X Factor’s Tulisa Contostavlos to set out on movie career

N-Dubz star turned X Factor judge, Tulisa Contostavlos is now setting out on her own movie career it has been revealed today.

Following her time on the show, she will star in Big Fat Gypsy Gangster which will be released straight to DVD and also features The Saturday’s Rochelle Wiseman in the cast. My Big Fat Gypsy Gangster will be followed be a second film role for Tulisa as she will also star in Demons Never Die, which also stars Robert Sheehan and Ashley Walters.

The X Factor 2011 show will start again this Saturday (August 20th) and be followed by an arena tour in early 2012.

Excitement builds as X Factor 2011 just a few weeks away

With just weeks remaining until X Factor kicks off once again, and the auditions are underway in Liverpool today (July 13th).

Those auditioning in Liverpool today may see their performances in the first of the televised shows, which begin on August 20th. The live final will take place on December 11th.

In other X Factor news, new judge Tulisa Contostavlos celebrates her 23rd birthday today, and 2009 winner Joe McElderry has just signed a new record contract with Universal.

The finalists of the X Factor will go on tour in early 2012, taking their acts around the country.

Beyonce may reunite with Destiny’s Child

If Beyonce’s fourth album isn’t successful she may reunite with Destiny’s Child.

Beyonce’s record company Columbia raised concerns that her new album ’4′ didn’t have her usual number of hit songs on it and even requested she make alterations – which she refused to do.

It is rumoured that Columbia feel ‘Beyonce’s career has stalled a bit’ and that ‘Columbia seems to think they can get some mileage out of a comeback record with all of the girls.’ However Kelly Rowland (who has been successful as a solo artists too, picking up two grammy awards, her recent single ‘Motivation’ featuring Lil’wayne reached the top spot of the Hot R7B/Hip Hop charts and she has just joined the judging panel on the eighth series of X Factor UK) is not keen to reunited the band.

The Darkness discuss drug problems ahead of UK tour

In an interview ahead of their upcoming November tour, members of The Darkness have spoken of the problems arising from singer Justin Hawkins’ drug use, and how it was a key factor contributing to their 2006 breakup.

Speaking to The Sun, brother Dan Hawkins revealed, “I pleaded with him about his health. If he had carried on the way he was going he would not be here today. It was bad. It was like Justin had this big red button he was itching to press which would kill him.” In 2006 the lead singer was treated for cocaine and alcohol abuse at the London’s infamous The Priory rehab clinic, at the same departing the rock four-piece.

The Darkness frontman revealed he had suffered as a result of the prolonged drug use. ”By the end I was fat, bloated and useless…My whole focus was to get the gig over with so I could get smashed.”

The improvement in his health and attitude was evident this weekend, almost five years since the singer last took drugs or alcohol. During their an impressive show at Download Festival, appearing before headliners Def Leppard, Justin Hawkins told fans, ”Tonight is already the best night of my life, thank you.” It was their first performance at a festival since mid-2004.

Only two dates into the audition round of UK X Factor and Louis Walsh thinks he’s discovered a potential winner.

The Irish judge has been enjoying the start of UK X Factor, with talent flooding through the doors, even being brought to tears by one performer in Glasgow.

It isn’t just the talent he has been enjoying either but the new judges too “ Kelly’s pretty fiery and Tulisa..ohhhhh…she’s good and of course Gary Barlow’s been round, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s very honest.

The Westlife manager was on Loose Women this afternoon looking a little tired after partying with Tulisa all night!

Louis says although Simon, Cheryl and Dani have not returned, the new series will ‘still be fabulous’ and ‘this could be our biggest and our best series ever,”

Mariah Carey set for X Factor role

Simon Cowell has confirmed that Mariah Carey will play a part in the upcoming X Factor USA series. Cowell, who recently announced that he would not be appearing during the early stages of the UK show this year, said, “I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows.

“I met her recently and she was on great form. And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with.”

He added: “She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”

The 2011 X Factor UK Tour recently came to a close, but will be hitting arenas yet again in early 2012, featuring the stars from this year’s upcoming edition of the popular show.

One Direction to release debut single in June

X Factor finalists One Direction have confirmed during an appearance on The Alan Titchmarsh Show that they will release their debut single in June.

The boys were originally expected to bring out their debut much earlier, but they confirmed a summer release during a chat with Titchmarsh on Monday.

18-year-old Zain Malik – reported to be dating fellow contestant Rebecca Ferguson – told the gardener-turned-TV-presenter: ‘We’re looking to release in the summer, in June sometime. We just want to make a massive track to start off with and see where it goes from there,’ band mate Liam Payne added.

