Seasick Steve is set to visit the UK to perform material from his forthcoming album, Man From Another Time.  The album is set to be released on October 19.

The 2009 Seasick Steve tour is due to commence on November 2 at Newcastle City Hall. Seasick Steve will aslo play live at Leeds Academy (November 5), Manchester Apollo (November 9) and Cardiff Millennium Centre (November 12). The Seasick Steve tour climaxes at Brixton O2 Academy on Novermber 17.

The Big Day Out festival is scheduled to take place throughout January 2010, playing a total of six shows in Auckland (January 15), Gold Coast (January 17), Sydney (January 22), Melbourne (January 27), Adelaide (January 29) and Perth (January 31).

Lily Allen will also headline two shows together with Dizzee Rascal at the Manchester Evening News Arena (March 5 2010) and the London O2 Arena (March 7), with tickets going on general sale on Friday October 9 at 9am.

The Dizzee Rascal tour is already underway this month where the Tongue N Cheek rapper will perform at the Birmingham O2 Academy (October 17), London Brixton O2 Academy (October 22) and the Leeds O2 Academy (October 26).

Calvin Harris is also touring the album Ready For The Weekend this month and in November, with gigs at the Manchester Academy (October 24), London HMV Forum (October 28) and the Glasgow O2 Academy (November 4).

It has been reported that Paolo Nutini has been eyeing up fellow Scottish artists for a star-studded collaboration. He revealed he would like to work with James Allan, frontman of the group Glasvegas, and has already spoken to Franz Ferdinand where they have a studio together in Glasgow.

Paolo Nutini said he has already made a pact with Kyle Falconer, lead singer of The View to record a mini album together, and it seems the desire to work with more successful Scottish artists is set to continue.

However, Paolo Nutini is also a fan of London-based group The Noisettes by saying he would not mind working with their lead singer Shingai Shoniwa.

Lily Allen claims that she remains an avid music fan but with reference to the illegal file sharing issue, she describes her days of making money from recording music are well and truly over.

Lily Allen set up the blog in the hope that people would post messages of support against music piracy and claims for the government to do more to tackle the issue by enforcing harsher punishments.

However, Lily Allen has also written on her blog recently about her thoughts on pursuing a career in acting, but this post had now been deleted. This possible next career move for Lily Allen would be following in her father’s footsteps as the daughter of Keith Allen, the comedian and actor.

A spokesman for Lily Allen has tried to downplay her decision to quit music and claims that she is not thinking about her next album right now because she is still promoting her current album It’s Not Me It’s You.

It seems Lungs by Florence and the Machine is one of the bookmakers’ favourites to take home the accolade. Florence Welch claims that she is so nervous about tonight’s awards ceremony that she is considering hiding in the toilets until the winner is announced, saying that it is sitting through the ceremony that is scaring her the most.

Fellow nominee Elly Jackson, singer from La Roux, also thinks Florence and the Machine is the favourite to win together with the self-titled debut album from the Friendly Fires. Elly Jackson says that she was not expecting to win and was looking forward to her live performance as well as the live performances of her fellow nominees.

She also said that even if La Roux do pick up the gong, there will be no time to celebrate as they have to jet off to France soon after the show. It seems the Barclaycard Mercury Prize 2008 winners Elbow agree with La Roux’s Elly Jackson, having said they think Friendly Fires will win take the crown from them this year.

Speech Debelle has talked up her own chances of winning the Barclaycard Mercury Prize with her album Speech Therapy. She claims that if it was a popularity contest, she would lose but will have a very good chance if the decision was based on the reasons why she was nominated for the shortlist in the first place.

Speech Debelle has also described her album as being different to what is always heard on the radio and is confident of winning the top prize, despite saying she does not have a speech prepared.

Also in the running for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize is Kasabian with the album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno claims that the band might donate the money to charity if they win the award, unless the money gets given to the barman, that is.

Many of this year’s front runners to lift the Barclaycard Mercury Prize crown are also on tour playing at many venues across the UK.

Florence and the Machine, already performing shows throughout September, has just announced details of new tour dates for the UK and Ireland scheduled for December 2009. The new Florence and the Machine tour dates include the Glasgow O2 Academy on December 9 as well as the Manchester Apollo (December 10), Lincoln Engine Shed (December 11) and the London Brixton Academy (December 13).

The Arctic Monkeys prepared for their headline live performance with a gig at the London O2 Brixton Academy last night, their first live gig since the release of their hotly anticipated third album Humbug.

Not only did the Arctic Monkeys perform the new songs, but belted out the hits from their previous albums Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not and Favourite Worst Nightmare. Also, as reported earlier on Tixdaq News, Them Crooked Vultures filled in the support slot.

Now whilst some bands like the Arctic Monkeys warmed up on stage in the run up to their Reading and Leeds Festival performance, another band have had to cancel upcoming gigs.

