US pop star Lady GaGa is involved in yet more controversy after offending mental health campaigners by referring to her critics as “retarded.”

Responding to claims that her most recent single, Judas, is similar to Madonna’s Express Yourself, GaGa said, “Why would I try to put out a song and think I’m getting one over on everybody? That’s retarded.”

A spokesman for Mencap responded by saying, “It’s an unfortunate choice of words, particularly from someone so influential.”

Fans are expecting Lady GaGa 2011 UK tour plans to be announced shortly.

Lady GaGa’s promo will ‘shock the world’

The flamboyant singer has already finished shooting the video for her track Judas, which her creative director Laurieann Gibson was heavily involved with.

Laurieann knows many will be expecting something outrageous from the star given the title of the song – in the Bible, Judas was one of Jesus’ apostles but ended up betraying him. However, she thinks many will be pleasantly surprised by how uplifting the promo is.

“I will tell you now, first off, I’m Christian, and my career is evidence of God in my life, and I think that most people are already thinking that Gaga and the blasphemy and they’re premeditating the approach and I think they’ll be very shocked to find out how huge and really ground breaking the message is and how freeing the message is for all the right reasons,” she told MTV News. “And it’s really going to shock the world.”

Gaga portrays Mary Magdalene in the release, while Judas is played by Hawaii Five-0 actor Norman Reedus. Laurieann calls Norman’s performance “prolific”, and was blown away by how well he did.

She explained the whole video was directed by her and Gaga as they were so determined to get it right, especially as she thinks Gaga’s previous promo for Born This Way could have been better.

“There was elements of Born This Way during our collaboration [with director Nick Knight] and, as much as I loved it, there were moments where, for me, it didn’t really evolve as I had inspired of the actual creative, which was still fine,” she explained. “But when we got to Judas, it was very clear to me and the inspiration was very clear to her.”

GaGa announced the news through her twitter page, along with the news that she will be reviving her Transmission Gagavision web series.

‘I begin next month as a Fashion+Art Columnist for @VMagazine. + I’ll be resurrecting “TRANSMISSION GAGAVISION” episodes starting next week!’ she tweeted.

Lady GaGa confirmed for Radio 1′s Big Weekend

Meat-wearing publicity lover Lady GaGa has been confirmed to play this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend in Carlisle, joining the Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas and Nicole Scherzinger.

DJs Fearne Cotton and Greg James revealed that the ‘Born This Way’ singer will play the main stage on Sunday, May 15.

The two-day music event will take place on May 14 and May 15 at Carlisle Airport.

Southampton born DJ Scott Mills earlier revealed that 40,000 tickets for the event will be allocated via a ballot. Anyone wishing to attend has to apply via the Radio 1 website, with registration opening tomorrow morning.

Last year’s Big Weekend, held in Bangor in Nroth Wales, featured artists including Rihanna, Florence & The Machine, Cheryl Cole and Justin Bieber.

Lady GaGa will direct her next video, it has been confirmed. The US star will call the shots for the filming of the video to her next single, Judas.

“I’m very excited. Actually, I can exclusively reveal here at Google that I will be making my directorial debut with Laurieann Gibson, directing this video with her ourselves,” she said. “It’s no surprise, I’m sure, to many of you, that Judas is a man of the biblical senses, so expect to see some symbolism in this video.”

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, posted the snap on her Twitter page, which showed her modelling sci-fi-style pointy-face prosthetics. Gaga tweeted the picture to celebrate as she started putting the final touches to her album, Born This Way, which is set for a May release.

She wrote: ‘In Nebraska, finishing up record today. I’m so proud of the album: I keep dancing+drinking: metal/techno rock journey of a woman on the run.’

The first single from the album has already been released and takes the same name as her second studio effort.

Malaysian radio stations refusing to play new Lady GaGa single

Malaysian radio stations are refusing to air the new Lady GaGa single, Born This Way, due to its pro-gay lyrics. Broadcasters have removed large parts of the song, including the line: “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track, baby.”

A spokesperson for Amp Radio Networks told The Associated Press: “(Those lyrics) may be considered as offensive when viewed against Malaysia’s social and religious observances.

“The issue of being gay, lesbian or (bisexual) is still considered as a ‘taboo’ by general Malaysians.”

Lady GaGa being sued by music producer

It has been revealed that Lady GaGa is being sued by the man that claims to have co-written her songs, created her stage name and helped her get a record deal. Rob Fusari has filed a £23 million lawsuit against the Grammy Award-winning singer, claiming he is owed a 20% share of her earnings.

Fusari says he introduced Lady Gaga to a record executive, ultimately leading her to Interscope Records, which released The Fame in 2008. The album has sold more than three million copies in the United States and Fusari is credited as a producer.

It has been revealed that Lady GaGa plans to overhaul her live shows for the third time. The 23-year-old singer will make changes to her set for the remainder of the UK leg of her Monster Ball tour before moving on to New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

So far, the tour has been a massive success, and the new changes are set be as interesting and unexpected as ever from the Bad Romance singer.

Lady GaGa may be in line for a collaboration with Britney Spears, according to reports this morning. The American popstars were seen together at the Grammy Awards earlier this month and Lady GaGa is said to be keen for the pair to enter the studio later this year. Lady GaGa has already spoken of her admiration for Britney in the past.

A source close to the starlets told The Sun: ‘At the end of the chat, they exchanged numbers and agreed to go into the studio.’

Lady GaGa to sing for charity single?

Lady GaGa and U2′s Bono will both sing on Lionel Richie’s charity single ‘We Are the World’ for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, according to new reports. The two acts will join the likes of Usher and Jennifer Hudson on the remake of Richie and Quincy Jones’ hit, which was originally released back in 1985 to help raise money for famine relief in Africa.

Simon Cowell reportedly wants Lady Gaga to appear as a judge on the US X Factor. The Sun reported that a source close to Cowell said: ‘Simon thinks Lady Gaga is great and really likes her energy.’

The reports are yet to be confirmed but no-one would bet against the quirky American star appearing on the show, given her ability to surprise and delight fans: back in December, she guest performed on the X Factor in a bathtub.