The delay may be down to a hands-off approach by Simon Cowell, after the boys recently revealed they rarely get to see their mentor.

Or it might be that the boys have simply been too busy to finalise the track – they have been travelling the UK with the X Factor Live Tour, and even released their own autobiography in February.

Lionel Richie could join X Factor judging panel

Lionel Richie is reportedly in talks about joining the X Factor lineup.

Richie is thought to be a favourite of Simon Cowell’s to join the judging panel of the ITV1 talent show as the TV boss is keen to get the final line-up sorted before auditions start in earnest next month.

Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh have both been told to keep their diaries clear, though have not yet signed their new contracts and neither Simon Cowell or Cheryl Cole are expected to return, as he prioritises the US version, which is currently holding auditions.

Simon is set to meet ITV1 bosses in early April to decided on the four judges, with Nicole Scherzinger, Lily Allen, Michael Buble and Gary Barlow also in the frame.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “It has reached crunch time as we need to start announcing UK judges. Simon is coming in to talk. We’re confident we’ll have it wrapped up by next week.”

Richie’s last US number one was in 1984 and he embarked on advertising Walkers Crisps in the UK last year.

Mary Byrne still hasn’t handed in supermarket resignation

The 51-year-old semi-finalist told Sky’s Eamonn Holmes she still has her check-out position at Tesco in Ballyfermont, Ireland, as she hasn’t got round to handing in her resignation.

“I’m waiting to get a bit of time to go back there and sit down with management and give my little letter in,” she said.

Byrne is currently travelling around the country with her fellow contestants on the X Factor tour.

“The singing isn’t the real job, it’s all the stuff you have to do with it that’s hard. When you’ve got the album out, you’ve got to promote it and I’m on tour at the same time and so it’s been quite hard but still very enjoyable.”

Byrne, who was among the most popular entrants in the ITV talent show last year and the only person in the entire series to have scored more points than eventual winner Matt Cardle in one of the final 12 weeks, has released a collection of cover versions of her favourite songs in her debut album, Mine & Yours.

Dermot O’Leary wants Lily Allen to judge on The X Factor

Dermot O’Leary has revealed Lily Allen as his top pick to replace Simon Cowell if the media mogul quits the panel.

The 37-year-old presenter is hopeful Simon and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole will return to their roles on the X Factor but says he has his eyes set on the ‘Not Fair’ star as a viable replacement.

I don’t think we need a nasty judge,” Dermot said. “I think we need an alpha, but an alpha could be anyone. I’d love Lily Allen to be sat in Simon’s chair.”

With auditions set to start next month, the presenter admits it is strange to have no idea who he will be working alongside on the panel.

“I’ve no idea who I’m working with – which is weird, because we’re starting quite soon. I’ll just have to do it myself.”

Lily Allen has recently quit performance to start up a record label and open a fashion boutique shop, but took part as a judge on Channel 4′s Unsigned Act a couple of years back.

Cheryl Cole could face plagiarism charge

The X Factor judge’s hit ‘Fight For This Love’ is being investigated over claims of plagiarism from music publishers Wardlaw Banks and Peermusic. Seven companies have allegedly joined forces to claim that the track infringes copyright laws.

It is alleged that the number one hit has borrowed from little-known track ‘I Want You Back’, which was never released and only exists as a demo.

Wayne Wilkins, who has writing credits on both tracks, has since claimed that he cannot remember what his input into ‘I Want You Back’ was.

A High Court judge will now have to make a decision whether Cole’s debut solo hit has breached copyright laws or not. Cole is currently in the US awaiting a verdict on her role in The X Factor USA, following Simon Cowell’s claim that she is still very much “in the mix”.

Cole is re-working her solo album with Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am, readying it for a U.S Release. She has reportly been suffering from stress at the uncertainty of her role in the new seris of The X Factor and its American equivalent.

X Factor winner Matt Cardle dating backing dancer

Current X Factor winner Matt Cardle has owned up to having a girlfriend. The former painter and decorator, currently performing on the X Factor Live 2011 tour, has fallen for gorgeous backing dancer Sarah Robinson.

Asked if he is single, Cardle admitted: “I’m sorry, I can’t say that. I can’t promise that.”

The romance began just weeks after Robinson had split with her long term boyfriend Blair Dreelan – a singer with boy band 4th Ba5e who have auditioned for the ITV1 competition three times, but never made it through.

Cardle, who got the most votes on the show from week 2 to being crowned winner, became the first winner not to be signed solely to SImon Cowell’s record label, instead opting for a joint deal with Syco and Columbia.

