White Lies support act confirmed for Wembley Arena show

White Lies have confirmed that their support act for their upcoming Wembley Arena show will be London-based rock band, The Duke Spirit. The band are set to perform at the venue, their biggest headline show to date, on 17th December.

The group will also play gigs at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, Manchester O2 Apollo and Glasgow O2 Academy this December, before headlining Granite Rocks at Aberdeen Exhibition Centre on New Years Eve. White Lies released their second album, Ritual, earlier this year, and are rumoured to be readying a third studio album for 2012.

The full list of stage times has been confirmed for next weekend’s Leeds Festival.

The three-day event is held at Bramham Park from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August. Friday will see Muse headline the main stage, whilst on Saturday My Chemical Romance take the top spot, and Sunday sees a joint headline position shared by The Strokes and Pulp.

The full stage times have been released for this weekend’s Reading Festival.

Taking place from this Friday (August 26th) to Sunday (August 28th) and will see headline performances from My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp, and Muse will close the festival. The festival has music kicking off from 11.00-11.30 each day.

One week until T in the Park kicks off

Next Friday (July 8th), T in the Park begins in Scotland featuring arguably one of the best festival line-ups of the summer.

The weekend features headline performances from Arctic Monkeys (July 8th), Coldplay (July 9th) and Foo Fighters (July 10th). Also appearing on the main stage across the weekend are Plan B, Jessie J, Beyonce, The Script, My Chemical Romance and Pulp.

Headlining the Radio 1/NME stage are Pendulum (July 8th), The Strokes (July 9th) and Deadmau5 (July 10th). The stage also plays host to White Lies, Jimmy Eat World, Friendly Fires, Beady Eye and Tinie Tempah.

In the infamous King Tut’s Wah Wah tent will be headliners 2manydjs (July 8th), Primal Scream (July 9th) and Calvin Harris (July 10th), with Tom Jones, Chase & Status and Brandon Flowers just a few of the great acts also performing.

T in the Park recently won the coveted Festival of the Year Award, and is renowned for its consistently incredible line-ups and unique excited atmosphere.

UK summer festival guide – V Festival, Reading and Leeds, Bestival and more

Although Glastonbury has now ended, there are still plenty of high quality festivals featuring some incredible line ups still to come.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

Glastonbury 2011: Preview and live streaming

The world’s most famous festival, The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, kicks off tomorrow.

Featuring more than 700 acts across more than 30 stages, watched by more than 175,000 people, the festival is renowned worldwide for its great atmosphere and legendary performances.

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The Other Stage will be headlined by Primal Scream (Friday), The Chemical Brothers (Saturday) and Queens of the Stone Age (Sunday). Also playing the festival’s second stage will be Mumford & Sons, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes and Bright Eyes.

The John Peel Stage will see DJ Shadow (Friday), Glasvegas (Saturday) and The Streets (Sunday) headline. Other acts playing the stage named in honour of the legendary Radio 1 DJ include The Coral, Battles, Robyn, Noah and the Whale and Warpaint.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

Kings of Leon honour Ryan Dunn at London show

International giants Kings of Leon honoured Jackass star Ryan Dunn during the first of their two headline shows in London’s Hyde Park.

The band asked the audience to raise their glasses to Dunn, with frontman Caleb Followill asking the audience to toast “a friend of ours who’s passed away. This is for Ryan.” The band then played the hit Use Somebody. Dunn died when he crashed his Porsche, travelling 130mph in a 55mph zone.

Kings of Leon play the second of their two Hyde Park shows tonight, featuring support from Paul Weller and White Lies. The band then head to Edinburgh for a single show on Sunday, before moving to the US to play two concerts there.

Kings of Leon ready for Hyde Park shows

International superstars Kings of Leon descend on Hyde Park this week to play two huge gigs sure to impress.

The Tennessee four-piece, of three brothers and a cousin, are playing two shows in London this Wednesday (June 22nd) and Thursday (June 23rd). The gigs will feature support from former The Jam frontman Paul Weller, White Lies, Zac Brown Band and The Walkmen. The band are touring following the release of fifth album Come Around Sundown, playing only a handful of UK dates. With crowd favourites such as Use Somebody and Sex On Fire, as well as the world-class support acts, these shows are sure to be special. The band play a final UK date in Edinburgh on Sunday (26th June).

