Pete Doherty fails to attend premiere of Libertines film

Pete Doherty failed to attend the premiere of The Libertines’ new documentary film last night, seemingly putting to and end the rumours that the band could reform.

Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell were all present at the London Troxy for the first showing of There Are No Innocent Bystanders premiere.

Barat, who has a difficult relationship with Doherty, said last night the band had no plans to continue ‘as it stands’ and stated, ‘It’s the end of a chapter for sure for me. Tonight a curtain is falling on something.’
The Pete Doherty UK tour is due to begin at the beginning of May.

Pete Doherty identified in German burglary

Pete Doherty is reportedly under investigation for breaking into a record shop in Germany, an incident which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Libertines singer, who is currently shooting a film in the Bavarian city of Regensburg, the town where the crime took place, was allegedly identified by an eyewitness to the burglary. A spokesperson for Doherty has refused to comment on the situation.

The Pete Doherty UK tour is due to get underway in May, and it is not yet known whether the singer’s live shows will be affected by the recent incident in Germany.

Pete Doherty’s big 2011 come back tour

The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman, Pete Doherty will be returning as a solo artist this May for 18 gigs around the UK and Ireland. After an absence of two years, Doherty will reconvene his solo career starting in Lemington Spa, the 3rd of May. New material has yet to be confirmed but it is more than likely that the prolific song writer will have an album out at some point this year.

Pete Doherty tickets went on sale this morning (9 AM the 28th of January), pick them up quickly, they won’t be around forever.

Pete Doherty will be returning to the road this May to perform solo material,tickets go on sale at 9 AM tomorrow (28/1/2011). The babyshambles lead singer who reunited with former band mate Carl Barat to reform The Libertines August last year will be playing an 18 date tour around the UK this year. The tour kicks off in Lemington Spa on the 3rd of May and will finish on the 29th of May at Mandela Hall in Belfast. Doherty failed to attend a court hearing over cocaine possesion a week last friday and the hearing will now be on the 2nd of February. It has been over 2 years since Doherty performed live solely and it is unkown if he has new material to perform or release though both are likely.

New Babyshambles album set for 2010 release

Babyyshambles have announced that they will be releasing their third studio album sometime in 2010.

As yet there is no news regarding its title but frontman and former Libertines icon Pete Doherty has claimed that up to 18 songs are currently vying for a place on the record.

Babyshambles are currently in the middle of a tour around the UK and tickets are still available for each of their shows .

Babyshambles Star on “Life Support”

Pete Doherty, Babyshambles’ lead singer, missed his Irish shows last month because he had been placed on a life support machine. The incident was not drug related and it is thought that the man will be back on his feet to continue the Babyshambles tour when it hits Sheffield on 10th December.

Andy Murray to play Wimbledon second round match today

Thousands of Andy Murray fans are expected to watch his second round match at the Wimbledon ‘Henman Hill’ on the large screen, just as they did for his first round match earlier this week.

Andy Murray did not make it easy for himself as it took four sets to beat Robert Kendrick 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4 in his opening match at the All England Club Grand Slam.

Andy Murray is scheduled to play against Ernests Gulbis later today in the Wimbledon second round, hoping for a more straight forward victory.

The last time Andy Murray faced Ernests Gulbis was at last year’s Queen’s Club tournament and Ernests Gulbis had suggested Andy Murray took a medical time-out for no real reason when the scores were 5-5 in the last set.

Ernests Gulbis knows he would not have necessarily won the game, but claims that the medical time-out disrupted his rhythm as Andy Murray went on to win the match.

Andy Murray denies playing such tactics, and had to withdraw from the Queen’s Club tournament last year with an injury the following day.

Elsewhere at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, world number two Roger Federer comfortably booked his place into the third round after easing past Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. Roger Federer will be up against Philipp Kohlschreiber next.

Novak Djokovic, who is just behind Andy Murray in the world rankings, also booked his place into the Wimbledon third round by beating Simon Greul 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 and faces Mardy Fish next.