ITV ‘sweating’ over Simon Cowell’s X Factor future

ITV bosses are said to be worried about the X Factor future of Simon Cowell.

Cowell reportedly arrived back in the UK this week to begin negotiations with channel executives, but rumours are persisting that he still has not decided if he will be appearing in both the US and UK versions.

“Simon is cutting it really fine. ITV are desperate for some concrete news,” a source told the Sun. “All this dithering is seeing them break out in cold sweats. Simon’s focus is on the US series, which has nothing to do with ITV.”

The star’s of last year’s X Factor competition are currently taking part in the 2011 X Factor Live Tour.

Matt Cardle signs to Columbia

Last year’s X Factor winner Matt Cardle has signed a deal with Columbia records, it has emerged. The singer has signed a joint deal with Columbia and SyCo records as Simon Cowell prepares to launch his career as a credible rock star.

Cowell is hoping that Cardle will emulate the success of Kasabian, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen who are all signed to Columbia.

He has agreed to give up sole control of Cardle’s career in a bid to make sure he’s taken seriously as a rock star.

Matt Cardle is currently taking part in the X Factor Live Tour, which will take place at a number of UK arenas until April 2011.

ITV bosses to axe 2011 X Factor competition

ITV bosses are said to be considering delaying this year’s X Factor series until 2012, in a bid to keep Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole as judges. The duo are expected to miss this year’s show, as the running will coincide with the US version of the show.

A source said: “ITV is looking at a range of options to keep Cheryl and Simon. But changing dates would play havoc with ITV’s schedule and the auditions have already begun.”

Meanwhile, last year’s X Factor stars are currently touring UK arenas. X Factor live tickets are currently on sale for shows running until May.

Jeff Brazier eyes X Factor job

Jeff Brazier has claimed that he would like to take on the Xtra Factor presenter role.

Brazier has been used as a guest reporter on X Factor live finals and has also presented the X Factor live tour since 2005.

“Cowell first used me in the X Factor final and for me I would say that is the perfect job as I feel I am best used when I’m mixing with people and getting the best out of contestants,” Brazier told Metro.

“I am kind of at the stage where I want to take on big responsibilities. It is getting close to the period when they start making decisions, I am guessing.

“I am certainly making the most of my opportunity on Dancing On Ice and the rest is up to Simon Cowell to see who he thinks will be the best person for the job.

“Like any person, you kind of go about picking up the skills so that one day it will put you in a position to be able to do certain types of jobs.”

Lily Allen to replace Simon Cowell on X Factor

Lily Allen is Simon Cowell’s first choice to replace him as a judge on the X Factor, according to reports.

Cowell is said to be pulling out all the stops to secure the singer as a judge for the next series. But Allen is apparently not convinced and wants to continue her time out of the spotlight.

“She doesn’t need the money or the hassle at this stage in her life,” a source told The Sun. “Maybe in a few years’ time when circumstances change she will be more receptive.”

Cowell, and co-judge Cheryl Cole, are both doubts for the next series as they both wish to focus on the US version of the hit show.

There is serious doubt over whether Simon Cowell will appear on the UK X Factor judging panel this year, and confusion over who will host the US and UK shows.

Newspaper speculation this weekend suggested both Cowell and the popular Cheryl Cole had quit the British show in order to focus on the US version.

Cowell recently stated there will be “surprises” in the line-up of both shows, but has so far failed to confirm who the judging panel or the hosts will be.

JLS Hylands Park: New show added

JLS have confirmed details of a second show at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, with tickets on sale now. The band will now perform on Sunday 10th July, as well as Saturday 9th, with support on both occasions coming from fellow X Factor star Olly Murs.

The popular group will perform a series of outdoor shows throughout the summer of 2011, after a hugely successful arena tour in January.

JLS Add Hull Sound City Festival Show To UK Tour

JLS have announced a live show at the Kingston Communications Stadium in Hull on Friday 10th July as part of Sound City Festival.

The multi-platinum selling boyband are already playing a number of gigs in 2011, but fans in East Yorkshire certainly won’t be complaining about the latest addition to their UK tour dates!

It is the first concert to be held at Hull KC Stadium in four years, and the group will be joined by a fellow former X Factor contestant: the JLS support act will be Olly Murs.

It has been a good week for X Factor star Aiden Grimshaw.

As well as reportedly signing a record deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco label, he has announced a UK tour of O2 Academies to take place in May 2011.

JLS have confirmed details of a huge summer show set to take place in June 2011 at Swansea Liberty Stadium. The band are currently performing the final shows of their current UK tour, and have now announced their first summer show for Sunday 12th June.