Kanye West announced as headline act for Coke Live Festival

Kanye West has been confirmed to close Poland’s Coke Live Festival in August.

Rapper Kanye West joins the Kooks, White Lies and Interpol at the festival. He makes one appearance in the UK in this summer at The Big Chill Festival.

Poland’s festival is held in Krakow at the Aviation Museum Ground on the 19th and 20th of August.

White Lies have confirmed three extra dates in Wolverhampton, Manchester and Glasgow.

The band are supporting Kings Of Leon in Hyde park at the end of the month, then onto Glastonbury, Itunes festival, Reading and Leeds festivals before starting their own tour on the 17th of December at London’s Wembley Arena.

The new dates see the tour start at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall on December the 12th.

Paul Simon and Foo Fighters added to iTunes Festival line-up

Foo Fighters and Paul Simon have been added to the list of acts due appear at this year’s series of free shows at the iTunes festival.

Paul Simon will open the month-long festival on the 1st of July at Camden’s Roundhouse venue, while the Foo Fighters are due to appear on the 11th. They join previously confirmed acts which include Beady Eye who take to the stage on the 3rd, current UK chart topper Adele (7th) and White Lies who are booked for the 13th.

The iTunes festival was initiated in 2007 when the likes of Travis, Stereophonics and Amy Winehouse appeared. In 2008 the event was expanded and staged at the KOKO in London, before moving to its present home in 2009 when Oasis, Bloc Party and Kasabian were amongst the performers.

The Kooks and White Lies confirmed for Coke Festival

The Kooks and White Lies have been announced to play this year’s Coke Live Music Festival in Poland.

The two-day event is to take place on August 19 and August 20 at the Aviation Museum Ground in Krakow. Other acts that have been confirmed include Interpol and You Me At Six.

In the five years since its debut, the organisers have attempted to transform the event into a classic summer festival. “The event is extending its range with guitar music and is changing its profile from a city festival to a classic summer festival,” says Mikołaj Ziółkowski of Alter Art.

The festival has previously played host to Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance.

The Kooks recently revealed that they are going to let fans decide where they perform in the UK this summer.

Ringo Starr gives away drum kit

The former Beatles star met with 17-year-old Alexx Kipp – who also suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome – at the Los Angeles’ Hard Rock Cafe as part of a new partnership between the restaurant chain and the Make-A-Wish Foundation last week and gave Alexx a black and white set of Ludwig drums, before playing on the kit with him.

Alexx – who has been playing drums since he was eight – had wanted to meet Ringo for several years, and last year his family approached the charity to try and grant him his wish.

His father Charles Kipp said: “Alexx came to me one morning and he said, ‘Dad, I had a dream last night and I met Ringo.’

“This was before we knew it was going to happen. About a week later we got the call. I told him, ‘It looks like your dream came true.’ ”

Alexx’s next goal is to learn the Beatles hit ‘I Am The Walrus’ and he was given some advice by Ringo.

According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, Ringo told him: “I get the easy bit. I come, I say hi, we hang out, we have a bit of fun.

“In the band I was in, we knew when we’d done the take, because it just feels good. It’s like golf: When you hit that ball right, you know. You feel it – you feel the connection. And connecting is good.”

The musical legend also spoke about his ongoing involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation – who accept requests from children with life-threatening illnesses and try and make them happen – admitting it gives him a different perspective on life.

He said: “It’s huge. It puts you in your place. You think you’ve got a cold – you’re all, ‘Oh, what about me?’ Then you help these kids. You think of the families. I’ve got children too, and it’s got to be hard.”

Ringo has designed a T-shirt which will be sold throughout Hard Rock International locations, with proceeds benefiting his Lotus Foundation, which directly supports Make-A-Wish.

Chase & Status added to iTunes Festival bill

Chase and Status are the latest act to be confirmed for the month long event at the Camden venue.