World number seven Fernando Verdasco had to battle through three tie breaks before eventually beating Kristof Vliegen 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Next up is an all-Spanish affair as Fernando Verdasco takes on Albert Montanes in the Wimbledon third round.

It seems all the top seeds were easing into the Wimbledon third round, but the case could not be said for the number five seed Juan Martin del Potro, who earlier today lost to former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 7-5, 7-5.

Also playing their second round matches today was number six seed Andy Roddick who beat Igor Kunitsyn 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, and the number eight seed Gilles Simon who beat Thiago Alves 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Pete Doherty will be playing four solo shows in the UK this September having released his debut solo album Grace/Wastelands earlier this year.

Pete Doherty will play the London Roundhouse (September 19), Leamington Spa Assembly (September 20), Manchester Apollo (September 21) and the Glasgow Barrowlands (September 23).

Tickets to the forthcoming Pete Doherty shows will go on general sale on Friday May 22 at 9am.

Beforehand, Pete Doherty will be making an appearance in some summer festivals this year.

Pete Doherty will be performing at T In The Park in Balado Airfield, Kinross which takes place from Thursday July 9 until Sunday July 12. Pete Doherty will also play the V Festival over the weekend of August 22-23 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Shifnal.

Tickets for the late summer V festival are to be released on sale today Friday March 6. Scheduled to take place over two sites in Chelmsford and Staffordshire over two days (August 22 & 23), The V festival promises to be one of the standout summer festivals in this years UK live music calendar.

It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.

Glasvegas free Notting Hill gig plays into the early hours

Glasvegas played an intimate surprise in Notting Hill in the early hours of this morning (February 26)

The band had followed the NME Awards show at the O2 Academy Brixton where they had duetted with Florence And The Machine’s Florence Welch.

According to reports the gig saw sometime support act Carl Barat crowd surf – after being lifted up above the packed audience by Jon ‘The Reverend’ McClure. The free-to-enter venue was packed with Glasvegas fans for the show which began around 12:30am.

Glasvegas finish their headline slot on the NME tour at the NME Big Gig due to take place at London’s O2 Arena tonight (February 26) after which they our planning a brief brake before returning for the summer bout of festival appearances.

Meanwhile crowd surfer and former Libertine and Dirty Pretty Things star Carl Barat has announced his maiden solo gig at the Wakefield Escobar on March 7. Caral Barat who recently supported Glasvegas on their recent North America tour is following in the footsteps of former Libertine and best friend Pete Doherty who is planning his own solo tour to support his eagerly anticipated debut solo album ‘Grace/Wastelands’ released March 16.

Lily Allen joins Kings of Leon and The Killers on Oxegen Stage

Lily Allen, Keane, The Specials, Paolo Nutini, Digitalism and The Mars Volta are all amongst the latest round of performers confirmed to be playing this year’s Oxegen festival.

Wallis Bird, Swedish House Mafia, Miss Kittin and The Hacker, Crookers and Hockey have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse on (July 10, 11 & 12).

Oxegen 2009 is promising to be one of the stand out festivals of the year with Lily Allen, Keane,and The Specials will be joining acts such as The Killers, Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have all previously confirmed appearances at this years festival.

Paul Weller Scoops Best British Solo Male at Brit Awards

The success of Paul Weller’s 2008 album 22 dreams helped the former Jam frontman beat off competition from other British solo artist Ian Brown, James Morrison, The streets and Will Young to be name Best Britsh Solo Artist of 2008.

Paul Weller’s Award was tainted in some controversy however following various bookmakers’ decision to suspend all Brits award related betting on suspicion that a list of winners had been leaked following a sudden rush of wagers were placed on Paul Weller to win best solo male artist across several William Hill Bookmakers.