The 2008 X Factor runners-up released their second album last year, Outta This World, and have sold out shows at some of the UK’s biggest arenas throughout January, with performances at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Sheffield Motorpoint Arena and Liverpool Echo Arena still to come.

JLS tickets for the Liberty Stadium show will go on sale Wednesday 26th January, tickets to the remaining January tour dates are available to buy online now.

Olly Murs announces new single release

Former X Factor contestant Olly Murs has announced details of his next single release, Heart On My Sleeve. The track will be the third release from his debut Platinum selling album. Written by James Morrison and John Shanks, the single release will include new track C’Mon C’Mon as a b-side, which was written by Olly Murs himself.

Olly Murs will be hoping that the new song can follow the success of previous hits Please Don’t Let Me Go and Thinking Of Me. The single release will precede the upcoming Olly Murs UK tour, which is due to begin in April 2011. Before that, the 2009 X Factor runner up will perform two live shows in February, in Somerset and Clacton On Sea. Olly Murs tickets for all upcoming UK tour dates are on sale now.

Shayne Ward has confirmed initial dates for his 2011 UK tour. The first ever winner of the X Factor competition will be embarking on a comeback tour this year, and has announced the dates of his first 4 live shows.

So far, concerts have been confirmed to take place in Wolverhampton, London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Big names set for Belfast Odyssey Arena this month

Some huge acts are set to take to the stage at Belfast Odyssey Arena in early 2011, with the January and February schedule providing a great start to the year at Northern Ireland’s biggest live entertainment venue.

JLS are set to begin proceedings by performing two shows on the 12th and 13th January as part of their current UK tour, followed by three Strictly Come Dancing Live shows on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd February.

Peter Kay will then bring his latest tour to the arena for three consecutive nights, on the 7th, 8th and 9th February, before the stars of the 2010 X Factor competition take to the stage on the 25th, 26th and 27th.

Odyssey Arena Belfast tickets are on sale now for all of these shows and more. Russell Howard, The Script, Boyzone, Westlife, Bryan Adams and Rihanna have all been confirmed to perform at the arena in 2011.

Big names set for Sheffield Motorpoint Arena in January 2011

Sheffield’s largest live entertainment venue, The Motorpoint Arena, is set to host a number of huge acts this month, starting with two nights of Strictly Come Dancing Live. The shows will include Colin Jackson, Patsy Kensit, Jimi Mistry, Tina O’Brien, Pamela Stephenson, Kara Tointon, Ann Widdecombe and Ricky Whittle, and will take place on the 17th and 18th January.

Popular boy-band JLS will also be making an appearance at the venue this month, and will perform on Friday 28th January as part of their UK tour. JLS Sheffield Motorpoint Arena tickets are available from around £26 each.

Peter Kay Sheffield Motorpoint Arena tickets are still available for three back-to-back January shows, with the comedian performing on the 29th, 30th and 31st as part of the hugely successful ‘Tour That Doesn’t Tour’ tour.

Three new X Factor Live shows are now on sale, with the stars of the 2010 competition set to perform extra dates at Glasgow SECC, Liverpool Echo Arena and Aberdeen Exhibition Centre.

The X Factor Live tour 2011 will stop off at all of the UK’s top arenas, including Birmingham LG Arena, London Wembley Arena, Belfast Odyssey Arena, Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, Brighton Centre, Nottingham Trent FM Arena, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Manchester MEN Arena and Cardiff International Arena. Tickets for all other X Factor live shows are on sale now.

Usher has recently expressed his thoughts on who he thinks should join him on his upcoming UK tour. The RnB superstar has stated that as well as wanting Cheryl Cole to support him during his London shows, he would like Susan Boyle to join him for his Glasgow SECC concert.

Usher recently spoke to The Mirror about Cole. “I spent a little time with her in England last month at the X Factor. I’m sure she’s gonna make it in the States. She’s got it going on. I want Cheryl on stage for sure. It will be really nice, if she has time. She got moves.”

He went on to tell of his admiration for Britain’s Got Talent star, Susan Boyle, “I want Susan to open for me in Scotland. I saw her on YouTube, she can hit some notes – we’ll shock people.”

Rihanna’s latest album, Loud, has climbed to the top of the UK charts, taking the number one spot away from popular boy-band Take That. Rihanna has already released singles Only Girl (In The World) and What’s My Name from her latest record, and is the first artist to out-sell Take That’s Progress in over 7 weeks.