The band have said that its ‘exciting’ to be partof this year’s line-up that also includes Beady Eye, Linkin Park, Adele, White Lies and Mogwai. The festival will see 62 bands play across 31 nights at the Camden Roundhouse in Chalk Farm.

The London electronic production duo of Saul “Chase” Milton and Will “Status” Kennard have released two albums, and since the release of their second effort this year, are going from strength to strength.

My Chemical Romance will be headlining Reading on the Friday and Leeds on Saturday, with support from 30 Seconds To Mars, The Offspring, Deftones, Rise Against, Bring Me The Horizon, The Blackout and Architects.

The Strokes will top the bill at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday, along with performances from Pulp, The National, Jimmy Eat World, Madness, Two Door Cinema Club, Seasick Steve, The Pigeon Detectives and The Joy Formidable.

Muse will headline Reading on Sunday and Friday in Leeds, with support from Elbow, Interpol, Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari, The View, Frank Turner and We Are The Ocean.

Beady Eye, Janes Addiction, 2many DJ’s, White Lies, Crystal Castles, The Streets, Noah and the Whale, Bombay Bicycle Club and Death From Above 1979 have also all been confirmed to appear across the weekend.

Reading Festival will take place at Richfield Avenue from the 26th to 28th August, whilst Leeds Festival will take place at Bramham Park across the same weekend. Weekend tickets will be priced at around £190, whilst day tickets will be priced at £80.

Jessie J promises to bring magic to iTunes festival

Jessie J has promised to bring magic to her performance at the upcoming iTunes festival. The singer will perform at The Roundhouse in London on the 15th July. The line-up already includes Adele, Duran Duran, Linkin Park, White Lies and Rumer and the free event will feature a total of 62 bands over 31 nights.

Speaking about the show, the UK artist said, ‘iTunes is where the magic happens. Let’s hope I can bring some of that magic to the stage.’

Jessie J tickets are on sale now for live shows taking place throughout March and April. The 2011 Jessie J tour will begin at Glasgow O2 Academy, stopping off in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Dublin before coming to a close at Mandela Hall in Belfast on 9th April.

Paul Weller confirmed as Kings Of Leon support act for Hyde Park shows

The Kings Of Leon support acts have been confirmed for the band’s Hyde Park gigs this summer. The Nashville group are confirmed to perform two headline shows in London on the 22nd and 23rd June.

Paul Weller has been added to the bill, as have UK band White Lies. The Zac Brown Band will also join the line-up.

Beady Eye iTunes Festival performance confirmed

Beady Eye are the latest band to be confirmed to perform at this year’s iTunes Festival in London. Over 60 acts will take to the stage at the Roundhouse in Camden throughout July, with Liam Gallagher’s band being the 6th to be announced.

Linkin Park, Adele, Rumer, Duran Duran and White Lies have already been confirmed.

Beady Eye recently confirmed full details of their first ever UK tour, set to take place throughout March and April. Beady Eye tickets are on sale now for all upcoming UK tour dates, including a performance at this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust series at The Royal Albert Hall in London.

Sometimes it seems preposterous that there are only three people in Muse. The amount of layers to the sound they make is quite astounding for a trio, and only serves to illustrate the ambition behind Matt Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard’s music.

Muse have come a long way since the early days of Showbiz and Origin Of Symmetry, and third album Absolution illustrated the higher level that the band were aiming for. Black Holes and Revelations and Resistance have built on these foundations further, and Muse’s gigs at Lancashire County Cricket Club and Wembley Stadium in September sees them at the very top of their game.

Muse, the ambitious rock band of Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Christopher Wolstenholme, absolutely stunned festival fans at T In The Park with an incredible live performance on Friday.

Beginning with Uprising, they moved swiftly on to Supermassive Black Hole and Map Of The Problematique, before taking it back a few years with New Born. Other classic Muse songs featured in a fan-friendly set, with Hysteria, Nina Simone cover Feeling Good, Time Is Running Out, Starlight and Stockholm Syndrome all going down to a rapturous reception.

Muse then returned for an encore of Plug In Baby and Knights Of Cydonia, with frontman Bellamy screaming Scotland as the set came to a close.

