighth studio album. However, what will be more of note to UK fans is that the official band website reveals that there will be news of UK dates to come later this year.

Those fans that cannot wait until then will have a chance to see the Belle And Sebastian at Latitude Festival. The Glaswegians headline Saturday July 17th 2010 above Crystal Castles, The Maccabees, James, Frank Turner, Corinne Bailey Rae and the xx, with many more acts across the three days.

Vampire Weekend: Gorillas + Basement Jaxx = Rock n’ Roll

Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig was recently asked by the Daily Star what the most rock n’ roll thing he had ever done was. The journalist almost certainly expected something of the ilk of throwing a television set out the window, or getting suitably inebriated with Amy Winehouse et al.

Koenig had something rather different in mind.

He recalled a time when his band played alongside Basement Jaxx in Sweden, and as the dance music kings began to play Where’s Your Head At?, Vampire Weekend donned gorilla suits and jumped around like maniacs.

Pretty rock n’ roll indeed.

Vampire Weekend are one of the three headline acts to be performing at Latitude Festival in Suffolk this year, alongside Florence & The Machine and Belle & Sebastian. Vampire Weekend will close out the Sunday night of the festival, and Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now. Vampire Weekend to open this year’s Eden Sessions

Vampire Weekend have been confirmed as the opening act at this year’s Eden Sessions at The Eden Project in Cornwall. The popular US group played at the event two years ago and will return this summer on June 24th.

Vampire Weekend join previously announced headline acts Jack Johnson, Mika, Doves, Calvin Harris and Paolo Nutini.

A host of names have been added to this year’s T in the Park line up, including Babyshambles, Julian Casablancas and Ash. T in the Park takes place in Balado, Kinross-shire from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th July, 2010 and boasts a strong line-up, with names such as Muse, Eminem, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend and Jay-Z having previously been confirmed.

Arcade Fire have been confirmed to headline this year’s Oxegen festival in Dublin. The group are set to play on the first night of the event, which runs from July 9-11 at Punchestown racecourse in Naas.

Fatboy Slim has also been confirmed to play at the festival, joining previously announced acts such as Eminem, Muse, Jay-Z, The Black Eyed Peas, Kasabian, The Prodigy, Florence and the Machine, Paolo Nutini, Faithless, Stereophonics, David Guetta and Vampire Weekend.

Pendulum to headline Clash Arena at RockNess

Pendulum have been confirmed as the Friday night headliners in the Clash Arena at this year’s RockNess festival. The Aussie ravers have been announced as the latest big-name act at this summer’s event in Clune Farm, Inverness.

Joe Jonas from the massive group The Jonas Brothers was part of an unlikely combination of cameos in Vampire Weekend’s new video Giving Up The Gun, which also included rapper Lil Jon, the RZA from Wu-Tang Clan and Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

He is filmed playing tennis in Pat Cash-esque costume with the other stars, and so much did he love the headband he wore in the video, he kept it!

Vampire Weekend confirmed as RockNess Lineup begins to take shape

Vampire Weekend have been added to the lineup for RockNess festival at Loch Ness this June. The festival, which only took place for the first time in 2006, has grown in popularity every year since its conception, and calls itself “the only festival with its own monster”, due to the much-debated presence of the loch’s very own Nessie!

Editors to play Isle of Wight Festival

A host of new acts have been confirmed for this summer’s Isle of Wight festival. Noah & the Whale and The Brilliant Things are among the acts who will play at the Big Top Arena on the Saturday, while Editors and The Courteeners will take to the main stage the following day.

Suzi Quatro and Juiette Lewis are set to headline ‘ladies night’ at the opening day of this year’s Isle of Wight Festival. The special evening, which takes place in the Big Top arena, will also feature the likes of Marina and the Diamonds, Mini Viva and Woman.

Vampire Weekend tour kicks off tonight

Vampire Weekend kick off their UK tour tonight with a performance at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Sea. They are celebrating the release of their second abum ‘Contra,’ which shot into the UK top-ten album chart after its release last month.

The Vampire Weekend tour will include visits to Cambridge Corn Exchange, Manchester Apollo, the O2 Academy Birmingham and many more top venues across the UK. Florence and the Machine join Isle of Wight lineup

Florence and the Machine, N-Dubz and The Hold Steady have been added to the line-up of the Isle of Wight Festival 2010. Florence Welsh and her band are due on the main stage on the Friday night, just before the arrival of Jay-Z, while N-Dubz will appear on the Saturday. The summer event runs for three days from June 11 to June 13.