Fans will have an oppurtunity to see the Mod father live in concert this summer which sees Paul Weller begin a tour at Halifax Victoria Theatre (May 5) continuing on to shows at Stoke Victoria Hall (May 6) Blackpool Empress Ballroom (May Middlesborough Town Hall (May 9) Doncaster Dome (May 11) Derby Assembly Rooms (May 12) Motherwell Concert Hall (May 14) Dundee Caird Hall (May 15) Bournemouth Opera House (May 17) Bristol Colston Hall (May 18) Leicester De Montfort Hall (May 19) finally finishing his tour at London;s Hammersmith Apollo (May21).

Other winners at the 2009 Brit Awards took place at London Earl’s Court included Kings of Leon who took home the awards for Best International Album and Best International Group, Elbow won the Best Group award, Katy Perry was named Best International Female and Iron Maiden took home the award for Best Live Act. As many had expected, Paul Weller picked up the Best Male Solo Artist award. Pet Shop Boys picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Music award and Florence and the Machine won the Critics’ Choice award.

A number of last night’s winners are on tour this year and tickets are selling fast. Katy Perry, Elbow, Kings of Leon and Paul Weller will be touring the UK in 2009.

Killers confirmed as Oxegen Festival Headliners

Promoter’s MCD have announced that The Killers have joined the line-up for this year’s Oxegen festival.

Having also confirmed a series of festival appearances this summer including T In The Park, the Las Vegas band will also headline the Irish festival for the second year in a row at Punchestown Racecourse between July 10-12.

The Killers will be joining acts such as Bloc Party, Blur, Elbow Fight Like Apes, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Pete Doherty, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, The Script, The Ting Tings, White Lies and Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have all previously confirmed appearances at this years festival.

Fans will have many chance to catch The Killers this summer as The Killers summer tour starts in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena (February 21), before moving on to venues including London’s O2 Arena (February 23 &24), Cardiff International Arena (February 28), Aberdeen Exhibition Centre (March 5) and the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (March 7). The Killers tour comes to a close with two back to back shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (March 9 & 10). Killers tickets are currently available from £56.

T in the Park line up grows

Former ‘Birthday Party’ singer Nick Cave and his latest group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are set to play Scotland’s biggest festival T in The Park this July (10 & 12)

It has been confirmed that Razorlight, Pete Doherty, Elbow, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pendulum and White Lies have been added to the line-up for this year’s T In The Park.

These acts will join the likes of Kings Of Leon, Katie Perry, Blur and Snow Patrol, who have previously been confirmed as headliners of the the hugely popular Scotish festival which is due to take place in Kinross between July 10 & 12. Pete Doherty follows in Oscar Wildes footsteps

It has been announced that Pete Doherty is set to give a lecture at Trinity College in Dublin tomorrow Friday (February 4).

The singer will be the guest of The University Philosophical Society (‘The Phil’) following in the footsteps of past speakers including Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, Helen Mirren, Al Pacino and John McCain.

Pete is currently on a promotional tour to support his eagerly anticipated debut solo album ‘Grace/Wastelands’ released March 16 and his subsequent nationwide solo tour.

Before the tour begins, Pete Doherty is due to play two of the Shockwaves NME Awards show nights. Pete Doherty will play shows at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London on February 22 and Glasgow Barrowlands on february 24.

Tickets to see Pete Doherty on his first full UK tour will be available from £45.

Pete Doherty going solo

It has recently been announced that former Libertines frontman, Pete Doherty, will play his first full-scale solo tour of the UK. The Babyshambles star will play a series of shows around the UK which are set to coincide with the release of Pete Doherty’s debut solo album, Grace/Wastelands, which is due to be released on March 16.

The twelve date solo Pete Doherty tour kicks off at Cardiff University on March 13 and concludes at the Edinburgh Picture House on March 27. You can also see Pete Doherty live at Rock City in Nottingham (March 18), Leeds O2 Academy (March 23) and Birmingham O2 Academy (March 25). See the full tour listing below.