Muse tickets are in high demand after thousands of fans across the UK witnessed the band’s breathtaking headline performance at Glastonbury festival. As well as a boost in record sales, ticket sales for two shows at Wembley Arena and a concert at Lancashire County Cricket Club have risen.

Muse will perform at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Saturday 4th September, and will be supported by Editors, The Temper Trap and Pulled Apart By Horses.

This year’s V Festival line-up is arguably it’s best yet, with Kings of Leon and Kasabian headlining two epic days of music.

Joining Kings of Leon on Saturday 21st August at Hylands Park, and Sunday 22nd August at Weston Park will be Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Editors, The Courteeners, Passion Pit, Feeder and David Guetta.

Muse are set to perform two back-to-back shows at Wembley Stadium on Friday 10th September and Saturday 11th September, and seated tickets are still available at face value for both shows from ticketing websites, starting at £22 each.

Standing/general admission tickets have officially sold out, but are still available from ticket exchange websites, with varying prices for each show. There are almost 9,000 Muse tickets yet to be sold for the Wembley Stadium gigs.

Standing tickets for Friday 10th September are currently trading between £62 and £200, whilst standing tickets for Saturday 11th September are priced from £80 to £200.

White Lies Focused on Touring

The White Lies’ focus on their current UK tour and their European commitments in February 2010 have left them a little short of time to deliver a follow-up to their incredible debut album, “To Lose Life”.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 6, they acknowledged “That means that we won’t be writing until after those shows happen anyway because we’re taking January off and going to various places,”

We love the tour and can wait for the follow-up. Second album’s tend to disappoint anyway….

London trio White Lies have admitted they are worried that touring commitments will leave them with too little time to make a second album.

The band stormed the charts in January with their number one debut album, To Lose My Life.

“It seemed like, ‘It will happen when it happens’, but now it seems that it’s got to happen in a window of about two months,” said bassist Charles Cave.

This month sees the trio back in the UK for another series of live dates.

White Lies played Sheffield last night (24 Nov) and hit Nottingham tonight (25 Nov) and speaking to 6 Music Charles said it will be a little while until they get into the studio because they have booked in gigs in the UK throughout December and in Europe in February.

“That means that we won’t be writing until after those shows happen anyway because we’re taking January off and going to various places,” explained Cave.

He said they’ll miss being on the road so plan to put some shows in the diary during the summer, giving them March, April and May to write a follow-up.

Cave was frank about the pressure associated with the fabled ‘tricky second album’.

Pink ends US tour with spectacular New York show

Reports from the US suggest that Pink ended her US tour for the current album Funhouse with an impressive performance and her UK fans will be hoping for the same when she comes to the UK later this month.

Pink performed her last US tour date in Madison Square Gardens, New York and some reports have described the show as theatrical and well choreographed, giving an indication to what Pink fans can expect if coming to see Pink live in action in the UK.

Pink began the show wearing an outrageous orange outfit full of feathers to perform Just Like A Pill, but later revealed red hot pants and matching cheetah-print top as she sang Who Knew.

There were more eccentric costume changes throughout the night but the song that seemed to really get the crowd up on their feet was during U + Ur Hand, after Pink told the crowd that this song made her want to dance around like an idiot to then encourage the crowd to join her and do the same.

Some spectacular choreography could be seen during So What, where female dancers in their underwear staged a playfight whilst pushing a male dancer around on top of a bed, with more feathers flying about all over the place from the pillows used to beat up the only male.

However, events later turned into a sombre affair for the performance of Family Portrait, where Pink sang next to a pianist and violinist whilst wearing a white tank top, jeans and no shoes. This was later followed by the performance of Dear Mr. President to continue the serious mood, as the large screen in the background showed clips of broken families, war and poverty.

Things later returned back to its lighthearted nature just as the show was coming to an end, where Pink gave a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

During the title track to her album Funhouse, all connotations to the word could be seen. Imagine a circus; glitter, mirrors, clowns and dancers doing acrobatic moves in the air with twirling ribbons. Pink was also lifted in the air to join in with her own moves to really give the wow factor to her performance.

Tickets are still available to see whether the UK Funhouse tour will match up to what was already witnessed in the States, but Pink fans will need to be quick.