It all adds to a diverse line-up, which already features the likes of The Strokes, Biffy Clyro and Vampire Weekend.

Muse to headline Glastonbury

Muse and Stevie Wonder are both due to headline at this year’s Glastonbury, festival organiser Michael Eavis has revealed. Eavis was speaking at the Event Production Show in London yesterday and confirmed Muse for the Saturday (June 26), and said that in all likelihood Stevie Wonder would headline the following night (June 27). U2, Hot Chip, Dizzee Rascal, Jack Johnson and Vampire Weekend are also set to play at the Somerset event.

Muse are set to perform three huge live shows in the UK this September. Muse will play one show at the Lancashire County Cricket Club in Manchester (September 4) before two dates at Wembley Stadium (Sep 10 & 11).

Muse up for NME Hat-trick

Muse have been nominated for three awards at the 2010 Shockwaves NME Awards.

The nominees for this year’s Shockwaves NME Awards were announced last night (January 25) and we can confirm that Muse have been put forward for Best Album (for ‘The Resistance’), Best Band and Best Album Artwork.

Other nominees include Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend, Lily Allen and Oasis.

The 2010 Shockwaves NME Awards is set to take place at the Brixton O2 Academy on February 24.

As well as playing this year’s Big Day Out Festival in Sydney and a series of massive shows across Europe this year, Muse are set to perform three huge live shows in the UK in September. Vampire Weekend joke about favourite drink

Vampire Weekend have bemoaned the lack of the drink Horchata in London after the close of their whistle stop tour last night. Playing at the Rough Trade East record shop in the capital, the band joked with the crowd about the rice drink that inspired the opening track of their latest album ‘Contra.’

“It’s about a drink that’s very hard to find in London,” frontman Ezra Koenig told the crowd as the band performed ‘Horchata’. “That’s a damn shame!”

Vampire Weekend aren’t gone from the UK long, as they will be back in early February for a massive UK tour.

Vampire Weekend look set to play the Friday night at Glastonbury this summer, festival organiser Emily Eavis has divulged. On her Twitter page, Eavis wrote “YES, FRIDAY 25th?” when a fan asked about the band. She later wrote, ‘They have already been booked I promise!’

It completes a hectic week for the indie rockers, after the release of their second album ‘Contra’ on Monday. To celebrate its release they will shortly be embarking on a UK tour.

Organiser’s of Lollapalooza 2009 have confirmed Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Jane’s Addiction and Beastie Boys as headliners for this years summer festival.

Also included on what promises to be one of the world’s premium summer 2009 line ups are Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, Lou Reed, Passion Pit, Glasvegas, White Lies and Chairlift

The Loollapalooza festival is widely regarded as one of the United States premiere festivals for music fans attracting a broad line up mainstream, emerging and cult acts.

The festival which is due to take place in Chicago’s Grant Park in Chicago this coming August 7, 8 and 9 will also host Animal Collective, Band Of Horses, Of Montreal, Ben Folds, Fleet Foxes, Silversun Pickups, Kaiser Chiefs, Crystal Castles and Santigold will also perform as will Lykke Li, Friendly Fires, Bat For Lashes, and new york rockers The Virgins.

This years NME award nomination’s are dominated by former britpop legends Oasis and current Usrock royalty Kings of Leon. Oasis have been nominated for seven awards, including best band, best live band, best album and best video while Kings of Leon are in line for four statues, in the categories of best international band and best live band.

Early line up for Great Escape Festival revealed

Metronomy, The Golden Silvers and a host of hotly-tipped acts including The Soft Pack, VV Brown, The Big Pink and Passion Pit are to perform at the three-day event in Brighton.

The new music festival, the UK’s answer to Austin’s SXSW festival, will see more than 300 artists performing across 34 venues from 14-16 May.

Last year The Ting Tings and Vampire Weekend played at the event.

Other acts confirmed for this year’s line-up include Kissy Sell Out, Esser, Future Of The Left, Micachu, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Chapman Family, Johnny Foreigner, Dananakroyd, Yves Klein Blue, John Steel Blues Band and The Joy Formidable.

Tickets for the event, which is now in its fourth year, are currently on sale now.

In previous years, The Great Escape has helped to break acts such as The Klaxons, The Kooks, Glasvegas, Gossip, Adele, Jack Penate, Gallows, Kate Nash, Sam Sparro and Crystal Castles.