Maximo Park have had to announce the cancellation of their tour of North America due to illness, which was scheduled to take place from September 6.

In the statement from Maximo Park, the cancellation was cited as being for personal reasons, and wholeheartedly apologised to those looking forward to the shows.

The statement also said that Maximo Park always like coming to North America and would do all they can to reschedule the shows.

Let’s hope Maximo Park are well enough to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festival, but if not, Maximo Park are scheduled to return to the UK for three headline dates in October.

The Maximo Park tour will play at the Glasgow Barrowland (October 7), Manchester Apollo (October 8 ) and the London Royal Albert Hall (October 9).

Meanwhile, another band set to take the stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival is Fall Out Boy, despite their lead singer Patrick Stump allegedly being arrested in Hollywood with a driving charge in the early hours of August 26.

It has been reported that Patrick Stump was driving without a license and paid $15,000 (£9,200) bail. However, the incident is not expected to get in the way of their Reading and Leeds Festival appearance.

The Reading and Leeds Festival is taking place at the Reading Richfield Avenue and the Leeds Bramham Park from August 28-30.

Big Green Gathering ticket holders now have the chance to see Basement Jaxx at the Big Chill Festival

Those who originally bought tickets to the now cancelled Big Green Gathering can attend a different festival instead.

The Big Green Gathering, which was originally due to take place at the Somerset Fernhill Farm from July 29 – August 2, was cancelled because of the threat of an injunction from the local council.

Now, Big Green Gathering tickets can be traded in for tickets to attend the Big Chill Festival, providing an additional payment of £20 is also made to make up for the value of the Big Chill Festival ticket.

The Big Chill Festival will take place at the Herefordshire Eastnor Castle Deer Park from August 6-9.

Some of the acts confirmed to appear at the Big Chill Festival are Orbital, Basement Jaxx, David Byrne and Spiritualized.

The Cribs have announced that they will be playing more shows as part of their UK tour before the end of the year.

Tickets to see The Cribs are already available for shows in September and October, but have now added four more dates for December.

The new dates will be played at the Birmingham O2 Academy (December 2), London Brixton O2 Academy (December 3), Doncaster Dome (December 5) and the Edinburgh Corn Exchange (December 6).

The Enemy perfomed at the Manchester Apollo on July 13 for the Orange RockCorps

Orange RockCorps organised a one-off show at the Manchester Apollo on July 13 as a way of saying thank you to the 3,000 volunteers who gave up four hours to work on community projects across Manchester.

Tom Clarke, lead singer of The Enemy, spoke of the band’s support for Orange RockCorps and the unique event, praising how the charity teaches young people the act of earning their rewards in life.

The Enemy mainly sang songs from their debut album We’ll Live And Die In These Towns, including the singles Had Enough, Away From Here and You’re Not Alone, dedicating the latter to Lady GaGa herself.

She followed The Enemy on stage, performing current single Paparazzi as well as Just Dance from the album The Fame.

Lady GaGa also spoke of her support for Orange RockCorps, saying that she got involved with the show because she wanted to help make the volunteers in the audience feel like stars, just as she dreamt of stardom herself when she was younger.

Fans of The Enemy and Lady GaGa can still catch them in action before the end of the year. They will both be at V Festival at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park (August 22-23).

Dizzee Rascal is hoping for another number one single after planning to release a second collaboration with Calvin Harris, taken from the new upcoming album Tongue N Cheek.

Their previous collaboration Dance Wiv Me spent four weeks at number one when it was released in June 2008.

Dizzee Rascal describes how their number one hit inspired the collaboration to happen for the second time, with Calvin Harris producing the song Holiday.

Calvin Harris sent Dizzee Rascal a few songs but only one of them stuck, which Dizzee Rascal put the lyrics to and believes this one will also get an amazing reception from music fans.

Holiday will be released as a single at the end of August, just before the new album Tongue N Cheek is released on September 7.

It has recently been announced that dance DJ Calvin Harris will perform live the last of the Somerset House Summer Series shows, held at the London Somerset House.

The Calvin Harris gig will take place on July 20 after a host of other acts have already graced the stage with their own headline gig at the London Somerset House over the course of July this year.

Ryan Jarman of The Cribs reveals details of their new album Ignore The Ignorant

The Cribs have revealed details of their fourth studio album, titled Ignore The Ignorant.

The new album, containing twelve tracks, is the first to be recorded with The Cribs’ new guitarist Johnny Marr and was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Nick Launay.

The Cribs frontman Ryan Jarman claims that the album title was partly inspired by the rise of the British National Party, who recently won a seat at the recent European Elections in Yorkshire, where the band members are from.

The Cribs’ last album was released in May 2007 and was titled Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever.