The Pink tour will visit major UK arenas such as the Manchester Evening News Arena (October 23-25), Birmingham National Indoor Arena (October 30 & 31) and the London O2 Arena (December 8 & 10).

Jay-Z London gig announced as new album is leaked online

Not only will Jay-Z be in the UK to perform three massive shows with Coldplay, but the American rapper will also host one special show in the London Roundhouse on Thursday September 17.

The intimate gig will coincide with the release of the new album from Jay-Z called The Blueprint 3, available from September 14.

The Blueprint 3 was produced by Kanye West, who features on the new Jay-Z single Run This Town with Rihanna and is available now.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jay-Z is excited by the fact that his new album has been leaked online.

Rather than discussing the potential consequences of people already hearing his eagerly anticipated new album before its official release, Jay-Z instead talked about how he might be the most bootlegged artist in history but was proud of his work so listeners should enjoy it.

Jay-Z also claimed that he had been getting feedback from those who had already listened to it.

Elsewhere, Jay-Z went to visit Africa to check up on his Water For Life campaign, and has since described how rappers should not talk about their gangster backgrounds because their lives are much easier compared to those living in Africa.

Jay-Z believes that those really living in the hood are those who have to wake up in the morning to get water for the family, and living with no bathroom in their house.

Jay-Z said that seeing Africa in this way puts life into perspective, and that using his celebrity status to bring awareness to this was something he felt good about.

Jay-Z tickets for the show at the London Roundhouse on September 17 will go on general sale from Friday September 4 at 9am.

The special gig is to be broadcast live on Fuse TV with tickets to attend costing in the region of $599. However, the date in which tickets will go on sale are yet to be revealed.

September 11 is also the date when Jay-Z releases his new album The Blueprint 3, which is released on September 14 in the UK.

Proceeds from the tribute show, which will take place at Madison Square Gardens, will go to the New York Police and the Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Jay-Z has spoken of the upcoming gig as encompassing the true spirit of New York City. Jay-Z has also spoken of his honour towards the victims’ families and praised the city’s resilience as people continue to look after their own.

The day after the New York tribute concert, Jay-Z is set to take the stage once again, but this time to support Coldplay in the UK.

Coldplay and Jay-Z will play three major shows in September, starting with a gig in the Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground on September 12.

Then, Coldplay and Jay-Z will also be joined by White Lies at Glasgow Hampden Park on September 16. Coldplay are then supported by Girls Aloud at London Wembley Stadium on September 18 before being joined by Jay-Z one last time at London Wembley Stadium on September 19

Frontman of Coldplay Chris Martin has assured fans he does not have any plans to start a solo career.

Rumours of Chris Martin leaving Coldplay seem to be never ending, but as Coldplay prepare for their UK tour later this year, Chris Martin felt to reassure fans of the band’s future.

Chris Martin reveals that hell would have to freeze over before even considering leaving Coldplay.

He also joked that to launch a solo career would be the result of being dumped by his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, and desperately needing the money.

Chris Martin is actually currently recording a new album with Coldplay, their fifth release due for 2010.

He describes feeling hungry for writing songs all the time, which could be because he is turning 33.

It has also been announced that the support acts for the Coldplay shows at the London Wembley Stadium will be Jay-Z and Girls Aloud, with both acts performing on both dates.

It was previously understood that Jay-Z would support Coldplay on one date and Girls Aloud would be the support act for the other date at the London Wembley Stadium. Now, fans can see both acts on both days.

Also, it has been announced that there is another support act in the shape of White Lies for the Coldplay gigs at the London Wembley Stadium.

Fans can see Coldplay at the Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Club (September 12) and the Glasgow Hampden Park (September 16) before two massive shows at the London Wembley Stadium (September 18 & 19).

Organiser’s of Lollapalooza 2009 have confirmed Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Jane’s Addiction and Beastie Boys as headliners for this years summer festival.

Also included on what promises to be one of the world’s premium summer 2009 line ups are Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, Lou Reed, Passion Pit, Glasvegas, White Lies and Chairlift

The Loollapalooza festival is widely regarded as one of the United States premiere festivals for music fans attracting a broad line up mainstream, emerging and cult acts.