Simon Cowell threatens to halt US X Factor if Cheryl Cole can’t judge

Simon Cowell is allegedly in arguments with US TV network Fox over allowing Cheryl Cole to judge the American version of the X Factor. The media mogul has reportedly threatened to axe the show if Cole is not allowed to be on the panel, even though she is unknown in the United States.

Fox Network bosses are said to feel that Cheryl’s lack of fame in the US will not allow the X Factor to compete with American Idol, Cowell’s former show which is a hit and boasts a range of A-list star appearances.

We are yet to see if Cowell is willing to lose out on the revenue the US X Factor will bring him over loyalty to the Girls Aloud singer.

Although the UK X Factor is over for another year fans can see winner Matt Cardle, along with contestants One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Mary Byrne, Katie Waissel, Wagner, Rebecca Ferguson, Paije Richardson and Aiden Grimshaw on the X Factor Live tour playing venues around the UK beginning in February 2011.

Two new X Factor Live UK Tour dates have been confirmed, with the show’s finalists now set to perform extra concerts at Liverpool Echo Arena on 10th March and Glasgow SECC on 3rd April. Performances will come from winner Matt Cardle, Katie Waissel, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson, Wagner, Mary Byrne, Paije Richardson and Aiden Grimshaw.

X Factor tickets for the new shows will go on general sale this Friday, 7th January. Tickets for all other X Factor live shows are on sale now.

More X Factor Live tickets are released

More tickets for X Factor Live 2011 have been released today as well as tickets for existing dates still available. The three extra shows will take place at the SECC in Glasgow on the 3rd April and at the Cardiff International Arena on the 11th April in both the afternoon and evening.

Contestants from the series will be appearing live on stage in front of excited audiences. Performances will come from winner Matt Cardle, Katie Waissel, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson, Wagner, Mary Byrne, Paije Richardson and Aiden Grimshaw.

Last minute tickets for shows at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena are on sale now. The shows that will be playing this month include former X Factor runners up JLS, American rockers Kings of Leon and “Mysterious Girl” singer and reality TV star Peter Andre.

American TV series Glee leads the Golden Globe nominations after being put up for five awards for the ceremony on January 16th. The show has received nominations for Best Comedy/Musical TV Series, Best Actor for Protagonist (Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison) and Best Supporting Cast Members (Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch).

Rihanna has added an extra date to her tour, at the O2 Arena in London. The pop star, who appeared on the X Factor final last weekend, has added another date due to huge demand from the public.

Matt Cardle has just been confirmed as the winner of the 2010 X Factor. Matt Cardle – who is originally from Colchester – has been mentored by Danni Minogue over the last ten weeks on the live shows, and has recently been announced as the X Factor 2010 winner.

Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson were the last two contestants competing for the X Factor Crown after One Direction were voted off earlier this evening.

Matt Cardle will be releasing the Biffy Clyro hit ‘Many of Horror’ next week and is currently the bookies’ favourite to clinch the Christmas number 1 chart spot.

Matt Cardle will be performing live with all of this year’s finalists on the X Factor 2011 Live Tour. Following Cher Lloyd’s departure on yesterday’s X Factor Live show, the boy band being mentored by Simon Cowell, One Direction, have been voted off this evening’s final X Factor show.

One Direction’s departure leaves Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle as the last two remaining contestants vying for the 2010 X Factor crown.

Regardless of the outcome of this evening’s final, the remaining two contestants will be performing live with the other finalists on the 2011 X Factor Live Tour. Rihanna has recently announced an extra two shows on her 2011 Loud Tour. Rihanna will now play additional dates at the O2 Arena in London and the Glasgow SECC on the 6th and 11th of October, respectively.

Also, fans will be excited to learn that Rihanna will be performing live on this weekend’s X Factor final. The Umbrella singer will sing a duet with one of the remaining finalist, Matt Cardle. It is believed that the final shows will also include performances from Will.i.am who is understood to be taking to the stage with Cher Lloyd as well as performances from Robbie Williams who will sing with One Direction. Take That could be returning to the X Factor, in order to perform on this week’s live final, according to reports. The boyband, who have recently been reunited with Robbie Williams, performed on the hit television show last month, but could be set to return to the famous stage on Sunday’s results show. Other names that have been rumoured to be performing include Prince, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Eminem, Will.I.Am and Avril Lavigne.

This weekend’s X Factor final is shaping up to be an exciting event, with rumours of performances from an array of stars. Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, will.i.am and Rihanna have been named for duets, but there are also rumours that rapper Eminem will team up with Cher Lloyd, and Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber have also been named as possible candidates.

Music legend Prince is also rumoured to be appearing on the results show for his first return to the UK in over 2 years. It is expected the appearance will come with an announcement of a new UK tour.