Ignore The Ignorant will be released on September 7 with a new single called Cheat On Me to be released prior to this on August 31.

The release of Ignore The Ignorant will coincide with The Cribs tour of the UK, where they are due to play at the Liverpool O2 Academy (September 26), Manchester Apollo (October 2) and the Leeds O2 Academy (October 4) before finishing at the London HMV Forum (October 15).

Kasabian topped this week’s official UK albums chart with their latest release, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

Kasabian beat off competition from Little Boots, Bruce Springsteen and Placebo, who also released albums this week.

Alesha Dixon is touring the UK this October and November

Alesha Dixon has denied that former R&B girl group Mis-Teeq will reform and follow in the footsteps of other pop group reunions in recent years.

Former Mis-Teeq member Alesha Dixon says that any reunion should happen naturally and as Alesha Dixon is about to embark on her 2009 tour, no reunion is expected in the immediate future.

However, Alesha Dixon did not rule out a Mis-Teeq reunion.

Alesha Dixon is currently focusing on her solo career as she is set to appear at various summer festivals this year before her tour in October.

Alesha Dixon will be at the Wireless Festival at London Hyde Park over the weekend of July 4-5.

Will Young has announced new UK tour dates for November and December after his summer festival appearances this year.

Will Young will be performing songs from his last album which was released in September 2008 titled Let It Go.

Flo Rida will perform songs from album R.O.O.T.S at the O2 Wireless Festival at London Hyde Park (July 4-5) and the Flo Rida tour also kicks off soon after with shows at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (July 12), Manchester Apollo (July 14) and the Glasgow O2 Academy (July 15).

Snow Patrol will be at T In The Park festival at the Kinross Balado Airfield (July 10-12) and the V Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Shifnal (August 22-23).

Paolo Nutini, whose new album Sunny Side Up is out on June 1, will also be performing at T In The Park festival and V Festival, but will first be at the Isle of Wight Festival at the Newport Seaclose Park (June 12-14).

Kasabian, whose new album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is out on June 8, will be the support act for the upcoming Oasis tour which kicks off with three dates at the Manchester Heaton Park (June 4, 6 & 7) and ends with three dates at the London Wembley Stadium (July 9, 11 & 12).

The Saturdays tour, featuring songs from debut album Chasing Lights, features concerts across the UK throughout June and early July, including a show at London HMV Apollo (June 24).

The Saturdays will also be at the Capital FM Summertime Ball at the London Emirates Stadium (June 7) and T4 On The Beach at the Weston Super Mare Beach (July 19).

Pete Doherty will be playing four solo shows in the UK this September having released his debut solo album Grace/Wastelands earlier this year.

Pete Doherty will play the London Roundhouse (September 19), Leamington Spa Assembly (September 20), Manchester Apollo (September 21) and the Glasgow Barrowlands (September 23).

Tickets to the forthcoming Pete Doherty shows will go on general sale on Friday May 22 at 9am.

Beforehand, Pete Doherty will be making an appearance in some summer festivals this year.

Meanwhile, Pete Doherty’s band mate from The Libertines Carl Barat has not ruled out the possibility of another reunion gig after The Libertines reunited to perform at The Rhythm Factory, London in the early hours of Saturday May 16.

The Libertines were performing at a tribute show for the late promoter Johnny Sedassy. Carl Barat claims that solo work is taking priority right now and that the possibility of a full reunion can be reassessed in 2010.

It has recently been announced that Tori Amos will embark on a four date UK tour later this year. The 2009 Tori Amos tour will kick off at Manchester Apollo on September 6 before calling at Birmingham Symphony Hall (September 7) and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (September 8). The Tori Amos tour draws to a close at London HMV Hammersmith Apollo on September 10.

The Tori Amos tour announcement arrives on the same day (May 18) as the release of the latest Tori Amos album entitled Abnormally Attracted to Sin.

The Saturdays have recently announced plans for world domination by setting out to win over the US.  Band member Vanessa White spoke recently about the possibility of the group looking to break America over the next twelve months.

The Saturdays’ music has already been getting airplay out in the US, fueling the girls ambitions for a US fanbase.

The Saturdays made their debut in 2008 with the hugely successful ‘Chasing Lights’.

The Saturdays UK tour kicks off in June.  They will be playing through June and July all over the UK.  The Saturdays tour includes visits to Newcastle City Hall (June 9), Manchester Apollo (June 19 & July 7), Liverpool Empire Theatre (June 29) and Cardiff International Arena (July 3). Lily Allen will be performing songs from her second album, ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’, after releasing the singles, ‘The Fear’ and ‘Not Fair,’ so far this year.

The last scheduled date for Lily Allen’s tour is Friday November 27 at the Brixton O2 Academy, London but Lily Allen will also perform at the Manchester Apollo on Tuesday November 17 and the NIA, Birmingham on Tuesday November 24.