The festival which is due to take place in Chicago’s Grant Park in Chicago this coming August 7, 8 and 9 will also host Animal Collective, Band Of Horses, Of Montreal, Ben Folds, Fleet Foxes, Silversun Pickups, Kaiser Chiefs, Crystal Castles and Santigold will also perform as will Lykke Li, Friendly Fires, Bat For Lashes, and new york rockers The Virgins.

Lily Allen and Franz Ferdinand headline Radio 1′s Big Weekend

Radio 1 has confirmed that Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian, Calvin Harris and Franz Ferdinand are to headline this years Radio 1 Big Weekend due to take place in Swindon’s Lydiard Park on the weekend of 9 and 10 May.

Radio 1′s big weekend is the UK’s biggest free ticketed music festival and drawing over 500,000 applications for tickets in 2008.

Also joining the bill will be White Lies, The Enemy, The Wombats, Basement Jaxx, Friendly Fires, Alesha Dixon, Ne-Yo, Akon, Ladyhawke, King Blues, Florence And The Machine, Jack Penate, The Saturdays and Gossip. They join N-Dubz and Snow Patrol who were announced for the two day event last month.

BBC Radio 1 have adopted a variation of the free ticket ballot model for the release of the highly in demand 40,000 tickets with the ballot weighted in favour of those living in Swindon. Ticket registration will be open from Wednesday from 8.15am and until 10am on 20 April.

White Lies, Maximo Park and The View added to Isle of Wight line up

White Lies, Maximo Park, and The View have been added to this years Isle of Wight festival.

The hugely popular event which is set to take place between 12 & 14 at Seaclose Park will now also include appearances from The Rifles, The Zombies and Paolo Nutini as well as The Australian Pink Floyd Show and Ultravox who will also perform at the festival.

The Pixies will be kicking off the festival with a rare appearance having only performed intermittently since their 2005 headline shows at Reading and Leeds festivals. Meanwhile Neil Young will bring the festival to a close on the Sunday (June 14). Tickets for the 2009 Isle of Wight Festival are still available from £160.

Other acts including The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Stereophonics and Razorlight are among the band’s performing at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival.

As well as having confirmed an appearance at this years Isle of Wight festival and two other live dates in the UK, Neil Young will perform at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena on June 23 Aberdeen Exhibition Centre the following day (June 24), London’s Had Rock Calling (June 27) and Glastonbury Festival (June 28). Neil Young tickets are still available from £50.

Other acts on the 2009 Isle of Wight line up are also on tour in the UK this year. Stereophonics play a one off special gig at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the 2009 Teenage Cancer Trust campaign. Prodigy tickets start at £25 and tickets to see Basement Jaxx are available from £20. Radiohead to play summer 2009 concerts

In an interview with BBC radio’s Newsbeat Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien has hinted at the possibility of the Band performing a series of summer gigs.

Currently working on new material, it would seem that the band will be seeking to showcase a new album at various summer gigs. We will be doing a little bit of touring in the summer, watch this space!’ said O’Brien

The expected tour would following on from Radiohead’s 2008 In Rainbows tour which culminated in a showpiece concert at London’s Hyde park.

O’Brien was speaking at the first meeting of the Featured Artists’ Coalition in London. The newly formed music industry lobby of musicians who are attempting to establish a more prominent voice in the future of the music industry.

The FAC has claimed it will fight to ensure that the interests of artists and fans are not compromised by deals brokered between multi-national corporations which only serve corporations self interest. To this end it is asking for transparency from the industry in exchange for cooperation towards renewal and growth.

Glasvegas, Doves Nine Inch Nails, Pet Shop Boy’s and Jane’s Addiction have been confirmed to perform at Ireland’s Oxegen festival this summer.

The Saturdays, Eagles Of Death Metal, Dreadzone, God Is An Astronaut, Tom Middleton,Aeroplane, Gary Go and Hudson Mohawke have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse in Ireland on July 10 and 12.

Oxegen 2009 is promising to be one of the stand out festivals of the year with the likes of Lily Allen, Keane,and The Specials joining acts such as The Killers, Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
